Thanko’s USB Powered Lunchbox

by Mark R - on January 21, 2009

On the night before I went to Vegas for CES, I ate some Chinese food. Of course, it is impossible to eat Chinese food without having leftovers, and so I took a paper bag full of leftovers so I could reheat them later. I figured that there would be a microwave in the hotel waiting room or in my room.

However, that didn’t appear to be the case, and so I had to throw away a perfectly good dinner or lunch because I simply didn’t have the means to heat it up. It’s like the old cartoon where the guy is stranded on a deserted island and finds a crate of canned food, but doesn’t have a can opener.

Now, if I had the USB powered lunchbox from Thanko, all I would need to do is plug it into my laptop, insert the food, and subject it to 140 degree temperatures. No food goes to waste, and I wouldn’t have to shell out more money at an over-priced Las Vegas restaurant.

Inbi-Out lets you choose your trips with the flip of a coin

by Mark R - on January 21, 2009

Every once in a while, some new concept device will come out that is so out there, it requires several technologies that we don’t really have in order to work. Case in point, the Inbi-Out, a GPS Coin.

Designed by Ju-Wei Chen, this is essentially a device the size and shape of a silver dollar, with a GPS display on each side. Why would someone want this? Let’s say you’re trying to decide where to take a family vacation: Disneyland or Yellowstone. Or you can’t figure out what restaurant to eat at, but you narrowed it down to two choices. Somehow you load the destinations into the Inbi-Out with an Inbi-Out coin reader, and then give it a flip.

The Tunelight MP3 Speaker System

by Ally - on January 21, 2009

Here’s one way to make sure that your desk stays organized.  The main essentials of a desk are typically a task light and an organizer for all the random stuff that you need on the desk.  Well this does both, as well as have a dock and speakers so that you can listen to your music.  If for some reason you can’t play your iPod on your computer, this would make for a handy solution.  Then you could relax listening to your favorite music and hopefully get a little work/schoolwork done.

Razer Mamba gaming mouse

by Edwin - on January 21, 2009

Gamers take their hardware very seriously, so it is no surprise to see a company like Razer thriving on gaming peripherals alone. The recent CES saw Razer release new products, and we’ll take a closer look at the Razer Mamba gaming mouse today.

Razer has unleashed the full potential of gaming mice by designing an ergonomic, lag free gaming mouse with 2.4GHz gaming grade wireless technology, making it the fastest mouse both on and off the cord. With dual mode wired/wireless functionality, the Razer Mamba lets users immediately and seamlessly switch from wired to wireless play. With first in class polling rates at 1ms as compared to traditional wireless mice that poll at 8ms, players will have virtually lag free game play. The Razer Mamba also includes a host of features like Razer Synapse on-board memory that lets gamers store and bring their mouse settings wherever they go. And the world’s fastest 5600DPI Razer Precision 3.5G Laser sensor, the Razer Mamba wireless gaming mouse lets gamers move with lightning speed and precision to easily escape from becoming prey.

How soon will you be able to get your hands on this lethal weapon? Well, it will be put up for sale on Razerzone.com this February, followed by a worldwide release sometime in the first quarter. It will retail for $129.99 in the US, while our friends living in Europe will have to fork out the same amount in the Euro denomination which kinda sucks considering how we’re losing out on the exchange rate.

by Edwin - on January 21, 2009

Victor Company of Japan Ltd., better known as JVC, has recently introduced two new models of High Definition camcorders – the GZ-HD320 and the GZ-HD300, further expanding its Everio HDD camcorder series. Thanks to the advancement in miniaturization and electronics, both camcorders now sport a lighter and more compact body without sacrificing on performance. These new camcorders are pocket friendly (unless you have really, really small pockets, that is), measuring 53mm x 68mm x 113mm and tipping the scales at 325g. Their size is in fact similar to that of the GZ-MG330, also from JVC, despite it being a mere Standard Definition camcorder unlike these two that support High Definition recording.
