Kickin’ Video Soccer

August 23rd, 2006 by Mike in Toys

Kickin' Video SoccerThis is another arcade type post, this time the arcade version isn’t totally addicting, which is always a good thing.

The Kickin’ Video Soccer is a at home version of the game where you get a ball tethered to a rope and try to score on the virtual goalie. It’s pretty cool and can actually be fun, unless you’re losing.

Not only is there game modes, but you can practice your kicks (penalty kicks, too) and corner kicks. The game works because of the mat, it has built in sensors to detect where and how fast your foot is going, which is sent back to the TV.

Incredibly Portable DVD Player

August 23rd, 2006 by Liam in Audio/Video Gadgets

Incredibly Portable DVD Player
There seems to be hundreds of different portable DVD players out there, however for the most part they all have the flip-up, laptop kind of design. I find that this is a really neat and better design for a portable DVD player as it reminds me of a portable CD player, except with a screen on the top.

It’s great design lets you hold it right in the palm of your hand so you can watch your DVDs wherever you go in a much more compact and hand-held way. The plastic case is even padded with a rubber frame so it’s easy to grip, making it perfect for carrying around.

6-Foot Walk-on-Water Ball

August 23rd, 2006 by Liam in Toys

6-Foot Walk-on-Water Ball
This is a really fun idea for a summer gadget. The 6-Foot Walk-on-Water Ball lets you literally walk on water in the same kind of way hamsters can move around in plastic balls that roll.

It uses a very unique design featuring dozens of inset cups which provide some kind of grip against the water’s surface. You can then move as quickly as you can make the ball spin by running against the walls of the sphere.

These would be a whole lot of fun at an ocean or lake. I think it would be cool to try being pushed off of somewhere high and seeing if you can bounce off of the water!

Voice-activated Kelvin Talking Thermostat

August 23rd, 2006 by Edwin in Home Automation, Home Gadgets

Kelvin Talking Thermostat
Ever wished you could just communicate with your household appliances in the same manner as with a regular human being? The Kelvin Talking Thermostat does just that – you can adjust the temperature in your humble abode by just speaking into it. In addition you can also get an instant temperature reading by asking the device. This is a great addition to any home, as even the elderly or visually impaired will be able to take charge of the home’s temperature with very little or no problem at all.

Assign Drive Letter i to Your iPod

August 23rd, 2006 by methodshop in Software, iPod gadgets

Microsoft Windows assigns drive letters to disk volumes to help tell them apart. For example, the default letter assigned to your computer’s hard drive is probably ‘c.’ Each time you dock the iPod to a PC, Windows will assign the iPod the next available drive letter, such as ‘f’ or ‘g.’ But isn’t the letter ‘i’ the most appropriate drive letter assignment for the iPod?

Here’s a simple tutorial on how to assign the drive letter ‘i’ to an iPod connected to a PC using Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000.

Radio Controlled Indoor/Outdoor Helicopter

August 23rd, 2006 by Mike in Remote Control Toys

Helicopter
Remote control cars and trucks can wow kids, but wait until they find out there are remote controlled planes and helicopters, they’re just so much cooler. Problem is, they tend to work even worse than the cars, so it’s no worth buying.

You really get what you pay for with the Radio-Control Indoor/Outdoor Helicopter from the Discovery Channel Store. It’s a toy, but for adults. It takes a decent amount of practice and skill to get this to fly from room to room, Discovery Channel recommends it for people ages 18+.

Hand Steady

August 22nd, 2006 by Liam in Drinking Gadgets

Hand Steady
I really like this idea for a gadget as it could really help out a lot of people in such a cool and unique way. The Handy Steady gadget allows people with hand tremors to enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea or any other drink without fear of spilling it.

I’ve seen elderly people who have shaky hands trying to drink before and it doesn’t look very fun. This gadget provides a simple solution to the problem using gravity to solve the problem and steady the cup no matter how badly it is being shaken.
