Reversing made Easy with a VideoMirror

January 8th, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Reversing Mirror
When it comes to parking the car I’m certainly not top of the tree ability wise, which is one of the reasons I was pleasantly impressed when I saw the VideoMirror.

The VideoMirror is basically a LCD screen that is hidden inside a conventional (but slightly thicker) rear view mirror. The magic happens when you put the car into reverse and the LCD displays slides out showing you (via a camera at the back) exactly what is happening behind you. This little device could certainly help avoid a few scrapes and scratches to your motor.

Room Defender

January 8th, 2006 by Anita in Toys, Wacky Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Home Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

roomdefender
You probably have tried everything in your power to keep your parents out of your room or maybe your spouse out of your closet and nothing seems to be working. You have asked nicely, placed signs on your door, and maybe even yelled quite a bit about having your own privacy. However, when you are not around, they seem to still go in and search through your stuff. Well, not any more!

With the Room Defender to protect your room or closet or even your office you will be able to keep a few more things private. The Room Defender is mounted on three gun-turrets like legs and will protect your stuff from spies.

The way that it works is that the Room Defender has a motion sensor alarm, when someone enters an area that you do not want them in, it will first give a verbal warning and then fire a shot at them in the form of a foam disc.

UberOrbs

January 8th, 2006 by Anita in Wacky Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

UberOrbs
These little gadgets will keep you busy for hours. You will not have any more boring times while you are just sitting around with nothing to do if you have these guys sitting on your desk.

Many people sit around and doodle on paper while they are talking on the telephone or even while watching television. The reason is they need something else to keep their mind busy. Yes, many people can do more than one thing at a time and these UberOrbs will help keep their mind active and busy.

UberOrbs are magnetic stones that are made from hematite which are more than mere magnets. These magnets are great for compulsive people or someone that just enjoys fiddling. If you pull them apart, they make a “zoing” sound when they quickly join back together. You can throw them into the air and they will zing back together again. You can even hold one in your hand and spin the other one around in all kinds of patterns on your table or desk.

103 inch Plasma - WOW

January 7th, 2006 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets

Big plasma 103 inch
This is another record breaker, revealed at [tag]CES[/tag], the worlds biggest Plasma display. It’s only a prototype at the moment but Panasonic have a great display on there hands. I only hope:
a> It’s released before the 2006 World Cup
b> The “not so reliable” cable company NTL (who I’m with) are broadcasting in [tag]HDTV[/tag] by then
c> I have enough money to buy one and a big enough room to house it in

The screen looks sweet, lets hope it becomes a reality.

** The picture shows the relative size difference between a 50 inch and the prototype 103 inch (I’m kind of guessing that as I don’t know Japanese)

Play Golf get Drunk

January 7th, 2006 by Al in Wacky Gadgets

Golf Club Bottle
I know a fair few golfers and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is one of their clubs. [tag]Golf[/tag] can be a pretty boring walk which liquid refreshment can only enhance. But as some clubs have strict rules about supping on the green you may need a smuggling device, which is were the Electronic Drinks Caddie may come in handy.

Shaped and sculptured like a traditional 5 iron this drink container holds up to 54 oz of your favourite tipple. They say it can hold hot or cold drinks but I think we know the type of drinker this product is aimed at. This means you no longer need to wait till the 19th hole to relieve the boredom of golf (though when I have the spare time to play I wouldn’t be surprised if I get addicted to the game and will never abuse it again):).

Display Free Flash Drive Space with eInk

January 7th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets

eInk Pendrive
I’ve been following the [tag]CES[/tag] show with interest and jealousy and have set the resolution that this is the last time I’ll not be there. One of the exhibits on show was a [tag]Lexar[/tag] [tag]USB flash drive[/tag] with an eInk display to show how much disc space is currently free.

Google Pack
Google seem to come out with new products and services on a near daily basis, the majority of which are either really cool or just plain useful (it always impresses me exploring new countries using Google Earth). Today they’ve decided to make it easier for us to download them all at once by means of the new Google Pack.
