Green House Kana Micro MP3 Players

by Mark R - on January 20, 2009

With a name like Green House, you would think it would be a company that would make eco-friendly products. I’m not certain how environmentally sound these new Kana Micro MP3 players are, but they certainly won’t contribute to overpopulation.

That’s right, these Kana Micro MP3 Players take up very little space. You could probably stack a few of these Kanas to create something equal in size of an ordinary MP3 Player. In fact, they are so small, you probably thought the photo to the left was of thumb drives, didn’t you?

Well, the Kana is definitely designed to plug into the USB port, which is how it is recharged. On a full charge, a Kana MP3 Player is capable of up to two hours of playing time.

The North Face’s Etip Gloves

by Ally - on January 20, 2009

The North Face is a name that has always been associated with winter clothing for those that enjoy being out in the cold.  It’s never really been for those that may hate the cold, but still want to look pretty in it.  It’s more for the sporty outdoorsy type, not those like me that like to hide where it’s warm (I don’t do winter).  No these gloves aren’t exactly pretty, but they are touch screen friendly and they’ll keep you plenty warm.

Nikkai In-Car Journey Recorder for taping the Road Ahead

by Mark R - on January 20, 2009

When I was on the road to Vegas for CES, I wished I had some sort of video recorder so I could just speak my mind and write about it later. It would have definitely saved me some time and would have made the trip a lot less boring. On a somewhat related note, Nikkai has created the In Car Journey Recorder, which is the inverse of my idea.

Yes, the In-Car Journey Recorder is designed to affix to the windshield to record the road ahead, not the driver. It uses a 1.3M CMOS image sensor, which can record video footage for your insurance or lawyer in case of an accident. Now you have proof that it really wasn’t your fault in a collision case, when it’s your word against someone else.

The In-Car Journey Recorder records to an SD card for up to 2GB capacity, which is good for up to 18 hours worth of video footage. It can capture intervals between 2-3 seconds and 3 minutes.

The i-Turtle speaker plays and dances with music

by Ally - on January 20, 2009

If you have a thing for cute speakers, the i-Turtle is definitely that.  Especially since it’s a quirky little turtle that manages to have that classic white that is always associated with Apple products.  The i-Turtle can not only play your music, but he can groove along with it as well.  This music loving turtle even comes with a little light show on occasion.  Which does take away from the chic white a bit.  Hopefully if you wanted to, you could turn that function off.

Albatron 21.5 Multi-touch Display available in March

by Mark R - on January 20, 2009

When Windows 7 was announced several months ago, it was stated that it would support multi-touch displays. Even though Windows 7 beta is available, I was surprised that I didn’t see many multi-touch displays at CES, except from HP.

A company known as Albatron has been working on a multi-touch display for quite some time, and has recently announced that they finally have a 21.5 inch display that is consumer-ready.

There is quite a buzz about this MTD (multi-touch display) on many other tech blogs, but very little is known about it. We do know that there are sensors embedded in the bezel instead of the surface, which will create a brighter image as well as superior durability.

The retro QTV Digital Photo Frame

by Ally - on January 20, 2009

Digital picture frames have started to become just popular enough, that better styles are coming out.  I was definitely happy when they started selling them with frames that at least appeared to be wood.  The shiny black plastic never really blended well with my living room.  Well now Brando has created a slightly more quirky version of their own.  The frame comes in the form of a retro style TV and does more than just show off your favorite family photos.

Panasonic releases couple more Lumix digital cameras

by Edwin - on January 20, 2009

Panasonic is no stranger to the world of digital cameras, and their Lumix line of point-and-shoot devices have made a pretty strong name for itself, at least where casual photographers are concerned. The trend continues with the Japanese consumer electronics giant expanding their Lumix line of digital cameras with two more models, and this time the DMC-FS7 and DMC-FS15 will fall under the Lumix FS Series. The FS models are actually a sister line of the highly acclaimed Lumix FX Series, and merge a potent combination of slim and sleek looks with advanced features and controls that will cater to both both beginner and advanced users, allowing either one to snap pixel perfect images.

Zagg Z.buds review (external)

by Edwin - on January 20, 2009

GizMike from Gizmo-Central has managed to snag his hands on a pair of Zagg Z.buds audio earbuds and took it for a spin recently. Just to jog your memory in case you have heard of this familiar gizmo, we covered it last November, although the comments left in our post did not seem too favorable as users have complained about the plastic buds splitting in half, hopefully it is a one-off thing and a manufacturing issue that Zagg has managed to solve by now. GizMike uses his Z.buds mainly with the iPhone 3G for music, while phone calls come by as a “bonus”. Some claim the earbuds to be made out of cheap plastic, but GizMike says they feature pretty solid metal bodies, so perhaps Zagg has made positive changes to the initial run.
