Introducing the Roku 2!
I had a chance to try out the Roku a while ago, and I am not certain whether version 2.0 is long overdue. According to the official site, this next version is “smaller and more fun than ever”.
In case you are not familiar with the Roku, it is a streaming device that allows the user to enjoy movies, TV shows, live sports, music, and games. When I tried version one, it was connected to Netflix and my home network.
This version has 300 channels, Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Hulu Plus, Crackle, YouTube, and much more on the video front. On the audio front, it streams from Pandora, Last.fm, Rdio, and the user can buy subscriptions for NBA, NHL, and UFC sports coverage. This smaller version fits in the palm of one’s hand.

Apple scores another first with their latest Apple Thunderbolt Display, where it is said to be the first of any display in the world that sports Thunderbolt I/O technology (hence its name, of course), making it the ultimate docking station for your Mac notebook. All it takes is a solitary cable so that you are able to hook up a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac to the new 27” Apple Thunderbolt Display, giving you access to a plethora of ports and connectivity options to boot which you will see in the extended post.

Angry Birds Knock On Wood Game
You’ve played the Angry Birds game on your smartphone so many times with different expansions, hoping to collect three stars from each level and attaining golden eggs in the process. Well, what happens when you’ve done all that and mastered the virtual physics of Angry Birds? Surely there must be more to life than that, right? The answer is correct – you can now chuck your bird for real with the £19.99 Angry Birds Knock On Wood Game.
I first saw this at CES earlier this year, where it isn’t ready to be marketed just yet, but I guess things have changed now as the Angry Birds phenomenon does seem to be slowing down a tad bit – after all, there are only so many ways you can flip a bird, pardon the pun. Bring the Angry Birds to the physical world with this game, where you will draw a scenario from a deck of cards, build the obstacle with green piggies all over the place, while your opponent will attempt to knock down the structure and kill those porkers by catapulting the trio of Angry Birds in his/her possession.
Star Wars: 3D Darth Vader Helmet Wall Clock
Darth Vader strikes fear in to most people in the galaxy – after all, he is the Dark Lord of the Sith who has blown up planets to bits using the Death Star without shedding a tear. Having said that, what kind of devices that bears his namesake do you think will be able to sell? Plenty, actually. The Star Wars: 3D Darth Vader Helmet Wall Clock that you see here? For just £27.99, you will be able to mount a visage of his Lordship on the wall, and at the turn of each hour, his eyes will start to glow red in a menacing manner. Not only that, your ears will be treated to Darth’s famous signature mechanical breathing sound. Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, we think that this is one of the cooler wall clocks we’ve ever seen – even more so if you are a Star Wars fan.
Apple Mac OS X Lion released

Do you want to experience “the world’s most advanced operating system”? Well, surely you would have heard Apple “roar” when it came to the release of their latest version of the Mac operating system – OS X Lion. This is the 8th iteration of the operating system, bringing to the table (or rather Mac) over 250 new features. You can easily download it from the Mac App Store for $29.99 a pop, with the physical version coming your way in due time just in case you prefer having something physical in your hand for the amount of money exchanged.
Among the features that are found inside OS X Lion would include new Multi-Touch gestures, system-wide support for full screen apps, Mission Control which is an innovative view of everything that runs on your Mac, the Mac App Store that has been built straight into the OS, alongside Launchpad – a new home for all your apps, not to mention an overhauled Mail app.

Apple MacBook Air gets update

What some deem to be the world’s thinnest notebook (some Apple haters still claim that this is a netbook, although I am inclined to disagree with that assessment even though I am not an Apple fanboy) has just gotten better – and just in case you were wondering how that is possible, why don’t you keep on reading? I’m sure you might even end up looking forward to get hold of the new MacBook Air eventually.
Not only does the updated MacBook Air come with next generation processors, it will also be able to handle high-speed data transmissions thanks to the inclusion of the new Thunderbolt I/O technology, in addition to a backlit keyboard to let you work late into the night without any light in the background, and Mac OS X Lion doing the brunt of the work to keep everything together – software-wise, of course.

Apple updates Mac mini

The delectable Mac mini from Apple is back again – this time updated with next generation Intel core processors, in addition to the introduction of new discrete graphics, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology and Mac OS Lion, the latest version of what Apple calls as “the world’s most advanced operating system”. That is certainly a very high billing to live up to, where the new Mac mini rolls out up to double the processor and graphics performance of its predecessor – never mind that the compact and efficient aluminum design are retained.
Just how much do you expect to pay for something this new? How about $599 as the entry price point? That is certainly quite a tempting figure to begin with, and for those living in the US, you can place your orders for the new Mac mini from today onwards – while the physical model can always be picked up from a brick-and-mortar store from tomorrow onwards if you prefer touching your purchase beforehand. To know more about what Apple has put into the new Mac mini, why not give the rest of the story after the jump a go?

Dr Who: Tardis USB 4 Port Hub
USB ports are to geeks just as handbags and shoes are to fashion forward ladies – do you subscribe to that ideology? Well, if you answered in the affirmative, perhaps you might be interested in the £22.99 Dr Who: Tardis USB 4 Port Hub. The name of this peripheral says it all – at that kind of price, you will be able to hold imaginary scenes right in front of you with the Tardis as the meeting point for your characters, while transferring data from a USB flash drive over to the computer (or vice versa). After all, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, so why not send that noggin’ of yours into overdrive while you curse the slow speed of USB 2.0 compared to USB 3.0?
This 4-port USB hub will replicate the 1950s police phonebox, complete with a flashing lantern on the Tardis roof in addition to time-travelling sound effects, although you won’t be able to turn back the hands of time with this – not even when you Ctrl-Z a dozen times on your keyboard.
