Belt Seat

January 21st, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

Anywhere chair
This has got to be the most portable chair (if you can call it that) that I’ve ever seen. It looks like an extra wide belt and promises to support your back when you sit down, one end of the loop goes round your knees and the around your back.

It doesn’t look like the ultimate in comfort but you can carry it anywhere (back packing and fishing spring to mind) and still have a form of back supporting seat as and when needed.

Air Dryer Shower

January 20th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets

Body Drier
Not having to dry your self after a shower must be one of the ultimate acts of decadence, you can achieve this by a willing partner, catching a chill whilst drip drying or getting a Luxury Body Dryer.

The Luxury Body Dryer by Triton is like a gigantic hairdryer that you mount in the bathroom ceiling. As the name suggests it doesn’t just dry your hair but also the rest of your body, without a towel in sight.

Kerala Trance Binary Watch

January 20th, 2006 by Al in Wacky Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Kerala Trance Binary WatchI’m a big fan of good watches and geeky watches and this new time piece from Firebox fits quite nicely into both categories, theKerala Trance Watch.

The Kerala Trance is about as geeky as watches get. The time is displayed in binary format which initially will take a bit of calculating to work out the time but once you get used to it, it will become second nature.

The only thing I feel that lets this watch down is the boring black leather strap, I was expecting something a bit more futuristic. It also commands a bit of a high price (100UKP) and is available from Firebox.

Fingerprint Flash Drive

January 20th, 2006 by Al in Spy Stuff, PC Gadgets

USB Drive
If you’re concerned about keeping your data secure whilst on the move you might want to consider the Sandisk Cruzer Biometric USB Drive.

The Sandisk Cruzer uses fingerprint recognition to protect your data from prying eyes. In order to access the drive you need unlock it by a swipe of the finger (which you’ve previously programmed it to recognise). Very James Bond-ish.

You can get them on TG for $119.99.

Rubber Band Warfare

January 19th, 2006 by Al in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Rubber ban gun
This must be the ultimate weapon in the office rubber band flicking war, the fully automatic rubber band machine gun.

Each machine gun is beautifully hand crafted and not only resembles an old western Gatling Gun but actually fires like one. Ammunition for the gun is obviously elastic bands, of which it can hold 144 at a time (12 bands on each of the 12 barrels). Read the rest of this entry »

Air Conditioner for your PC

January 19th, 2006 by Al in PC Gadgets

PC Air Conditioner
With today’s cooling systems I’m not sure how beneficial or necessary this really is, however it’s pretty cool a PC Air Conditioner by Manhattan.

It fits into one of your spare 5 ¼” drive bays and promises to lower the temperature of your system by up to 16° F. It’s also pretty much silent (noise level 26 dBA).

So if your monster PC just isn’t cool enough you can get one of these for just under $50 from Think Geek.

Super Tiny PMP

January 18th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Audio/Video Gadgets

Tiny Media Player
No matter how small devices get it never seems to be small enough, this latest media player from Aigo measures in at 66 x 66 x 19mm and weighs a tiny 85g and even packs in a 2″ LTPS (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon what ever that means) TFT.

This tiny MP4 player will easily slip into any pocket, has storage of up-to 2GB, and even has a TV output for when you’re fed up with squinting at the 2″ screen. As you’d expect it supports all popular music formats and connects to the PC via USB 2.0 so downloading to it should be a breeze.

I’m not sure how comfy it will be watching a screen of this size, so I’ll be holding verdict on this cool looking device until I see one in the flesh.
