A lamp made of plates

With the population growing and the amount of trash piling up from it, we’ve started finding a need to reuse old items. One new way to do so is to take old discarded plates and create something like this cute little lamp. This particular design was done by Denis Belenko and Dmitriy Nkolaenko and posted on their site this month. They created two different styles, one is extremely contemporary and the other much more childlike and playful. Which just goes to show with these little lamps you can create any style you like.

The Zihotch Retro Phone Watch resembles an old school rotary telephone on your wrist. There are no numbers, hands, or screens to tell you the time. You have to dial 117 and a voice speaks the time to you. If you dial wrong it says that number is not in service. If you forget which number to dial, you end up with an expensive rotary telephone bracelet.

Need To Know The Time Down To A Millionth Of A Second?
Much like Pi, the measurement of time stretches into the reaches of infinity. It’s actually pretty mind boggling if you think about it too long. Most clocks worry solely about the hours, minutes and seconds. If you’re lucky you have a stop-watch that reaches into the fractal confines of the second, maybe providing the tenth and hundredth of a second measurement.
The Digital Time concept by Freddie Yauner goes much, much further than that. Time changes so fast at the atomic level that many of us couldn’t even follow the changing of the numeral representation of time. The Digital Time measures the atomic time down to the millionth of a second!

Pistol Cam Shoots Video, Shoots You

Have you ever been unfortunate enough to view one of those grisly video productions called Faces Of Death? Basically they film people being killed, maimed, sliced or anything else which involves death and gore. The Pistol Cam might not help the production value at all, but it surely makes the filming easier. And we also hope that people don’t think of actually making those sort of videos with this device.
The Pistol Cam is basically a gun with a camera mounted on it. No, it’s not meant to capture all of your photogenic targets. The sheriff’s department SWAT team of Orange County, New York has started adding cigarette box-sized combo cameras, laser pointers, and flashlights onto their weapons, with the thought of violent accountability in mind.

‘Guitar Hero’ Action Figures Coming Soon

While we totally understood when Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft would have a cool set of action figures released in its vain, one game we didn’t expect to see action figures for was Guitar Hero. Branding an axe is only really considered action if you’re trying to slice someone in half with it, you know?
But nevertheless, Activision and McFarlane Toys are joining forces to create a line of Guitar Hero themed action figures for McFarlane’s fall line. Whether you want to collect them or just form a toy-led super band, the Guitar Hero action figures might have more success getting action than providing action if you know what I mean. That’s right. Chicks dig musicians.
Action figures will be available for the Axel Steel (pictured), Johnny Napalm, Lars Umlaut and the God of Rock characters from the hit game. Each of the guitar wielding heros will have 15-18 movable parts (hopefully not anatomically correct moving parts.)

Facebank: A Super Creepy Piggy Bank That Eats Your Coins
Imagine Cookie Monster from Sesame Street developed an insatiable hunger for coins. Then remove the huggable blue body, add a blockish, unintentionally creepy robotic face for chowing down on metal, and you’ll have something that resembles this Facebank. Created by, who else, but the Japanese, the Facebank is an exceedingly creepy piggy bank given human-like features.
Using a special sensor in the devices’ eyes, the Facebank knows when you’re about to insert a coin into its mouth. When you want to feed it a coin, the gadget’s mouth starts chomping, fueled by a robotic (and hardly silent) motor. Watch as the Facebank slowly digests your money down it’s metaphorical throat hole.

SoM-ToUR helps treat movement disorders
Step of Mind Ltd (SoM) has recently presented its concept and system that will be used in treating movement disorders, with the final product been dubbed SoM-ToUR. Sounds a bit out of this world, but here’s a brief description on what it does.
Based on the chaos theory and is a non-invasive solution that retrains the brain to process motor commands in a chaotic manner. The system is comprised of a specially designed shoe and proprietary software. The company aims to facilitate rehabilitation of persons with movement disorders (hemiplegia resulted from stroke or brain trauma, cerebral palsy), prevent deterioration of motor skills in the elderly, reduce muscle pain, and enhance performance in sports and leisure activities. SoM is led by a talented team of professionals with extensive backgrounds in neurophysiology, rehabilitation, motor dysfunctions, medical devices and business development.
I don’t know about you, but the thing attached to the shoe surely looks like some sort of whacked-out device.
