Cats are pets that appeal only to a certain group of people, and hence they’re constantly in a love-hate relationship with us humans. Feline lovers know just how clean and picky their cats can be, as cats clean themselves constantly by licking their fur often. Unfortunately, while they’re extremely neat when it comes to concealing their poop in a litter box, it doesn’t help that the smell of turd can still waft out and cause distress to residents in the same house. This is where the Cat Genie Cat Box comes in – this litter system is smart enough to wash, sanitize, and dry the box automatically without having you to lift even a single finger, as long as it remains connected to the water line in the bathroom or laundry room and an AC outlet.
Cat Genie Cat Box frees you from some responsibility
May 4th, 2007 by Edwin in Home Gadgets, Pet GadgetsMove over PS3, PS4 is coming your way
May 4th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Gaming Gadgets
We all know that the Sony PS3 has just been released for less than a year to date, but plenty has already been written about this next gen (now current gen) console, ranging from the amazing value it packs thanks to the Blu-ray drive and technology inside to the exorbitant cost of a black and hot paperweight that pushes new technology to consumers whether they want them or not. What most of us are not prepared for would be any announcement of a new PlayStation console anytime soon, since that would be suicide for a company that is already experiencing enough troubles as it is on the gaming front.
Corn-Off-The-Cob with the Kernel Kutter
May 3rd, 2007 by Mike D in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets
Ever since I bought the Cherry Pitter , I made it my personal mission to try to find other kitchen gadgets that accomplish the same goal: isolating the delicious from the waste. For too long our hands have been soiled by the food we eat – we struggle with those horrible pits, seeds, cores, bones, and crust in an effort to dine. Well, the genius that devised the Pineapple Prince and the Bread Bouler also has an item that was so fantastic, they named their company after it. Yes, the Kernel Kutter is here and gone are those days of sticky, buttery, burnt fingers (possibly rendering those mini plastic, cob-shaped darts (holders) for the ends of the cob obsolete).
Fancy a HDTV in the shower? Look at this!
May 3rd, 2007 by Andi in Electronic Gadgets, Home Gadgets
There’s a wide range of shower/bath radios or mp3-players, and some of them are quite cool, too. The people at Envirovision think further though: they have created a waterproof 19” HD ready TV. Useful if you can comfortably watch it when sitting on the toiled or soaking in the tub. But in the shower? I’m having a hard time trying to imagine how you’d watch TV in the shower, really.

Creative Throws a Stone at the iPod Shuffle

Creative Throws a Stone at the iPod Shuffle
Creative has set its sites square on the flash driven MP3 market with the Zen Stone – a 1 GB MP3 player for $40 that comes in six different colors: black, white, red, blue, pink and green.
Using the 1GB capacity as a starting point, the Stone will be able to play up to 250 songs in either a random “shuffling” or by blindly navigating from from folder to folder to concentrate on one artist or playlist specifically.
The Stone offers 10 hours of playback on a full charge, uses a basic USB connection, and supports MP3, WMA and WAV files. It will also play books by Audible.
With a price point so low, it does make sense to have a backup mp3 player when you don’t want to carry a higher capacity one like the ZenVision 30 GB model. And it’s so small, it can fit in your pocket.
Down the road, accessories like the Creative TravelSound™ ZEN Stone, player will come on line which will act as a docking player for the Stone. It’ll be a portable speaker system (think tiny boombox) which will give twice the playing time on two AAA alkaline batteries. It’ll list for US$39.99 which means you can have the complete system for less than an iPod Shuffle.
That’s Zen.
A new way to PCR, helping to sequence DNA cheaper and faster
May 3rd, 2007 by Fred in Conceptual Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Tech News
Polymerase Chain Reaction,, the bane of many a scientist’s life.
Heat, cool, heat a bit again, repeat ad-nauseum until your many samples are completed.
It’s the process by which DNA (genetic material copies are made to later sequence).
Victor Ugaz and his team at Texas A&M (Gig em Aggies!) Have developed a PCR machine that at production could cost as little as 10$ (US) to make. Oh yeah, and they only need 2AA batteries to operate!
This is huge news, as PCR machines, are, well, ridiculously expensive. Read the rest of this entry »
Nokia goes slim: the 2630
May 3rd, 2007 by Andi in Mobile PhonesWe all know Nokia phones are usually pretty conservative in design, with solid features and constant interface design. They’ve only had a few outlandish designs, mostly concerning keyboards, but now they’re heading down the new (and mainstream) route.
