Zap your way to health

March 5th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

photon-sauna-cauterizer.jpg

Koreans will be able to pick up this painful looking Photon Sauna Cauterizer soon if they want to get on track when it comes to health. What does this device actually do? For starters, you are supposed to wear it around your waist and turn it on. The thermo-therapeutic belt will then get down to work, using a laser called Super Luminescene to bombard your body in order to stimulate your human body while causing “many beneficial effects to the body”. Those who are interested to know what those “beneficial effects” are include a more effective method of processing oxygen and nutrition during times of injury or disease infection for a speedy recovery as well as a faster way for you to process your food and eliminating wastes, hence bringing some much needed relief to your nervous system.

Train your pooch to withdraw money

March 5th, 2007 by Edwin in Pet Gadgets

dog-atm.jpg

We’ve all heard and seen guide dogs for the blind roam the streets as they faithfully guide their masters around in a manner that puts even a filial child to shame, but there is a new breed of dogs that will definitely be a boon to the disabled. These ‘assistance dogs’ have gone through a special kind of training that enables them to withdraw money from ATMs for their disabled masters without paws-ing for thought. I suppose this system will only work if the ATM machine is standardized across all banks, but different banks tend to have a slight variation when it comes to the user interface. Guess you can now add ‘ATM literate’ to the long list of achievements on an assistant dog these days.

Waterproof helmet-mountable camera for the kids

March 4th, 2007 by Mike in Audio/Video Gadgets, Childrens Gadgets

ATC2K Waterproof ActionCamera
I remember using my extremely low resolution video camera to record my friends and I riding down the street on skateboards or anything else that had wheels on it. Then, we’d rush inside, hook up the camera, and be amazed at the jittery, pixelated video we recorded. Trust me, it was awesome. Nowadays, cameras are becoming cheaper and, at the same time, higher quality. The ATC2K Waterproof ActionCamera is essentially a (much) better version of my low-res video camera.

Tanita Innerscan for hardcore health buffs

March 4th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

tanita-bc545.jpgIf you’re a hardcore health buff who measures your progress religiously, Tanita has just the thing for you in the form of the BC-545. This unique machine was specifically designed to do a readout on the impact of your current training routine across different areas of your body. For example, the BC-545 is capable of giving individual body composition readings for each arm, each leg, and the entire trunk area (a major problem for us men who tend to drift toward Beer Belly Valley after marriage).

R/C Flying Doraemon for Sale

March 4th, 2007 by Al in Remote Control Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Flying Doraemon

I can’t say I’m a particular fan of Manga cartoons but for those who are and especially those who are fans of Doraemon this is quite possibly the ultimate toy, your very own remote-control flying Doraemon.

Whether you’re a fan of Manga or not this still looks pretty cool, an inane flying cat that you control. The specifications are limited to say the least but for a tiny bit of more info and availability check out geekstuff4u.

Star Trek phaser doubles up as remote control

March 4th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

phaser-remote.jpgJust before you continue reading this post, I have one question to ask. Which franchise has the bigger set of fans - Star Wars or Trekkies? Both storylines cater to different kinds of people at varying levels of maturity, so I’ll let the comments section slug it out for the winner. In the meantime, Trekkies will be happy to know that they can now control virtually every single home entertainment device in their home with this actual replica of a handheld Type 1 phaser that was used by Captain James T. Kirk and his crew in the original Star Trek series as they went about discovering new worlds and duking it out with extra terrestrial lifeforms. Read on to find out what you can do with this Phaser.

Rubix Earth

March 4th, 2007 by Al in Toys

Rubix Earth

Here’s an interesting twist on the Rubiks cube product, the Rubix Earth.

You’ve only got to get 8 pieces in the correct sequence so you’d expect it to be pretty straightforward (like the guys over at Tokyo Mango) but if it’s anything like the 8 piece Homer Simpson puzzle I got the other Christmas it will be far from simple (jumbled it on Christmas day, 1 year and 2 months later, still jumbled). Either that or it’s just me being stupid.

Via Tokyo Mango.
