Tokyoflash’s new line of watches feature custom engraved wristbands

July 15th, 2008 by Ally in Cool Clocks

Tokyoflash, a Japanese watch importer, has just announced they will be releasing a whole new bunch of unisex watches for their Nekura series. The watches all have that nice sleek metallic look and one is even inspired by a speedometer. The line itself is definitely for those that enjoy an almost industrial look added to their watch. Even while looking industrial, they still manage to make it chic. The fact that they are unisex is even better, it seems like thick heavy watches like this (which is my favorite kind of band) never come small enough for women.

Sony VAIO FW notebook unveiled

July 15th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets

Sony has rolled out a new multimedia notebook in the form of the Sony VAIO FW, catering to high definition fans the way such movies were meant to be seen. You will be able to choose from a plethora of configurations, ranging from a standard to a premium model. Of course, the latter is able to play Blu-ray discs, letting you enjoy high definition content in full 1080 HD resolution when hooked to a compatible HDTV. In addition, it makes for a great backup device by storing, recording and playing back personal content on high-capacity BD media – I know I could certainly make do with 25GB of extra storage space. The FW notebook will tip the scales at slightly over six pounds, which makes it quite hefty. One of the payoffs would be the 16.4″ widescreen display – the first of its kind in the world, merging the best of both 17″ and 15.4″ models in a solitary display. The widescreen LCD display is perfect for watching widescreen movies, minimizing the black bars that appear while letting you view movies in their intended format.

Sony releases VAIO Z Series notebooks

July 15th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets

Sony has just introduced the new VAIO Z Series notebooks that brings a sleek and powerful machine in a lightweight package. It tips the scales at slightly over 3 pounds, featuring a vivid 13.1″ widescreen display backed by Sony’s own XBRITE-DuraView LCD technology that offers scratch-resistant durability and 100% color saturation. Depending on the model chosen, you will be able to get a maximum high resolution 1,600 x 900 widescreen display, offering a wider workspace compared to a standard display despite sharing the same footprint. The keyboard panel is covered by a seamless sheet of brushed aluminum, framing its individual keys. Spaces between keys have been precisely engineered to create a comfortable typing experience so that mistakes can be avoided, but it is always better to get off on the right footing beforehand.

Obligatory iPhone Post: we’re talking battery life …

July 14th, 2008 by James in Audio/Video Gadgets, Mobile Phones, iPod gadgets

Okay, so just about every tech blog in the Universe is gushing about the wonders of the 3G iPhone. How it supposedly costs 1/3 as much as it did last year, or the wonders of the Application store, or how the 3G network is blindingly fast by comparison of the EDGE network, and how it can even walk on water, raise someone from the dead or turn water into wine. But how long does it last before it needs a battery boost you ask? Only so-so. But there are ways to make it better.

Socket Sense Power Strip

July 14th, 2008 by AndrewD in Electronic Gadgets

Power strips haven’t exactly aged very well. Power adapters started getting huge and oddly shaped, which meant many outlets in a power strip would wind up being wasted. There have been ways to get around that thanks to the aid of some cool gadgets, but none which seem quite as effective as the Socket Sense.

Beautifully designed and well-thought out, the Socket Sense power strip ensures that every bulky AC adapter and plug has a spot to fit. Each of the sockets are positioned at a 45-degree angle, as to make sure that even the bulkiest adaptors stick to their own spot, not covering any of the other outlets.

Gin & Titonic: Celebrating Tragedy Since 1912

July 14th, 2008 by AndrewD in Kitchen Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Leonardo Decaprio is not amused. That snobby Kate Winslet is too busy swimming in pools of cash to care. And everyone else just loves the wit of a disaster being patronized for cash. And really, what’s not to love about the death of hundreds of people? Other than the whole death and people part.

Celebrating disaster since 1912, the Gin & Titonic kit is all you need to create your own mini-Titanic disaster right in the comfort of your own alcohol. Use real live sea monkeys as passengers for extra points. Included in the design are miniature ocean liners and icebergs which are the perfect size for simulating the horror of human tragedy from the comfort of your home.

Croissant Wrist Rest: The Bakery of Ergonomics

July 14th, 2008 by AndrewD in Office Gadgets

The French have plenty of faults. We could argue and debate about French policy and culture for hours, no doubt. But one thing that many of us can agree with is that they make some awesome baked goods. The croissant (which I lovingly refer to as the Freedom Roll) is both pretty, lovingly fluffy, and baked to a simply delicious perfection.

So there’s no question on why designers would exploit the shape of the croissant for their own purposes. In fact, not only the shape, but the actual bread design. And let me tell you something. If I were to use this Croissant Wrist Rest, I would no doubt gain 20 lbs. Hopefully I wouldn’t be foolish enough to eat the wrist support itself, but the craving for a fresh croissant would be unbearable.
