Lexon Around Clock Sets Time To Run Full Circle

by AndrewD - on June 19, 2008

There’s just something about unconventional clock design that lures us geeks in like nothing else. Perhaps it has to do with the allure of physics and the constant progression of time. Or maybe it’s just because there are a ton of really cool clock designs. Whatever the reason, cool clocks never cease to impress us.

The Lexon Around Clock is no exception. Resembling something like an egg-timer flipped on its side and smashed flat into a circular dial, the Around Clock is an analogue time piece which displays the time with cylinder rotation. Basically, the middle portion revolves as the time progresses. The Around Clock has an undeniably retro feel.

‘Trading Faces’ Digital Mirror Is Like A Real Life Face/Off

by AndrewD - on June 19, 2008

Does anyone remember that movie with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta where technology has advanced so much that people are capable of having an entire body transplant, including their face? Pretty sweet flick now that I think about it. And while we haven’t quite reached the point of totally accurate face transplants, there is some digital technology that might allow us to do something similar, just for fun, completely virtually.

It’s called “Trading Faces” and the project actually revolves around the use of digital mirrors to superimpose other peoples faces on your own. Except for the fact that users have someone elses facial features, they look totally normal. But the progress of this sort of technology could possibly lead to some pretty suspicious motives.

A Treadmill Desk With Multi-Screen Displays

by AndrewD - on June 19, 2008

There’s no doubt about it. Treadmill desks are an awesome way to keep the internet surf flowing as your get your heart pumping. We’ve covered an assortment of treadmill desks over the years, but there is one feature which is lacking from each and every one of them. Where is our multi-screen support?

So many hardcore geeks these days are using upwards of three or more displays for their computing rig, yet when it’s time to jog on the treadmill for an hour, we’re forced to downgrade to a single monitor. What sort of quality of life is this? The JW Treadmill desk offers support for multiple displays as well as providing an ample amount of surface space for any knick-knacks or paperwork.

Lightpipe looks like it is glowing with radioactive goo

by Ally - on June 19, 2008

This odd little light is created to look like an industrial pipe. To many it might just be a lighted pipe, but being a big Ninja Turtles geek, it has me wishing that I had the dough to snag one myself. The industrial pipe, to me, gives the look of toxic goo flowing down a sewer pipe. Although it might not blend well in many homes, it’d look great in any geeky office. Especially if it were decked out in Mario Bros decals. Sewer pipes have all kinds of geek appeal and would look great in a child’s room as well.

i2i Stream Two Pack from Aerielle, Inc.

by Mark R - on June 19, 2008

There are times when we are listening to a song on our MP3 player, and we want our friends to hear it to. I believe that the illegal way is to have your friends download the song onto their MP3 players, but I think we all know that sharing music files is bad.

Fortunately, there legal ways to share a song with devices like the i2i Stream Two Pack from Aerielle, Inc. These i2i streams are universally compatible with iPod and other MP3 players.

All you have to do is connect one i2i stream to your MP3 player and hit the send button. The other stream must be connected to your friend’s MP3 player, and he or she must hit “Receive”. Your friend will now hear exactly what you hear with a wireless signal that can be sent or received at 30 feet.

You can send the signal to more than one i2i Stream. The device even has several different frequencies so you won’t disturb other i2i Streamers. The frequencies can be switched at the touch of a button, and each one is represented by a different colored light.

Hasbro and Tiger Electronics A.M.P.

by Mark R - on June 19, 2008

Can anyone tell me what is happening on Battlestar Galactica lately? It used to be that it was humans vs. Cylons, but now it’s like Cylons vs. Cylons, humans forming alliances with Cylons that look like humans, and some odd religious stuff thrown in. It almost makes me long for the original series, which was, at best, an obvious Star Wars knock-off.

Well, the war between the humans and Cylons just took an odd turn as Hasbro’s Tiger Electronics introduced the A.M.P., the Automated Music Personality. The A.M.P. has a sleek black finish and stands 29 inches tall with two perfectly balanced wheels like a Segway.

The A.M.P. is an apt acronym as a user can stick an MP3 Player on its back and watch the A.M.P. dance. Somehow, it can “express his personality through 49 LED lights and futuristic sound effects”. Speaking of sound, the A.M.P. has 12-watts of stereo sound that includes 2 tweeters, a mid-range speaker, plus a bass boost touch sensor.

CJ7 Dog Doll MP3 Player is a bit on the ugly side

by Ally - on June 19, 2008

Apparently this odd little MP3 player is modeled after a dog that appeared in Stephen Chow’s CJ7, which I had no idea was even in existence.  Maybe in my part of the world they didn’t deem it worthy of actually being presented in theaters.  However, someone decided it was worth a gadget being made after it.  I have to admit the movie trailer seemed decent and even a bit humorous.  Don’t worry, it was actually meant to be funny.  It wasn’t funny in the way that it would make its way onto MST3K, which I’m an addict for.
