by Edwin - on December 16, 2008

Sprint recently rolled out its BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone that is touted to be one of the most high tech push-to-talk BlackBerry smartphone ever, so we’ll have to take that claim at face value until it goes through our hands for a review. This smartphone will be powered by iDEN technology over the Nextel National Network, where users will be able to take advantage of Nextel Direct Connect, the only national push-to-talk service in the industry that offers sub-second call set up. Let’s take a look at what the BlackBerry Curve 8350i has to offer right after the jump.

Smoking Everywhere for a healthier you

by Edwin - on December 16, 2008

You know the feeling as the year draws to a close and you enter into another pensive mood swing, thinking of all the broken New Year resolutions. Girding yourself, you figure out since New Year’s just a couple more weeks or so away, why not roll forward those resolutions? Apart from trying to kick the habit of the bottle, another major habit that people want to rid themselves of would be smoking. There are plenty of anti-smoking aids in the market to help those who find it difficult to take the cold turkey route, but not all of them are effective. Just like how different strokes work for different folks, so the same applies to equipment that help you quit smoking. Electronic cigarettes are part of the regime, and we’ll take a look at what Smoking Everywhere has to offer right after the jump.

The Eyes have it on the Digital Window

by Mark R - on December 15, 2008

Sure, you could set up a security camera that has weak resolution and a static viewpoint, or you could set up the Digital Window from Scallop Imaging.

The Digital Window uses five ordinary cellular phone cameras for a 180-degree panoramic view. Special software allows the device to graft the pictures together, so the footage is contained on one wide screen instead of five individual camera shots.

You got to hand it for Scallop Imaging for creating a camera with multiple eyes, and they took their technology one step further when it comes to video quality. The Digital Window can shoot at seven megapixels at 15 frames per second, which will give a lot more distinction to motion shots that would normally end up as a blur on most security video cameras.

The Vibrating Alarm Clock Pillow

by Ally - on December 15, 2008

No one finds the sound of an alarm to be a pleasant thing.  In some cases it going off can make mornings go very badly.  Either because it will wake up a baby that you just got to sleep soundly or a significant other who doesn’t need to be up for several hours.  If you’re just looking for something that doesn’t sound so obnoxious you can always program an alarm clock to play music instead.  However, that still doesn’t solve the issue of waking up others.  Well this pillow aims to solve that problem.

Chairs of the Future

by Mark R - on December 15, 2008

This morning, I found two “chairs of the future” that I couldn’t resist covering.

The first is a concept called the “Organic Workstation”. Designer Stevie Miles Brewu set out to create the ultimate ergonomic and interactive station for work and play with a framework that resembles a dentist’s chair. The Organic Workstation is fully adjustable, and allows users to select an angle for their seating, keyboard, and foot rest.

The second is the Sonic Care Touch, with a spherical cushion design that acts as a speaker. That’s right, if you want to watch a movie on the included touchscreen iMac, you will feel the sound rise up from beneath you. Talk about surround sound!

Can the Gyroscopic Golf Club improve your game?

by Mark R - on December 15, 2008

I might not be the best reviewer for this next product, because I am neither a golfer nor a physicist. Be that as it may, I humbly present the Gyro Swing, a golf club that uses principles of physics to improve your game.

As you can see in the photo, the golf club has a tiny wheel inside of it. I’m not really certain what powers it, but this wheel can spin at a dizzying speed of 20,000 rpm. The spinning motion allows the user to “feel” the correct shot.

How can this work? Some of you might remember a little experiment that you did in a high school or college physics lab where you spun a bicycle wheel, and then you could miraculously balance the axle end on the side of a desk, as long as the wheel was spinning.

In short, spinning a wheel within a golf club removes any shaky movements that the golfer can unintentionally put on it. The result is a smoother swing that will strike the ball at a correct angle.

The Authentic Boardwalk Photo Booth

by Ally - on December 15, 2008

If you have an obsession for the photo booths in amusement parks and malls, then you’ll love this one.  Now you can have a photo booth all to yourself, at an extremely high price of course.  I’d think a camera would work out just fine, but cameras don’t spit out pictures in strips of four immediately after.  Well except for a Polaroid, but very few people have one of those anymore and even with that you only get one at a time.  Granted you could wait a few minutes and just print something from your computer.

The iDesign SongView lets you know what’s playing

by Ally - on December 15, 2008

If you’re the type who isn’t so great with band names, this iDesign SongView will help keep you posted.  It has a giant rotating message that says the song name, artist, album as well as the genre.  You’ll never have to run up to your iPod again to figure out who on earth plays that song.  Yes, it’s on your list of songs, so maybe you should know it.  However, you can have so much music on your iPod that it’s understandable that you’d forget every so often.
