Dawn of the RoboLawn

May 5th, 2007 by James in Garden Gadgets, Home Automation, Home Gadgets, Robot Gadgets

LawnBotWhen I visited Epcot Center at Disney World for my honeymoon in 1994, one of memorable products I saw showcased was a prototype robotic lawnmower. Well, in 2007 K.A. Home Robotics has introduced the LawnBot for those of us who don’t live in the “experimental prototype community of tomorrow.”

The LawnBot isn’t related to iRobot’s successful and innovative Roomba, but it does share similar features. Working autonomously by means of its preprogrammed computer and a perimeter cable, the LawnBot can mow up to three separate sectors totaling 33,000 square feet and then return itself to its recharging dock.

Freshly baked USB flash drives

May 5th, 2007 by David in USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Freshly Baked USB

One day these guys who just sit around thinking up new ideas for USB flash drive covers will go just that little bit too far and push the boundaries of common decency to a new level. But before then we have a long way to go which is why they are still sticking to producing food related flash drives, some are good and some are not that brilliant, but the people at Valolo have created a selection of nice ones for you to try.

Guitar Hero II is awesome

May 4th, 2007 by Mike in Gaming Gadgets

Guitar Hero II
Personally, I’m not a big gamer at all. I rarely, if ever, play any games on my Mac (as if there were any, haha!) and will occasionally play for a few minutes on my DS or PSP. That being said, I am absolutely, positively addicted to Guitar Hero II on the PS2 (also on Xbox 360, but I don’t own it). If you’ve never heard of it, read on, as I’m going to tell you why it’s, well, awesome.

Finally I can justify a post about Formula 1!!!!!

May 4th, 2007 by Fred in Tech News, Vehicle Gadgets

Mclaren’s new nose (thanks f1-live.com!)Ahh yes, the smell of burning rubber, tank petrol, and carbon fibre disk brakes are in the air. After three rounds of the formula one cirus in Australia,Malaysia, and Bahrain, the first big round of changes for the cars are in the air, and there are some doozies!!

To begin, my favorite reds, Ferrari have just installed so many changes in their “B-spec” car, that people are actually calling it a whole new car (technically not true as the main chassis core is the same, but apparently everything bolted on is new). The “ahem” flexible underbody is gone, and now conforms to the new FIA specs. Additionally new bodywork, on top of a wholly revised cooling system has provided a shocking half second advantage per lap improvement over the previous version, (yeah, that’d be the version that has 3 pole positions and 2 wins already).

Also, double world champ Fernando Alonso and his rookie racer teammate (who is AMAZING) Lewis Hamilton over at McLaren will be rolling in the race in Spain with a crazy new front wing that goes over the nose of the car, (check the picture). It’ s pretty nutty, but they say they have better results with that system, which, of course will mean that you can look for them on other teams in the near future. Read the rest of this entry »
