Motion-Controlled MP3 Player

by Mark R - on January 29, 2009

This next particular gadget is only a concept for now, and I will let you be the judge of whether or not there is going to be a demand for it.

The Motion-controlled MP3 Player is everything that its title suggests, and you can see a demonstration of it in the YouTube video. As you watch, note that there are no buttons, dials, or controls of any kind on the shiny little box of an MP3 Player.

As soon as the user put in his memory card, one tip and tap was enough to play the first track. Then when he tip and tapped it in the other direction, it rewound it to the last track. Plopping it down face down is apparently enough to pause the player.

LeapFrog introduces BlackBerry for tots

by Mark R - on January 29, 2009

We’ve recently discussed Leap Frog’s new Tag Junior system, and the educational toy company isn’t stopping their new releases as they recently unveiled the “Baby Blackberry”. I use the quotes because this is not the toy’s official name, but its what other tech blogs are calling it. I think the only reason why Leap Frog hasn’t officially named this product is probably some trademark conflict from RIM.

As you can see, the Baby Blackberry is slightly larger than the actual Blackberry. That keyboard is a definite copy of the one that is on the popular PDA, but the little paw print doesn’t look anything like the mini-trackball.

The UV Razor Sanitizer kills germs

by Ally - on January 29, 2009

By now we’ve probably all seen the UV lights meant to sanitize objects, the most popular seems to be the small toothbrush sanitizers.  I doubt that it has occurred to a great deal of people that you might want to sanitize your razor as well.  Once you think about it, it does actually make sense to sanitize your razor.  After all, cuts happen on occasion to even the most careful person.  When that does happen, if your razor is germ infested it’s more likely that the cut will get infected.

Nokia announces trio of phones

by Edwin - on January 29, 2009

Nokia, the most successful cell phone manufacturer to date, is back with three more handsets for the masses. Sure, it won’t break the bank or look flashy to go along with your Ferrari (if you own one), but it will certainly make millions and millions of ordinary Joes on Main Street happy with the Nokia 6700 classic, the Nokia 6303 classic and the Nokia 2700 classic. All three devices go back to the basics, built on the similar premise that helped Nokia cement and consolidate its position as the world leader in cell phones. The new trio merges the functionality and user experience required in today’s hectic times, accompanied by premium designs and beautiful materials for a well built handset that won’t be priced out of the working man’s budget. Let’s look at the individual handsets right after the jump.

Hi-8 Camera Gun

by Edwin - on January 29, 2009

Check out this camera, or should we say gun? Heck, we might as well call it the Hi-8 camera gun which hails from the vintage Vietnam era. This device is up for sale, featuring a rifle stock back to show its roots, where word has it that it was developed specially for a military reporter. The rifle segment comes in handy when steadying your shots (film shooting, not shooting at enemies). Best not to bring this to the airport with you lest you get caught and have to dispose of your treasured possession. This is best left at home as an ornament, as it is guaranteed to be a conversation starter for first timers to your home.

Ovei offers luxurious environment in a pod

by Edwin - on January 29, 2009

If I were to travel in space, I sure as heck hope that I get one of these Ovei pods instead of being frozen in a cyrogenic chamber as Lt. Ripley was in the film Aliens. After all, feeling like a piece of meat in a fridge is no fun, and the Ovei pod from Oculas Group offers way more entertainment options. It won’t be for the ordinary Joe on the streets though, as the base of the Ovei starts from £50,000 upwards. Inside, you will find a 5.1 surround sound system, a 26″ LCD display, climate control and all that jazz to keep you comfortable throughout your journey, although with that amount of money, you can always spruce up your room with much more than what you’re getting from the Ovei. Of course, it won’t be that cool, but spending such an obscene amount of money in these economically tough times isn’t exactly the best idea in the world.

LeapFrog releases Tag Junior system

by Edwin - on January 29, 2009

LeapFrog’s brand name is strongly associated with the edutainment industry, and it comes as no surprise that their latest product is a toddler-sized “book explorer” known as the Tag Junior book pal. It will be out this summer, so kids can always get themselves prepped up for school during the summer holidays before they actually dive headlong into their books when school opens. The Tag Junior system was specially designed to cater for little hands and aims to help young ones build a lasting interest in and love for reading – something that is sorely missing among the youth today who would much rather want to be entertained passively by a game or movie without using their own brain to think. The Tag Junior system has its own nine-book library that will feature classic books, favorite characters as well as original titles that we’ll look at right after the jump.

T-Mobile rolls out Shadow phone

by Edwin - on January 29, 2009

No, T-Mobile has not gone ninja with the Shadow phone, but has released it in the open without the cover of stealth. This is a mid-range handset that will keep most average phone users happy, although power users who are too used to the vast amount of functionalities that their previous smartphone offered will give this a miss. The T-Mobile Shadow comes in a more rounded and compact design alongside a couple of new color options to keep the indecisive masses happy, and you will also benefit from T-Mobile Unlimited HotSpot Calling and increased processing power.
