Bic Disposable Pre-Charged Cellphones

July 11th, 2008 by AndrewD in Mobile Phones

Bic is an awesome gadget company. I’ve been using their quality ball-point pens and even a disposable razor or two for years. I’m not quite sure if I can trust them yet when it comes to anything too technological. I mean, they don’t really have a reputation as a tech company. But luckily, with this dip in the mobile market pie, Bic has a little help from their friends.

Bic has teamed up with Orange France to release the first ever Bic Phone, a cell which is sold with a pre-charged battery and made to be thrown away after a chunk of usage. The Bic Phone comes with a SIM card already set-up and roaring to go, with activation being the only needed step. Each Bic Phone will also offer 60 minutes of free talk time. But you can always add more minutes if you’re so inclined.

Open It! opens any annoying plastic packaging

July 11th, 2008 by AndrewD in Home Gadgets

Man, do I hate how things are packaged these days. Lets say I just got home from Wal-Mart or something after picking up a new wireless mouse. Usually, I leave the common sense at the door and try to open the anti-theft packaging with my hands rather than do something logical like, oh, I don’t know, grab a scissor. Hell, even a fork would do.

If I went out of my way to buy a gadget made to open annoying plastic packaging, you can bet your behind I wouldn’t let that money go to waste. The slick Open It! claims to be the perfect gadget for the job. No body likes being a victim of “wrap rage”. Open It! provides the tools needed to get the job done, and get to the real fun of playing with your new toy.

Celebrate your new iPhone with cheesy Apple t-shirts

July 11th, 2008 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets, iPod gadgets

The new iPhone launch is finally here and likely quite a few tired iPhone fans are finally heading home with their shiny new iPhones.  Although some have sadly gotten stuck with the white iPhones.  Well if you’re feeling overly fanboyish this line of t-shirts is worth a look.  Although only serious fanboys need apply.  The eagle features a banner that states “in jobs we trust”.  As well as several Apple icons and of course the iPod Touch/iPhone.  These geeky shirts have shirts for the whole family too, making your family the Brady Bunch of fanboys.

Backpack Bike is Transformer for Real

July 11th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Sport

Some of our readers might be avid cyclists, but live in the big city. If you live in a high rise, you might have a terrible problem when you have to bring the bike into the elevator. Then there is that awkward moment as the elevator car stops mid-way gets way too crowded. Bikes take up a lot of space in apartments as well as elevators, and it would be nice if bikes could somehow shrink when not needed.

The Backpack Bicycle solves this problem by folding up the bike into a compact transport for your back. The designer, Chang Ting Jen, also reduced the weight of the bike by using plastics instead of metal.

Pets Eye View: See things from Fido’s POV

July 11th, 2008 by Mark R in Digital Cameras, Pet Gadgets, Photography

Ever wonder how your pet sees the world? I can imagine that it is pretty low of the ground, and food is always so high up.

Now, you don’t have to imagine anymore with the Pets Eye View digital camera! The Pets Eye View clips to a pet’s collar like an ID tag, and is completely water resistant.

The camera can be programmed to snap a photo every one, five, or fifteen minutes, and store them in its internal memory. These pictures can be downloaded onto your computer with the included USB cable. This cable can be used to charge the lithium ion battery inside the camera.

Time Bomb Alarm Clock is sure to drag you out of bed

July 11th, 2008 by Ally in Cool Clocks

One thing that we are never short of as far as gadgets go are novelty alarm clocks.  Having just a normal alarm clock is clearly not an option with some.  This Bomb Alarm Clock even comes complete with a fake fuse to give it a more realistic look.  Then just in case it was unclear it’s a time bomb, it says on the front in bold letters TIME BOMB.  As if we were going to somehow miss that part.

PAL-V: The Super Cool Flying Car

PAL-V: The Super Cool Flying Car

If you add a car and plane together – cut, glue and mix vigorously, what do you get? The PAL-V, flying car. Alright, so it didn’t quite happen like that but you get my drift. This super cool gadget is a car and a plane rolled into one! On the road this is a delightful 3-wheeled car, taking you up to speeds of 125 mph but open it up to reveal a foldable rotor, propeller and tail section, letting you take to skies at speeds of up to 120 mph. This is an absolutely genius idea for people who can’t be bothered to wait in traffic jams.

TripAdvisor for iPhone users

July 11th, 2008 by Edwin in Apple News, Software

While iPhone users might be a cut above the rest of the tech community due to their ability to fork out insane amounts of dough at the initial release (remember last June’s iPhone that went for $599?), they certainly are human as we are, requiring sustenance to keep on going. Being hungry is a universal feeling that everyone experiences at some point in time, but iPhone users have the advantage of sniffing down some of the best eats in town thanks to the TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor has recently announced a version of its Local Picks restaurant finder at Apple’s recently opened App Store, and it will be available for free. The Local Picks application will take advantage of the iPhone’s location-based capabilities so that folks can track down the best restaurants rated by locals, enabling one to throw a so-called (biased) “guidebook” out of the window.
