Cisco Field will become the Oakland A’s new baseball stadium when the Green and Yellow say goodbye to Oakland Alameda County Coliseum in 2012 and when it does come online, it will be doing so literally as their sponsor, Cisco Systems, will be wiring all 35,000 seats with wireless interactive touch screens. Fans will be able to look up stats, keep score, and even order a beer or hot dog directly through the interface (and probably pay for it with your credit card while other fans overlook and copy down your number).
Baseball gets hiTech, Oakland installs touch screens in new stadium
July 21st, 2008 by James in Sport, Tech NewsTeen using GPS Data to fight a traffic ticket …
July 21st, 2008 by James in GPS gadgets, Tech NewsTalk about turning lemons into Lemonade. The parents of 18-year-old Shaun Malone, placed a GPS tracking device into his car to make sure he was obeying traffic laws. The model they installed would email them if he ever went over the speed limit and they could check in real time to make sure he was where he said he was going to be. So, when Shaun was caught by a police radar going 62 in a 45 mph zone last summer, his parents were shocked because they had data to refute the claim by police that their teenager was speeding.
Last weeks coolest gadget (and $50 winner)
July 21st, 2008 by Al in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Miscellaneous Gadgets
We had a run away winner last week with with 37% of the votes, Flee the flyng digital camera, this is the third time Gaj-It has won CGOTW so congrats and thanks for the cool finds guys.
The Flee is designed to be thrown into the air where it will then take amazing aerial shots, something that until now you would have needed a small plane’s assistance for. The aerial shots are then sent back to your mobile phone via Bluetooth, before the Flee returns to the ground ready for use again.

Wine in pop-top cans: A sign of the times
July 21st, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets
Every once in a while, some new idea comes along that is very practical, but probably won’t be implemented because “it has always been done this way”.
For example, the idea of wine in pop-top cans. I’m sure a lot of wine connoisseurs are probably saying: “Wine in pop-top cans? Zut alors! Cans are for beer! Fine wine shall not be drank like le Budweiser!”
Two Swedish designers named Jens Andersson and Jonas Forsman have created a special kind of can designed for wine-drinking. As you can see, they are definitely classier looking than traditional 12 ounce cans, especially when it comes to the shape and the pop-top. In case you are wondering, they are recyclable.

The ScanFast Collection are all designed to open easily for any airport screeners. The backpack especially looks roomy enough to hold plenty of other things you might want directly with you.
Batman’s Batpod rocked The Dark Knight
July 21st, 2008 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Toys, Vehicle Gadgets
Last summer, we reported that Spider-man 3 broke the record for the most successful opening weekend. I’ve just heard that this record has been broken by The Dark Knight, which is on the verge of becoming the best superhero movie ever.
I’m sure a lot of you saw it over the weekend. Some of you might have been greatly impressed by the Batpod, director Christopher Nolan’s take on the classic bat-cycle, without the sidecar for Robin. The Batpod was designed by Nathan Crowley, the same man who designed the Tumbler from the Batman Begins.
The lighted Ur. Frog Wrist Rest
July 21st, 2008 by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Not too long ago the Croissant Wrist Rest made its way around the net, coming with a fresh bread scent. However, this latest wrist rest is definitely way cooler. First of all, this squishy little frog can be hooked up to your USB port and to activate the pretty lights. Nothing is cooler than a squishy glowing frog, it’s just the rules. Although, it does look a little morbid, since it looks more like a frog that was recently run over by a truck. Well maybe not a truck, probably just some evil little kid with a wagon or something equally small and fatal.
Wireless Display Blood Pressure Monitor
July 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Medical Gadgets
Most blood pressure monitors we know are portable devices that are wrapped around your arm before it gets to work – this one does the same albeit with a slightly different approach. It comes with a detachable wireless display for optimal viewing.
This is the only blood pressure monitor that transmits measurements to a detachable wireless display that can be positioned up to two feet from the main unit for optimal viewing. Easier to use than wraparound cuff models, your arm rests comfortably in the enclosed cuff which inflates with a push of a button. The monitor uses the oscillometric method of measurement to record blood pressure readings accurate to within 3mmHg and pulse rate accurate to within 5%. The LCD panel shows diastolic and systolic blood pressure in 7/8 high numerals, as well as pulse, date, and time; LEDs alert you if blood pressure readings fall outside recommended levels. The display stores up to 90 readings for two people. Six AA batteries (included) provide cordless operation for about 150 readings, or the unit plugs into AC with an included adapter.
I guess I’ll need one of these if the Dow Jones continues to plunge each day, as I see my favorite stocks go south and I remain stubborn to the bitter end. The Wireless Display Blood Pressure Monitor retails for $199.95.
