The Russian steampunk mouse

July 16th, 2008 by Ally in DIY Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Steampunk is one of those trends that makes me extremely sorry that I haven’t the slightest bit of crafting skills to make my own steampunk gadgets.  Purely because steampunk is usually very expensive, so unless you can make your own most of us will never get our hands on any of our own.  This one was created by a Russian modder who posted his project in a forum for us all to drool over.  He’s nice like that.  He even crafted a box to display it in.  He doesn’t give a single bit of fun details on how long it took or what he used.

Allume Retractable Light For The Indecisive

July 15th, 2008 by AndrewD in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

Humans are instinctively dynamic. While we might fear some changes, there are plenty of the small things in life that we just get sick of seeing in the same place all of the time. For instance, say you have a chandelier, or any hanging light for that matter, in your dining room or kitchen. Can you honestly say you’ve never been pissed off about its location?

There are just times where you wish you could move that damn thing up a few inches or maybe slide it lower towards the ground by a foot or so. If you’ve ever yanked on those chintzy chains which hold hanging lights, you know that their strength is sometimes unforgiving. Napastyle offers an excellent retractable light, made just for those moments of indecisiveness.

Musical Light Show

July 15th, 2008 by AndrewD in Audio/Video Gadgets

Flashing lights have been known to trigger seizures in some people. I’ve personally never had a problem, but for some this latest gadget might be a bad idea.

With that said, adding a personal lightshow to your music sounds like a pretty cool idea, am I right? The LED Lightshow Speaker is a customizable light effect speaker which comes with an assortment of different patters for creating your own lightshow matrix.

Lifemap puts you on the map

July 15th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Digital Cameras, Photography

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of pictures. They are on my digital camera, my video camera, my cellular phone, and some of them have actually made it onto my computer for permanent storage. One day, one fine day, I shall put them all on an album or something as a chronicle of my life.

I believe that the Lifemap is for that purpose. What you do is attach a digital camera or other photo-taking device to the Lifemap, and you can put all of your photos in proper order. Beyond that, that is all my source knows on this particular invention, besides the fact that it has a QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen.

iJerry and iPiggy bring sound to your desk, literally

July 15th, 2008 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets

If you want sound from your computer, MP3 Player, or any audio video device, there are two ways you could go about it. You could plug in a headphone jack and have a private experience, or you could attach some stereo speakers and publicly rock the house.

There is of course a third alternative that mixes the first two choices: the iJerry. This little rabbit shaped guy plugs into any headphone jack, then somehow transforms any hard flat surface into a speaker. I’m not certain how it works, but it produces good quality sound, making your audio experience both public and private.

According to the iJerry product page on Gadget4all, the iJerry takes the technology of the “super-energy crystal material”. This somehow uses the “object resonating sound production principle” to cause any flat material such as wood, glass, or any other flat material.

The Ultrasonic Collar stops your dogs barking without shocking

July 15th, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, Pet Gadgets

If you hate getting those collars that zap your dog every time it barks, then you might give this one a try instead.  Although the shock collars are a bit more entertaining for those with a  slightly twisted sense of humor (me), eventually your dog is probably going to hate you.  This dog collar will instead just annoy your dog by sending out an obnoxious frequency.  Which over time will make them not want to bark all the time.  See, this is why I have a cat, I have heard my cat make a noise like all of five times in her entire life.  Which means no need for a collar to keep her quiet.
