Personal Relaxation Coach

November 19th, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

ps-coachAfter a long, hard day at the office, it makes sense if you just want to kick off your shoes and de-stress right away. If you can’t really afford expensive spa treatments, the next best thing would be remedies that can be done at home – and this is where the Personal Relaxation Coach from Hammacher attempts to help.

This is the device used by the Mayo Clinic and Duke Medical Center to help patients reduce their stress and anxiety without medication. Synchronizing your breathing with the rise and fall of the device’s illuminated LEDs and audible cues has been shown to slow heart rate, improve relaxation, and reduce stress in as soon as five minutes. Relying on the same breathing techniques taught in yoga for relaxation and stress reduction, the relaxation coach takes a pulse reading from your thumb or earlobe and instantly develops a rhythmic breathing sequence for you to follow. About the size of an MP3 player, the device stores unobtrusively in a pocket, allowing convenient use before any potentially stressful event, such as a business meeting or prior to boarding a plane. Rechargeable battery lasts up to six hours after a three-hour charge.

A non-medication route, using lights to control your breathing? Would be nice to see the $199.95 you parted with for this include some sort of built-in aromatherapy segment for added effect.

R/C Wooden Puzzle Dinosaurs

November 19th, 2009 by Edwin in Remote Control, Remote Control Toys

rc-dinoWe’ve all seen puzzle dinosaurs made out of wood pieces before, but ThinkGeek takes things to the next level with their range of R/C Wooden Puzzle Dinosaurs! While they come with less parts than a real dinosaur skeleton counterpart, it will definitely freak your friends out as they see it move around, making them do a double take and pinch themselves as they look around your home to see if other miniatures have a life of their own ala Night at the Museum.

First you must assemble of course, but once you’ve jacked in the included motors and electronics you’re ready to rumble. Not only can you control your dino’s movements via remote, he (or she) roars and reacts to sound.

There are three play modes to choose from – demo, free and R/C mode. You will require a mix of AA and AAA batteries for the whole thingamajic to work with each other, where you can choose from the T-rex or stegosaurus models for $39.99 a pop.

StrapYa Music Card MP3 Player with built-in speaker

November 19th, 2009 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets

Strapya’s products at best could be described as eccentric most of the time.  This product is definitely odd, but it would actually be useful.  It’s so thin you could easily carry it around or lose it for that matter.  Plus it’s not only an MP3 player that’ll play all of your music through your headphones, it also has a built-in speaker to play your music out loud as well.  Sure, it’s not going to be the highest quality of gadget out there, but it at least plays your music.

Beaba Babycook is a baby sized food processor for making your own baby food.

Beaba Babycook is a baby sized food processor for making your own babyfood.

I remember when our boy was first born, I reeled over the cost of baby food. But what can you do, they have you over a barrel as a concerned parent isn’t about to strike out on their own to make pureed food for their child’s sensitive stomachs. Or are they? I have to admit, I would’ve tried the Beaba BabyCook.

The next version of the Flip Mino Pocket Camcorder will have wireless capability ...

When Apple announced video capability in the iPod Nano and a video camcorder in the iPhone 3Gs, Cisco saw a dramatic increase in YouTube video uploads. And as such, they saw the handwriting on the wall. Sure, the Flip has the edge with HD, but to have an all in one solution with the iPhone has forced Cisco, the new owners of Flip Video, to get working on a response. And to that end, they’ve announced that the next model of the phenomenally successful Flip Video Pocket Camcorders will come with built in Wi-Fi. But that’s not all.

The winner of last week’s coolest gadget competition is the Printbrush, The World’s Smallest Mobile Printer.
