InFocus to use USB display technology
Details are still sketchy concerning this agreement concerning projector maker InFocus’ interest in using USB display technology from DisplayLink to work on a whole new line of projectors from the second half of 2008 onwards. While the DisplayLink technology has worked well thus far, chances are it will be inadequate to cater for high-end games, no thanks to the USB cable’s relatively limited bandwith. Then again, if you’re a hardcore gamer who wants to see your games on a display much larger than what the monitor can offer, you will probably settle for a totally different, high-end projector instead. Other than that, standard PowerPoint presentations ought to fare just fine over USB display technology in the upcoming InFocus projectors.

Sega Toys i-Spin

It has been a while since I had the urge to yell “Sega” like those old Sega Genesis ads from the early nineties. However, seeing this i-Spin (pronounced Ice-pin) from Sega Toys was just enough to make me yell it out all over again.
Basically, the i-Spin is a dancing speaker robot that has the ability to move around on the dance floor and wiggle its ears to the beat of the ambient music. This takes me back to the time of the “Boppin’ flowers” that would move to the beat of whatever music you played near them.
The i-Spin can also do more than dance to the background music, but it can connect to an MP3 player such as the iPod. Why else do you think there is a little “i” at the beginning of its name? Basically, you attach the music, and the little Dogbert wannabe gets its groove on.

Coby MP735 portable media player

Coby has unveiled the MP735 portable media player to the rest of the world at CeBIT 2008. In addition to its rather small 1.66″ LCD color display, you get a touch-based navigation system and swiveling-type stereo speakers. No idea on how much this will cost nor when will it be available, but I think the display is way too small for a portable media player. After all, squinting one’s eyes 10 minutes into a movie is just plain unacceptable, what more if you’re stuck on a long haul flight, having left your iPod at home.

Temperature changing mug might not be useful, but is still cool

I must be dehydrated, because I’m writing about another drinking-related gadget. This one is a bit more simplistic than the single-serve blender I spoke of earlier. Some people tend to burn their hands (or tongues) on hot coffee or hot chocolate, which is never fun. Other times you’ll leave a cup sitting around for longer than you realize, then take a swig of a disgustingly-cold drink. That’s never fun. This simple mug makes it blindingly obvious how warm your drink is.

USB Drum Kit creates a ruckus
If you just wish you could translate your finger drumming skills into something more tangible, here’s the USB Drum Kit to help you out.
Your USB Drum Kit includes six different pad areas (snare, kick & two toms). Simply install the included software, plug your kit in, and let your rhythmical hammered fists of fury fly. The software will allow you to control and select the various sounds programmed to each pad. You can choose between 50 percussion sounds, 20 preprogrammed percussion sets and 100 preprogrammed beats. If you are a n00b, you can select the ‘learning mode’ and play along to some pre recorded beats. Otherwise, just enjoy the free play mode. When you think you are good enough (the cute sales droid down the aisle starts paying you some mind), you can even record your riffs and save to .wav file.
Get this annoying desktop toy for just $29.99 from ThinkGeek.
MovinCool Office Pro 63 cooling system
Keeping yourself cool during the summer often involves wearing very light and thin clothing, putting enough sunblock on your skin, wearing a pair of UV-resistant sunglasses, and sipping a pina colada out in the lawn with a good book in hand. Oh yeah, when you get back into your room, chances are it is going to be rather hot as well, so there is a very real need to turn on the air conditioner. While a standard air conditioner is good enough for humans, what about computer servers? Those electrical behemoths require cooling all the time, regardless of the season at hand. Enter the Office Pro 63 cooling system. Read more on the product description right after the jump.

CoolSystems Game Ready injury treatment system
CoolSystems has rolled out its next generation of Game Ready injury treatment system that comprises of form-fitting wraps, cold and intermittent compression as well as adjustable pressure and temperature settings. This unique injury treatment system was specially designed to be used for treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and post-operative rehabilitation. While ordinary folks like you and I will benefit greatly from using this after picking up a nasty gym injury, I suppose it is even more essential for serious athletes to have something like this in the locker room. After all, they are paid a king’s ransom weekly (footballers at least), so being on the sidelines for too long is definitely bad business for everyone involved.

Spongebob Squarepants rectal thermometer

Mention rectal thermometer and you can see a lump forming in my throat. I just hate any sort of probes going up where the sun don’t shine, but if I were a kid and I see Spongebob Squarepants smiling widely like that, chances are the pain would automatically lessen (or even disappear) when he gets down to business. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be smiling like Spongebob if I knew just which orifice I was created to be stuck into. The Spongebob Squarepants rectal thermometer retails for $16.95 from Amazon.
