Camoria Gets Your Life On Camera

June 25th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Digital Cameras

I think we all know that people just want their lives on the Internet, and they will gladly paste their photos and videos on their MySpace and FaceBook pages without any regards to the consequences.

This is why the Camoria has been developed. The Camoria is an over-the-ear digital camera that is designed to put your life in the form of pictures. Of course, there is no way that you can get your own face in the shots, unless you stand in front of mirror.

Right now, the Camoria is a concept device by German designer Akbiyik Vokan. Information that I got about the Camoria is very sketchy, so I don’t know how much memory it has, or how long the battery will last.

Luminous Glass makes your tabletops glow

June 25th, 2008 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets

I swear there is nothing that can’t have a bit of extra lighting thrown in somehow.  This Luminous Glass can be used as any type of tabletop you like.  Be it a desk, an island or even the dining room table.  Nothing says geeky headquarters quite like a glowing dining room table.  It would look especially cool to replace the glass on a glass top desk to give it extra geek appeal.  The table top is 3/4” thick and made of phosphorescent glass.  The darker your room the brighter the tabletop will glow.

Motion-Powered Chargers

June 25th, 2008 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Eco Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets

Every once in a while, I discover a new mobile device charger that is really practical and energy-efficient, like the Solio Magnesium Solar Charger. Today I found two devices that charge using another renewable energy source: kinetic energy.

The first is the Orange Dance Charge. This is an armband that you can connect your mobile device to, and then shake it up (preferably while dancing) for a charge. It has the same kinetic energy charger that you see in those “never need winding” watches. So if your cellular phone needs a charge, just dance around like Martin Short back when he was playing Ed Grimley on Saturday Night Live.

The second is a charger that sounds like a cheap joke, but it is real proposal. Apparently, a woman named Adrienne So has proposed a way to harness the power of breasts. That’s right, with a little nanowire fabric in a bra, you can actually capture the energy produced by the up and down movement of the (insert any synonym for “breasts” here). I’m going to justly resist any comment that I could make after introducing a gadget like this.

Set of Recycled LP Record Coasters

June 25th, 2008 by Ally in Eco Gadgets, Retro Gadgets

If you have a thing for vintage technology, these coasters are a great way to show your love for old LP records.  Granted you could just pick up your own favorite records from the local thrift shop, that is if you don’t have your own already.  However, having a cold drink, dripping with condensation will end up damaging the label on the top.  These particular records have been laminated on both sides to prevent that from happening.  Now if you happen to find a way to do the laminating yourself, it’d definitely be more fun to just pick out your own LP records.

DIY Turn Signal Biking Jacket

June 25th, 2008 by Edwin in DIY Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

Taking a bicycle can be the healthy and green thing to do, but it can get pretty dangerous for the cyclist especially in the dark. The DIY Turn Signal Biking Jacket works by blinking the arrow in which the direction you want to turn. Of course, it works best against a dark background which could potentially lower your overall visibility when not using the turn signals. Ah well, I’ve always wondered by bicycle manufacturers did not bother to come up with turn signals for their rides. How much more expensive could it be, really?

Mitsubishi LaserVue ready to rock and roll

June 25th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets

Mitsubishi’s upcoming line of LaserVue TVs are ready for a Q3 release, which means anytime in the next three months to make for the perfect summer. First unveiled at CES this year, consumers will be able to choose from either 65″ or 73″ models, with the former arriving first before the latter makes an official appearance. Very little about the technology has been released by Mitsubishi, other than the fact that it uses lasers, but it is interesting to note a 200% increase in color gamut compared to traditional HDTVs. Not only that, Mitsubishi claims that the black you see here is real black, while the brights are more than up to the task for an almost lifelike experience. Best of all, it will help couch potatoes save money each month since the LaserVue sips less than 200 watts of power, which is approximately half that of LCD and 33% of plasma.

Wheelchair boasts a jukebox

June 25th, 2008 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, DIY Gadgets

Most wheelchairs get along just fine with four wheels and an occupant, but this one is radically different. Crutchfield has a new grand prize winner for its “You Dream It, We’ll Help You Built It” contest, and the award goes to Eric Jarnagin and his souped up wheelchair - definitely one of its kind in the whole wide world. You get a subtle green glow around the wheels which translate into a mobile lightshow that grooves to the beat emanating from a formidable speaker set up which consists of an amplifier, speakers and subwoofers. The main music storage device of choice? A 160GB iPod. Now is this ever a wonderful street attraction or what.

Ascom Wireless releases new i75 Messenger

June 25th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets

Ascom Wireless Solutions has just increased their WiFi portfolio by unveiling a new handset known as the i75 Messenger. This could not come in a more timely manner as the use of WiFi is growing at an unprecedented rate, in part due to freeing us from the shackles of a wired environment, which is always a plus point in my book (provided the drawbacks aren’t too impractical to deal with, of course). What does the i75 offer on paper? Well, for starters, it “combines advanced messaging and highly versatile telephony as well as push to talk capabilities. Built to support Professional Messaging, this handset is uniquely quipped to communicate with a comprehensive range of external sources, including building management systems, hospital systems and production process systems.”
