AT&T offers Pantech C630

by Edwin - on December 11, 2008

AT&T is currently offering its Pantech C630 cell phone that comes in a candybar format, featuring specifications that you normally won’t expect from a $39 handset (tethered to a 2-year contract, of course). Underneath the C630′s hood, you will be pleasantly surprised to find the following :-

  • 3G connectivitiy
  • aGPS and AT&T Navigator
  • Bluetooth support
  • microSD memory card slot
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • AT&T Video Share capabilities
  • AT&T Mobile Music

It is nice to see deviated number keys that glow white when depressed for a change, while the C630 is also made from a mixture of materials including a rubberized back-panel, making it much harder to slip. As for the mirrored screen, you might want to get a screen protector for that, while a small joystick pad offers an even cooler user experience.

GPS Homing Device

by Edwin - on December 11, 2008

Looking for a simple portable GPS locating device but have yet to settle on one that you like? Well, the GPS Homing Device from Hammacher here looks and sounds like the perfect solution if you’re the type who want it the easy way when it comes to locating your car after shopping or simply returning to the exact favorite spot on the beach.

Simply push a button to mark your current location and the device points the way back. Nearly the size of a drink coaster, the compact receiver fits easily on a keychain, in a pocket, or in a purse. Unlike typical GPS units that are highly complex, this one only has two buttons: one for power, another for setting your starting point and two other destinations. It uses an advanced GPS receiver chipset that provides a high degree of accuracy–within five yards–in urban canyons or heavily forested environments thanks to its superior Time To First Fix for locating and locking onto satellite signals. It counts down the distance (in yards, miles, meters, or kilometers) as you approach your starting point and its self-calibrating digital compass displays your heading in degrees and indicates direction with an easy-to-read arrow.

The GPS Homing Device is weather-resistant, making it perfect for outdoor use and is powered by a couple of AAA batteries which offer up to 20 hours of operation. The GPS Homing Device can be yours this holiday season for $79.95.

ProClip offers a new range of device holders

by Edwin - on December 11, 2008

ProClip USA, Inc. has just rolled out a bunch of new device holders that were specially designed to mount the G1 to your vehicle of choice, be it a car, truck or SUV, on its dashboard or console. These holders were designed and manufactured in Sweden by Brodit AB and have been custom made just for the G1, having it lie down comfortable and securely to vehicle specific ProClip dashboard mounts. The end result is simple – you get a much better view of the G1 as well as easier access the moment this two-part solution (Device Holder plus Vehicle Mount) is attached. You will then be able to turn the holder either vertically or horizontally in closed and open positions, respectively. ProClip holders also have the option of attaching it to other manufacturers’ vehicle mounts or any other flat surface.

The Laxman Cometh

by Mark R - on December 11, 2008

If you’re feeling stressed out, you might want to sit back and listen to music on your favorite brand of MP3 player. For those who need the visual stimulation in order to relax, I would like to recommend giving the Laxman a try.

The Laxman comes with a pair of goggles that can fill your eyes with kaleidoscopic light that helps you “shift into a more relaxed state of mind”. Apparently, this relaxation technique is still an all-natural process, because it achieves the same soothing effect that comes from watching “a flickering flame or the glittering surface of a lake”.

Sanwa’s new keyboard is both wireless and mouseless

by Mark R - on December 11, 2008

This next product is for all of those MacBook users who prefer not using a mouse, but enjoy the trackpad feature on their favorite Apple laptop. I’ve often ranted about how I can’t stand using a trackpad versus using a mouse, so I can’t say that Sanwa’s new Wireless keyboard is for me.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I don’t want to bad-mouth a perfectly decent product. What I am saying is that if I ever adapted to the touchpad, then I would fully appreciate the benefit of the Sanwa. This keyboard has a touchpad on the right, so you can completely abandon the mouse when it comes to your desktop.

This Sanwa keyboard also gives you the chance to lose another wire: the one on the keyboard. Yes, it is completely wireless, using a 2.4GHz spectrum, which could be a problem when it comes to using it with a wireless network.

Apple triBook Concept Laptop

by Mark R - on December 11, 2008

It appears that our friends from Apple have leaked some drool-worthy information on the net with their latest concept, the triBook.

Yes, I am also quite impressed at a screen that can fold out into three. These side screens are perfectly sandwiched in between the main display and the keyboard. Every time a user wants to use the triBook, he or she will unfold it like opening a cardboard box. A user also has the option of combining all three screens for a landscape display of about 21 inches.

iGala – Wi-Fi Touch Screen Digital Photo Frame

by Al - on December 11, 2008

I reckon this is the coolest digital picture frame I’ve seen. It has all the usual things you’d expect from a digital frame, clock and alarm function, accepts multiple media card formats, MP3 player, etc. etc..

It is also Wi-Fi enabled so can pull pictures from GMail, Flicker or you can email them directly to the frame. You can use Windows Live to display News, Weather and traffic info and something that I’ve not seen on a digital frame before is it’s touch screen so setting up and entering your wireless information should be a lot less fiddly (though you may see the odd thumbprint on your pics).

You can buy the iGala Wi-Fi Linux Based Photo Frame from Think Geek for $239.99.
