The LED Hourglass

December 14th, 2008 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

Here’s another twist to old technology, it takes the hourglass and updates it.  Instead of sand slowly seeping to the other half it’s LED lights.  It not only would work great as a kitchen timer, but would be an interesting piece to have sitting out in any room.  It would be difficult to figure out exactly how much time you have left before it’s done.  Yet, it would still look great while counting down.

December 14th, 2008 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets, iPod gadgets

If you’ve managed to wait until the very last minute to pick up a gift for your pre-teen or teen girl, then you might want to check out PBTeen.  They usually have several cute products that sync up with your gadgets.  This time they have the Painted Dot iChair.  I’m sure you can guess what it’s meant to hook up to by the name of the chair itself.  The cute polka dotted seat looks pretty and hooks up to any MP3 player as well as other audio devices.

The Black & Decker Ll4000 3.6-Volt Lithium-Ion SmartDriver

December 14th, 2008 by Ally in DIY Gadgets, Home Gadgets

The older we get, the less coordinated we’re going to be.  Eventually our hands will likely shake and it’ll be difficult to do certain tasks.  Frankly, I already am overly clumsy and lack coordination at times.  Well if you’re either just clumsy or getting up there in years, but still want a way to be independent with your DIY projects, this is the way to go.  Magnetic screwdrivers are always incredibly helpful, well this SmartDriver takes things one step further.

Twilight Sea Turtle

December 13th, 2008 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Sea turtles are an endangered species these days no thanks to the destruction of their habitat by us irresponsible humans, and we might end up having to see these at a zoo in the future instead of viewing them at their natural habitat when the nest. ThinkGeek has a Twilight Sea Turtle that is able to project stars onto the ceiling at night to keep the little ones entertained in awe and wonder before they hit the sack.

Kids will enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep under Twilight Sea Turtle’s starry night sky. This fun and educational nightlight is designed to help children sleep easier and also help bring awareness to endangered sea animals. Twilight Sea Turtle’s beautiful shell illuminates in three soothing colors while also highlighting five endangered sea friends,…the Blue Whale, California Sea Otter, Knysna Seahorse, Leatherback Turtle and Vaquita Dolphin. The Twilight Storybook includes a Twilight Sea Turtle story which teaches children about endangered sea animals, a helpful Star Guide and an adoption certificate. A portion of the proceeds from Twilight Sea Turtle will be donated to an international conservation organization.

Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, the Twilight Sea Turtle boasts a 45-minute timer and comes with an illuminating shell for a calming nightlight effect, retailing for $33.99 a pop.

Clear Harmony Noise Canceling Headphones

December 12th, 2008 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets

I had a chance to try out the Clear Harmony Noise Canceling Headphones from Able Planet. Generally, there isn’t much to say when reviewing a new pair of headphones, but I would definitely recommend a pair of these.

What I liked most about these headphones was the comfort. The earphones are cushioned, and so is the bar that connects them. All of these cushions work together to insulate my ears from most outside audio noise. Not only could they really block out the rest of the world, but the full immersive sound was unique.

JingPeng E1181 cell phone has detachable camera

December 12th, 2008 by Mark R in Coolest Mobile News, Digital Cameras, Mobile Phones, Photography

Remember back when cellular phones didn’t have cameras? Now it is a requirement. Considering the low megapixel cameras that are often tacked on to high-priced smartphones, it is nice to see a cellular phone that invests a lot of time in the camera.

In the case of the JingPeng E1181, it tried something new. This phone allows the user to completely detach the camera as well as its rechargeable battery and place it up to 30 feet away. Wireless video footage can then be transmitted live from the camera section to the phone portion via RF. The user can then watch it on the phone’s three inch screen.

It sounds like something that James Bond would use on a covert mission. It also sounds like something perverts would use to get some shots of the ladies locker room. I suppose “use wisely” should be stamped on this product.

Nintendo DS an E-book reader?

December 12th, 2008 by Mark R in Coolest Mobile News, Gaming Gadgets

Considering that e-book readers are practically a standard feature with most Portable Media Players, it is no surprise that the versatile Nintendo DS is trying to get in on the action.

I’m not saying that all Nintendo DS devices will be e-book readers, but HarperCollins has worked with Nintendo to create the Collins Pocket Classic series in e-book form for the famed portable gaming system.

The Collins Pocket Classic series include such great works of literature including Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and more. HarperCollins has also commissioned new introductions for each book, as well as its author.
