Solar Powered iPod

May 13th, 2006 by Al in Solar Powered Gear, iPod gadgets

Solar iPod ChargerOne of the great things about the iPod is you can carry it anywhere. One of the not so great things is that when the batteries run out you can’t charge it up anywhere (finding a power socket in a field in Glastonbury just ain’t going to happen). The answer may be at had with the Solio Charger.

The Solio looks like a solar powered popellor but it is in fact a solar powered charger for your iPod, so provided there is a bit of sun you can charge your iPod outside and be environmentally friendly at the same time.

You can get the Solio Charger from Firebox for just shy of 50 pounds (though was on pre-order last time we looked).

Shocking Pass the Parcel Game

May 12th, 2006 by Al in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Shocking Ball
What do you get if you cross the age old children’s game pass the parcel with a sadistic electric shock machine, your very own shock ball.

Next time you and your mates are arguing about who’s turn it is, instead of resorting to coin tossing or chanting eeny-meeny-miney-mo, pull out you shock ball. Throw it between you and who ever is holding it when it delivers its non lethal shock is the loser that has to buy the first round.

You can get the shock ball from Firebox (if you dare :))

Remote Control Floating Tray

May 12th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Remote Control Toys

Remote Control Drink TrayWe seem to feature quite a few swimming gadgets here on CG, so far we’ve reported on solar powered heaters, robotic pool cleaners, the floating pool bar and now we have the Remote control drink float.

With this remote control gadget you are able to play party host from dry land whilst your guests are frolicking in the pool. Load up the drinks tray with up to 5 drinks, and a plate of snacks, launch it in your pool and then using the remote sail the tray around to your thirsty guests. Now if only I could afford a pool.

Available from Things You Never Knew for just under $50.

Get Your Own Lock Picking Kit

May 11th, 2006 by Al in Spy Stuff

Locking Picking Kit

When I was a kid (some say I still am) I always wanted my own lock picking set like the ones you saw on TV, but I had to settle for Star Wars figures instead which were also really cool at the time (Boba Fet ruled). Well it seems Think Geek have *finally* answered my wish list by stocking an authentic lock picking kit.

The kit comes complete with 9 different picks (stainless steel), 1 broken key extractor (stainless steel), 4 tension tools and a Leather snapover case. There is no mention of an instruction manual so how you’re supposed to use this to pick locks is anybodies guess.

Available from Think Geek for $34.99.

Disclaimer: As tempting as it may be please only use on your own locks, unless you’re sure nobody is watching**

**Disclaimer: That was a joke (okay not a funny one but there we go)

Beer Fridge for the Living Room

May 11th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets

Due to the upcoming World Cup we seem to be inundate with beer related gadgets at the moment (no bad thing there). The latest alcohol related gadget to cross our path is a beer fridge for your living room.

My current beer fridge lives in the utility room and the big white mostrosity would look totally out of place anywhere else. The beer fridge (pictured) is designed to fit in to most modern looking rooms. So you can be watching the footie on your plasma and not need to leave the room (or send somebody else) when your can runs dry at the most inopportune time.

I found the beer fridge via Tech Digest, you are meant to be able to get them from here for £630 (ouch) though I couldn’t find it (doh).
