July 17th, 2009 by Al in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Gadget Competitions

We have some GREAT entries this week, so will be interesting to see what you think is coolest (as usual vote and comment for a chance to win $50 Amazon voucher).

Washable Keyboard

Washable Keyboard

The Washable Keyboard is perfect if you like to keep your work station clean. Its amazing how many germs and pieces of food get onto your keyboard in a short space of time and with the Washable Keyboard it makes cleaning it so simple. With a normal keyboard its pretty much impossible to clean them properly as most are not waterproof. With this being 100% waterproof it means your keyboard won’t stop working if you happen to spill your drink on it either.

Wind Up Walkie Talkies

Wind Up Walkie Talkies

This is no “Wind Up”, ha ha (had to get that joke in before anyone else). What you’re looking at is a set of walkie talkies that are powered through the age old art of “winding”. Like clocks of old, to make these little eco-gadgets work you simply flick out the wind handle, take a firm grip and wind like a good-un. The wind to power ratio works out surprisingly satisfactualy as well.

DSS Co. Ltd. can track those pesky employees

July 16th, 2009 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, Office Gadgets

lgirn89231-thumb-465x319-20815Okay, let’s say that you are the Big Boss of a huge corporation. The bigger your company gets, the harder it is to keep track of your employees. Unless you call DSS Co. Ltd. and go from Big Boss to Big Brother.

Yes, this Japanese company will give your company an intense tracking system that includes a tiny video camera that can be attached to the chest pockets of your minions, I mean, workers.

Also included in the surveillance package are ankle sensors, just like the kinds used in house arrests! These ankle bracelets have “milestone” sensor points that can track how long a worker has been in a certain area. For some reason, DSS gets a high amount of readings around the coffee machine, copier, and the water cooler.

The R2-Q5 USB Hub

July 16th, 2009 by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets

star-wars-r2-q5-usb-hub

I have already come across R2-D2 USB hub, which is extremely similar to this one.  However, if you’re looking for a slightly less obvious Star Wars accessory, then you might enjoy this one.  It’s the R2-Q5 USB Hub.  It’s pretty much the same as R2-D2, only it has a slightly darker paint job added to it.  Which could make it appeal to those that are tired of all of the bright white gadgets out there.  Plus you can only own so many R2-D2 products before you need to branch out to other droids.

Seura The One HDTV on a Mirror

July 16th, 2009 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets

myphoto13That last time we reported on Seura, they were working on putting custom LED lighting on mirrors, and they have advanced to LCD TVs.

The television is a 19-inch 1080p with a 16:9 widescren ratio. With this TV is a ATSC/NTSC tuner, an HDMI input, a PC input, plus a waterproof remote control in case you decide to hang this in the bathroom.

ClimbStation

July 16th, 2009 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, Sport

climbstationThis Climbstation isn’t a video-game accessory to an outdoor version of PlayStation, but it is definitely one of the most technological ways to train for the grueling sport of rock climbing.

The climbing platform itself is 150 centimeters wide with about 90 holds that can be placed wherever the user wants. It can also tilt with an angle that adjusts from +15 to -30 degrees for an added challenge.

From what I can tell, the ClimbStation is like a vertical treadmill that revolves at a top speed of 17 meters per minute. In fact, the Climbstation can automatically adjust the scrolling speed to match the user’s climbing speed, or lack thereof. I’m guessing that the padding is placed underneath in case the climber cannot keep up.

Eternaled’s HydraLux uses liquid cooling to function

July 16th, 2009 by Ally in Eco Gadgets

hydralux-4

There’s now a new light bulb out there that gives you the energy efficiency you love, along with a slightly more traditional light bulb look.  I’ve heard of several people that aren’t very fond of the look of spiral bulbs, yet they still use them since it does cut back on their power bill.  Well this small LED bulb keeps things energy efficient in a very different way that allows for it to be shaped this way.  It actually uses liquid-cooling technology.

Professional Flash Mega Kit from Brando

July 16th, 2009 by Ally in Miscellaneous Gadgets

flash-set

Earlier this week, you may have seen the inflatable flash diffuser.  Well that’ll work great for the extremely casual photographer who just wants a little more edge.  However, if you’re looking to step things up quite a bit more, you might want to look into this kit from Brando.  It’s nothing that a professional photographer would be interested in.  However, an amateur who really just wants to work on the quality of their photos would be just fine with a kit like this.
