Cowon S9 ready to ship in the US

While many of you might think that the iPod touch has one of the best designs for a portable media player ever, you might want to change your mind upon knowing that Cowon will be shipping its new S9 portable media player in the US. Just take a look at the beauty above and don’t tell me that you have anything bad to say about it – at least it departs from the traditional rectangular form factor that we’re all so used to. The Cowon S9 will come with a titanium/black face and a curved-back exterior, featuring a 3.3″ Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) touch screen display for easy navigation. In addition, you get transcoding-free playback of most DVD-quality MPEG-4 videos and TV output, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, a G-sensor accelerometer for auto-pivot display and extended battery life that offers a whopping 11 hours for continuous video and 55 hours for non-stop audio. You can pick up the Cowon S9 in 8GB or 16GB capacities, retailing for $199.99 and $239.99, respectively.
CaseCruzer Military Footlocker Pelican Case
We salute our men and women on the battlefield as they more often than not have to live in some pretty harsh conditions, and so adding a little touch of home might seem to be too impossible a request to fulfil. CaseCruzer thinks otherwise though, which is why it has come up with the Military Footlocker Pelican Case that not only offers mobile protection to its contents within, this durable luggage solution will also help one feel organized no matter how difficult and dire the current mission may be. While this is not a nuclear-proof product, at least it is tough enough to keep all your favorite memories (photos, letters, journals, etc) safe and sound compared to a regular locker.

Sierra Wireless offers two new AirCard ExpressCard modems

It is safe to assume that most notebooks these days come with an ExpressCard slot, but how many of us actually make full use of it? Casual users certainly don’t – that’s one of the reasons why netbooks don’t come with such a slot. Sierra Wireless has unveiled a couple of ExpressCard modems for mobile professionals in the form of the AirCard 501 and AirCard 502. Is it me, or do these seem to be numbered after a famous brand of jeans? Let us take a deeper look at both cards right after the jump, and see if they’re suitable for your use where you can then sign up for either to remain all the more mobile in your work.

Jamo A 804 Speaker is ultra thin
The Jamo A 804 Speaker is based on a simple principle of space-saving. Since most people are buying television sets that are getting thinner and thinner, it is no surprise that there would be a demand for speakers that are just as skinny.
The A804 Speakers are a mere 3.9 inches thick, and are housed in a black leather/high gloss enclosure. As for what is inside these speakers, they have a .75 silk-dome tweeter with Jamo’s unique WaveGuide technology for clear highs, and “the 4.5-inch midrange and two 4.5-inch woofers provide stirring midrange and deep, booming bass”.
These thin speakers are quite versatile, as they can be mounted both horizontally and vertically. They can work as left, right, center channel, or even a rear surround speaker.

Orbita could change mice as we know it
I always like it when someone tries to change the tradition of the computer mouse, and the Orbita Mouse by the Cyber E Sport company is one of the most interesting attempts that I have seen in a while.
The Orbita has a dial control that works as both a vertical and horizontal scroller. What makes it different from other scrolling mice is that scrolling is smooth, not jerky. Why is it that pages scroll up and down one jerk at a time, anyway?
You might notice an absence of left and right click buttons, but Orbita has them in a non-traditional form. The left click is that big button there, but the right click is executed by squeezing the mouse at any place and angle.

Philips’ New Product Line for 2009
In case you haven’t heard, Philips will not have a booth at CES 2009. However, they did unveil some of their newest products at a recent press event in New York.
This release includes three different MP3 Players. All of them are small, support MP3 and WMA, and have FM radios with 20 programmable presets. The Raga has a colorful faceplate that can be switched out to accessorize with whatever color wardrobe you are wearing that day. Raga is very similar to the Spark, as it has an OLED screen. The LUXE lacks an OLED screen, but has a jewel and mirror finish with LCD.
The company also launched two new products from their Streamium line. The Streamium allows wireless streaming of digital audio, providing access to Rhapsody and Internet radio even if the computer is not on. The NP2500 and the NP2900 are a step up from the NP1100, their first Streamium, as they both have color screens. The major difference between the two new models is that the NP2900 has stereo speakers.

The inexpensive Wild Planet Mobile Spy Ear

There have been cars that give you the ability to spy on a room before, but this one is far more affordable than the other ones I’ve seen. It probably won’t be as great of quality as the ones you’re pay around $100 for. However, it also means that you can be a spy no matter what your price range. Hopefully the engine is quiet though. Nothing’s more embarrassing than getting caught spying with your toy car.

R/C Christmas Lights and a Chance to Help Win $1,000 for Charity
Twice a year my friend Alek does his bit for charity (and his Electric supplier) by creating absolutely awesome and totally OTT Internet controlled Halloween and Christmas displays. This year is no different and you can view (and control) his 20,000 or so Christmas lights via the komar.org site (be warned it’s musical).
He has also been nominated as a semi-finalist in the Kentucky Fried Chicken nationwide Holiday Traditions Contest, where the winner will receive $1,000 and a year’s supply finger-lickin’ good KFC chicken. Alek being the cool dude that he is has agreed if he wins to donate the $1,000 to the charity for Celiac Disease (his annual decorations have already raised over $30K for the good cause).
So I’d like to ask all our readers to spare a few seconds and drop by the KFC site and cast your vote (Alek is #16), thank you.
