Soy Sauce Dispensing Chop Sticks

January 1st, 2006 by Al in Wacky Gadgets

Soy Sauce Chop Sticks
I’ve never really mastered chop sticks, and usually find myself resorting to a fork or fingers when I visit the local Chinese. However these chop sticks with built in soy sauce dispenser may make me try to be a bit more patient with these eating implements.

You’ve got to wonder how somebody comes up with an idea like this. I can imagine a couple of blokes enjoying a sushi when the following conversation occurred:

Bloke 1: Pass me the soy sauce mate
Bloke 2: Hold on I’ll have to put my chop sticks down while I reach over for it
Bloke 1: Cheers mate, wouldn’t it be good if we had a bottle of sauce each?
Bloke 2: Yeah that would be great, hey I know what would be better: Soy Sauce dispensing chop sticks
Bloke 1: Wow man, you should invent them and make a million

I wonder if that’s how it happened :)

Designer LCD TVs

December 30th, 2005 by Al in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Wooden Designer LCD TV
It didn’t seem that long ago when LCD TVs were the new expensive in thing but like most technological advancements it doesn’t take long for them to become common place. For LCD manufacturers to make their TV the one to own they need to compete via quality, features or price. However the company Hannspree is taking a different approach and is selling what I can only describe as novelty / designer LCD televisions.

Pooch Potty Picture
Can’t be bothered to take your loving best friend for a walk, or just too proud to be seen poop scooping in public, what you need is the pooch potty.

Cats have had the easy life for years thanks to that bowl of scented gravel, the litter tray. The pooch potty is a similar toiletry device for your pet dog.

Whereabouts Clock

December 20th, 2005 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

whereaboutsclock
Now every parent of a teenager will want this one invention in his or her home. The whereabouts clock will let you know where every member of your family is at all times. Great idea, uh?

If you have seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read any of the books then you must have heard about the Whereabouts Clock. Its inventor Abigail Sellen believes that it would serve its purpose better in the home environment but others also believe it would be great for executives. Then the boss would know where his or her employees are and at least have some kind of idea of what they were doing such as the real reason they had to miss work or were late for work.

As for me, I think it would also be great for home, you would know exactly what time to start dinner, if your children skipped school, or if your husband really had to work late.

The flimsy clock

December 19th, 2005 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

flismyclock
Out of Tokyo comes the news that a Japanese watchmaker has created the flimsiest clock in the world. This is not only the flimsiest digital clock to be created in the world but also the thinnest. It is as thin as camera film and can be bent to attach to the curve of a wall.

This cool gadget is only three millimeters or .12 inches thick and can be seen from sharp angles, on foggy and rainy days or in bright sunlight.

This is one of the best clocks designed for walls of buildings, round pillars that you see in train stations or at malls. This way anyone will just be able to glance up at this giant flexible clock and know what time it is.

Flying Alarm Clock

December 18th, 2005 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Flying Alarm Clock
I was a bit slow on the uptake reporting on this, however better late than never. Maybe just as annoying as the grenade alarm but hows this for a self inflicted annoying alarm clock, the Blowfly flying alarm clock.

The Blowfly works by waking you up with an annoying mosquitoish sound as it flies around the room and the only way to stop it is to get up and catch it. It sort of reminds me of Harry Potter and the golden snitch, though somehow I don’t think many people are going to be that dexterous after just being woken up.

From a practicality view point this may not be the best of ideas as there will be plenty of thinks for the Blowfly to bang into with potential to break it and it may be a one shot wonder if you sleep with your windows open, but from a novelty gadget point of view it’s still pretty cool.

Bumper Dumper

December 15th, 2005 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

bumperdumper
Okay, I found this cool gadget on a vacation website, but thought it would be appropriate for the holiday season as well. If you are doing any type of traveling to visit relatives this season and you have children you will more than likely hear “I gotta go”. This can happen anytime and anyplace if you have kids in the car. They are notorious for waiting until you get in the car to let you know they need to go to the bathroom. The Bumper Dumper is your safety net!

Now, when you hear those words all you have to do is pull over, preferably in a inconspicuous place where there are not any cars zooming by and just out and use the Bumper Dumper.

You do not have to worry about finding a bush, a tree or anything else to hide behind and worry about all those creepy crawling insects. Girls especially do not enjoy to the bathroom outdoors. This will help you from stopping a million times unless you cannot find a quiet out of the way place.

Gupi Interactive Guinea Pig

December 13th, 2005 by Anita in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

gupi
If you love those cute and cuddly little guinea pigs but you do not want to have to clean up after them then this cool high tech electronic guinea pig by the name of Gupi is for you.

You may think he is some toy for kids, but you would be so wrong. He has a mind all of his own. He will walk around your house without knocking anything off the tables, bumping into chairs or falling down the stairs. Gupi will give you plenty of interaction and has emotions just like a real guinea pig. Build your Gupi a maze out of cardboard and watch him find his way to freedom.

Since he is like a real pet, he does need attention. When you give him attention, he will become friendlier, when left alone he will learn to run and hide. He will also react to light, touch and noises. As long as you give him plenty of love and affection, he will be content and happy, but if you do not be, will become very lonely and hide away. He does react according to his mood.
