Kingston launches next generation SSDNow V+ solid-state drive

by Edwin - on November 3, 2010

Kingston is a name which is synonymous with flash memory, and it is no surprise to see the company roll out another next generation SSDNow V+ solid-state drive which will come in the form of the Kingston SSDNow V+100. What does this new thingamajoc offer? Well, you can more or less be sure that it will offer superior performance over its predecessors, where the V+100 will target corporations instead of regular home users with a viable solution to extend the life of currently installed client systems without compromising on user performance expectations. In a nutshell, Kingston will not offer something that skimps on performance figures, and yet is reliable enough for an enterprise set up.

Watch this Micromouse do a maze in 5 seconds, eventually

by Mark R - on November 3, 2010

This micromouse robot competition is some international event that involves a tiny automated robotic mouse that goes through a maze, studying every possible turn, and then restarts, going through the maze as fast as possible.

Go ahead and watch the video after the jump so you can see the mouse go slowly through the maze and then speed through it in about five seconds. Granted, it takes a while before the video gets to that point, but this is one of those vids where you want to see all the opening acts before the final show.

R.A.T.9 wireless professional gaming mouse from Mad Catz begins to ship

by Edwin - on November 3, 2010

Gamers who take their hobby seriously will surely have at least one or two pieces of hardware that is of high quality in their quest to be the best, if not in the world, then at least among their clique. Of course, we know that latent ability and talent plays a very huge role here as we are pretty sure if you hand Fatal1ty a standard issue Microsoft mouse to go up against you in a game of Quake with the latest Razer, you will still have a can of whoop ass opened on you.

I have always maintained that gaming peripherals are a two-eged sword, if you win more games, you can always cite your victories to superior hardware, and if you lose despite having the best hardware, it will definitely be a big blow to your ego since you will be left wondering whether gaming is the right career path for you. Mad Catz joins the gaming fray with their latest offering, the R.A.T.9 wireless professional gaming mouse that has started to ship.

Interface with 3D Graphics with the axsotic 3D-Spheric-Mouse

by Mark R - on November 3, 2010

One of the problems with computer mice is they are made for a two-dimensional world. You can go along with length and width, but if you want your cursor to travel on a z-axis, picking it up isn’t going to make a bit of difference.

Of course, most of us are quite satisfied with a two-dimensional screen. However, those who are in computer graphics have to work in a 3D world.

Fortunately, there is a mouse for that. This axosotic 3D-Spheric-Mouse can be pushed, pulled, and lifted to re-position a model in 3D space. There is a video after the jump so you can see how it works.

There’s just something wonderful about an actual photo album, sure we have digital slideshows and computer back-ups and stuff saved to disc, but to be able to just pick up a book of pictures, well, its almost a luxury these days.

WowWee Paperjamz – Flat out cool

by Julie - on November 3, 2010

Once again I find myself enthralled with the things they come up with these days, after weeks of begging and pleading by my daughter, I finally made the run to our local toy emporium to check out Paperjamz, these ingenious little instruments utilize Active Graphics Technology™ which is pretty much paper, with circuits embedded inside that allow your kids to “play” the instrument by touching the right spots on the surface of the paper.

Basically, a very cost effective cardboard guitar that has 4 different styles of play including a freestyle mode that allows you to play real chords. Also available are the Paperjamz drum sets, same premise and the same modes of play.

Dentist’s Teeth Whitener

by Edwin - on November 2, 2010

Going to the dentist is something many people dread, simply because there is just so much uncertainty on whether you’re going to receive a load of pain or not. Extremely large needles are also another thing to be very scared of, especially when you are at the mercy of the dentist, sitting haplessly on his chair with your mouth agape. Why not fork out $49.95 on a device that might just keep the dentist smiling and inflict minimal pain on you instead, with the Dentist’s Teeth Whitener? Boasting a similar teeth-whitening technology preferred by dentists to whiten teeth by up to four shades in a week, all you need to do is apply the medical-grade whitening gel and hold the plasma light to your teeth for a couple of minutes to accelerate the whitening process by up to 200% over typical bleaching toothpaste. Each purchase comes with a couple of mouthpieces, 1/3 oz. of whitening gel, and a whiteness shade guide that monitors your progress. The device itself is powered by three AA batteries, although we aren’t too sure how long they will last.
