Scala Rider Q2 for Motorcyclists Taking Calls on the Road

November 21st, 2008 by Mark R in Bluetooth, Coolest Mobile News, Sport

Considering the recent United States legislation that has come out against drivers using cellular phones behind the wheel, I haven’t heard anything about similar laws being passed on motorcyclists. I guess I figured that motorcyclists can’t answer the phone and ride with one hand, and the helmets that they are supposed to be wearing would have really bad reception.

Cardo Systems is all over this problem with the Scala Rider Q2. The Q2 allows for hands-free communication when paired with a cellular phone, and it will allow headset-to-headset communication of up to 1,640 feet (500 meters).

The Q2 can also wirelessly connect to other audio sources so the motorcyclist can get instructions from a GPS device, or mobile conversations with third parties.

Multifunction keychain with built-in universal remote

November 21st, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets

Keychains rarely have useful, much less multiple useful functions.  However, this little guy may be small but he is packed full of all kinds of useful items.  First of all is the universal TV remote, which makes it so that you can turn the volume up or down as well as change channels and shut the TV off entirely.  Yes, it has its devious benefits of screwing with a friend’s TV.  Yet it also could be used as a back up when you manage to lose the remote.  Which we all have from time to time, I’ve even managed to find mine in the kitchen and on one occasion set down in the fridge.  So needless to say a universal remote keychain would come in handy.

Scotsman Beer Dispenser Pours Ten Pints in Ten Seconds

The Scotsman Trufill beer dispenser takes a different approach to filling pints, by filling from the bottom up. In doing so, it is able to serve beer at the alarmingly fast rate of ten pints in ten seconds. One would assume that a specialized cups or glasses are required in order to make use of the bottom-up filling method, but if it gets us beer faster, I am all for it.

PARO robot heading towards the US

November 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Robot Gadgets

Robots are meant to be cold and calculative, but nice to know that the human touch is still there in the PARO robot. In case this sounds familiar, you might have read about a robotic seal-like creature making its rounds on the Internet in the past year, talking about the PARO robot. Well, this white, furry chunk of circuitry and plush materials does not only look cute, it has a higher purpose in its life(span). Its mission is to offer relaxation, entertainment and companionship to the owners. More on the PARO robot right after the jump.

ZAGG introduces Z.buds earphones

November 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets

ZAGG is a household name when it comes to mobile electronics accessories, and their latest release would be the new Z.buds earphones. The Z.buds earphones are special in a sense that they mark the debut of ZAGG’s maiden entry into the headphones market, and before it has even been sold, the Z.buds have already been named a 2009 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase Honoree. Guess we can be sure that the Z.buds will be a thing of beauty to look at, although there are bound to be some detractors who love nothing more than being a wet blanket, failing to see the silver lining behind every dark cloud all the time.

Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC

November 21st, 2008 by Edwin in Gaming Gadgets

There is just something about men and sports, how the former loves the latter to the death up to a point where even though the missus needs some help, pronto, around the home, he will just sit in his La-Z-Boy chair while enjoying the game. Motorsports also has a large following, since this adrenaline pumping spectator sport allows us to escape into a world where speed wins, and there are enough thrills and spills in each race to keep the excitement level up at all times. There are bound to be moments when we think that we’re good enough to enter the NASCAR or Formula 1 circuit, but sadly, reality bites. Well, good thing there is this thing called computer games, and technology has advanced to such a point where you’ll be able to get a pretty realistic look and feel of how car racing works in the comfort of your home, and with peripherals like Fanatec’s Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel for PS3 and PC, you won’t come away with a bitter taste in your mouth where hardware is concerned.

BlackBerry Storm now available on Verizon Wireless

November 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Mobile Phones, Office Gadgets

Since the iPhone was launched last year, all we’ve heard about was iPhone this and iPhone that. For a while, it seemed as though the whole world was caught up in iPhone fever, and it looked like the iPhone is going to be the de facto handset for everyone just like how the iPod is currently king of the hill where portable media players are concerned. Good to know that iPhone fever has died down, although that doesn’t mean it won’t continue to do well though. Other cell phone manufacturers have also stepped up their efforts in a bid to dethrone the iPhone as the definitive touchscreen handset, and we’ve seen efforts from Samsung and LG as well as Nokia recently, but those have failed to capture the imagination of the masses as how the iPhone did. Well, there is some hope that the recently released BlackBerry Storm over Verizon Wireless could be the messiah, or is it not?

Kingston DataTraveler 150 arrives at 64GB milestone

November 20th, 2008 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

Kingston is well know for their range of memory products, and the DataTraveler line has been pretty popular all this while. This time round, they have just increased the maximum capacity in the Kingston DataTraveler 150 USB flash drive to touch the 64GB mark, making it a viable substitute for portable hard drives.

According to Jaja Lin, Flash business development manager, Kingston, “The new 64GB DataTraveler 150 takes transportable storage to the next level with big capacity in a small package. As file sizes increase with digital media content such as music and photos, the need for USB Flash drives with high capacities will continue to rise. The DT150 certainly addresses those needs today.”

You won’t have any problems with the Kingston DataTraveler 150 64GB running on Windows Vista, XP and Windows 2000 in addition to Mac OS X 10.3 (and above) and Linux 2.6 (and above) platforms. Each $177 purchase comes with a five-year warranty and 24/7 tech support.
