Matchbook Media Player

April 8th, 2007 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets

epoq

Epoq have crafted a gorgeous little device: just a bit larger than a regular matchbook, the player sports a 2,4″ QVGA LCD, expandable memory (1 or 2 GB onboard and MiniSD card slot) and a processor fast enough to play unconverted AVIs at 25 frames per second.

It’s great how Epoq have managed to squeeze a better feature set than the run-of-the-mill MP3/MP4 players out there in a package that’s only 6,66×50x11 mm small. Believe it or not, it even has an integrated speaker!

More Transparent Speakers

April 8th, 2007 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets

Harman Kardon Soundsticks IIOne of the earliest gadget posts I did here was about the Ferguson Hill transparent speakers, which were exceedingly cool but also ridiculously expensive. This next lot of transparent speakers have a similar cool factor with out the second mortgage sort of price tag.

The Harman Kardon Soundsticks II provide a 40 Watt 2.1 sound solution for your PC in a very stylish manner. Unfortunately when reading a review of these in the Sunday Times it’s reported that the sound quality doesn’t live up to their looks. So I’ll need to continue saving the $26,500 for the Ferguson Hills.

If looks matter more than sounds and you’ve got a spare $200 you can get the at least cool looking Soundsticks from Komplett.

Incipio Cases Will Protect your iPhone, Even if it’s a Just a Paper Mock-up

April 7th, 2007 by Nick in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Mobile Phones

Incipio Zipper Case

Incipio believes in the iPhone so much, they are releasing a line of iPhone cases two months before the actual launch date of Apple’s new toy. One of the products is the Zipper Case, which includes an “old school” notebook with pen that you can start using now while your iPhone is not yet in your hands, according to Incipio. Yeah, right. They don’t seem to think much about the screen’s resistance to scratches however, as they say in their website “Zipper closure protects your Fragile Phone while not in use”.

Blu-ray recordable drive for Macs

April 7th, 2007 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, iPod gadgets

fastmac-superdrive.jpgIf you’re a proud owner of Apple’s PowerBook, iBook, and MacBook Pro computers, what better way to give it a performance boost than upgrading it with a brand new slimline, slot loading Blu-ray drive? This upgrade solution is provided by Fastmac’s new Blu-ray optical drive upgrade, offering users with up to 50GB of storage space – more than enough for the average home user when it comes to making backup of important data. To put things into perspective, what can 50GB hold? That amount of space will be enough to store up to 60 days’ worth of music four hours of High Definition quality video, approximately 50,000 JPEG photos and tens of thousands of RAW images.

The Retractable Wii Strap

April 7th, 2007 by Mike in Gaming Gadgets

Retractable Wii Strap
Being the owner of a plasma TV, I can’t deny that I’d be a little hesitant to start swinging around my Wiimote. Now, I don’t even own a Wii, but I have played with one and I can see how it could go flying. I mean, have you seen me serve in tennis? I’m amazing; there would definitely be some damage if my serve went a little overboard. If I ever got a Wii (har har), I’d have to check out the retractable Wii wristband. It just might save my TV.

Standing power to women

April 7th, 2007 by Edwin in Wacky Gadgets

p-mate.jpg

I’m not too sure why would anyone want to reinvent the wheel, but the P-mate device targets the fairer sex who prefer to ease themselves while standing upright, pretty much the same way men do. How does the P-mate work exactly? For starters, the lady in question will have to unfold the P-mate while making sure the device keeps its shape without being squeezed too hard. I suppose that is pretty easy to do, unless one is too excited to be ‘one of the guys’. Once the hindmost triangle has formed a tray, all you need to do is place the extremely generous opening directly under the flow area between one’s legs, where the sides of the P-mate’s opening ought to surround the flow area completely.

$1 Million Dollar Apple Remote Control For Sale on Amazon

April 7th, 2007 by methodshop in Remote Control Toys, Tech News, iPod gadgets

Amazon.com is currently selling a $999,999.00 1/2 ounce plastic SiK rex remote control that works with the Apple MacBook Pro, iPod Universal Dock, Apple TV, Front Row, iPod Hi-Fi and is Front Row compatible.

No joke. A million dollar remote control. You can see the SiK rex Amazon page here.

Sound too expensive for a little piece of plastic? What if i told you that the remote can be stored in the ExpressCard/34 slot of your MacBook Pro…

Yeah, I’m not convinced it’s worth it. But if Bill Gates is reading this…. hurry dude, there is only one left in stock!

This is obviously a just a typo. So I took a screenshot of the million dollar SiK rex remote page and posted it here on flickr in case Amazon takes the page down.

If you are still interested in the SiK rex remote control but not the million dollar price tag, you can also purchase one used or from a 3rd party on Amazon.com for only $25.

Solid Analogue Watch

April 7th, 2007 by Al in Cool Clocks

Silan WatchThis is an interesting looking watch, it looks like a solid lump of metal complete with sculpted hands, yet still manages to keep near perfect time.

The watch works by rotating the discs in its face, so you have the solid disc in the middle rotating to show the hour and the disc on the outside displays the minutes.

As minimalistic designs go I really like this, though whether I like it to the tune of €415.95 (£281.37) remains to be seen. You can get the Silan 3 Issey Miyake watch (catchy!) from Questo Design.
