‘Trading Faces’ Digital Mirror Is Like A Real Life Face/Off

June 19th, 2008 by AndrewD in Conceptual Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Does anyone remember that movie with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta where technology has advanced so much that people are capable of having an entire body transplant, including their face? Pretty sweet flick now that I think about it. And while we haven’t quite reached the point of totally accurate face transplants, there is some digital technology that might allow us to do something similar, just for fun, completely virtually.

It’s called “Trading Faces” and the project actually revolves around the use of digital mirrors to superimpose other peoples faces on your own. Except for the fact that users have someone elses facial features, they look totally normal. But the progress of this sort of technology could possibly lead to some pretty suspicious motives.

CJ7 Dog Doll MP3 Player is a bit on the ugly side

June 19th, 2008 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Apparently this odd little MP3 player is modeled after a dog that appeared in Stephen Chow’s CJ7, which I had no idea was even in existence.  Maybe in my part of the world they didn’t deem it worthy of actually being presented in theaters.  However, someone decided it was worth a gadget being made after it.  I have to admit the movie trailer seemed decent and even a bit humorous.  Don’t worry, it was actually meant to be funny.  It wasn’t funny in the way that it would make its way onto MST3K, which I’m an addict for.

Introducing The Trons: An Autonomous Robot Band

June 18th, 2008 by AndrewD in Robot Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

First, The Beatles took on America, launching a British Invasion of music. Then Led Zeppelin took the hard rock world by storm. Should we be expecting another kind of invasion anytime soon? Perhaps a Robotic Invasion? Could robots eventually take the place of modern musicians, and do a better job of writing hit tracks? What could this mean for the future of the music industry?

Allow us to introduce to you, The Trons! A fully autonomous robotic band. Watch out U2! The Trons are a New Zealand based robot band which does a pretty good job rocking the house all on their own. The video above shows The Trons performing their rocker “Sister Robot”. The robot musicians are even designed to resemble humanoid figures.

“I am Cuckoo for Cocoa Touch” T-Shirt

June 17th, 2008 by AndrewD in Gadget Humor, Wacky Gadgets

When Apple announced Cocoa Touch, a special set of API’s for building iPhone and iPod Touch applications, at their special SDK event earlier this year, developers were instantly bitten by the iPhone dev bug. You could literally watch the drool run down their lips in anticipation of their chance to play around with the iPhone SDK (software development kit.)

The iPhone has the software development community all up in arms and foaming from the mouth. Enough so, that we’re confident that a healthy amount of these developers would love a t-shirt which can sum up their feelings in one foul swoop. Enter the “I am Cuckoo for Cocoa Touch” T-shirt available from Zazzle. The official uniform for displaying your Cocoa Touch fanaticism.

“The Birds” Barbie Doll: Hitchcock’s Work Now Complete

June 17th, 2008 by AndrewD in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” is widely regarded as one of the finest films ever to be witnessed on the big screen. Filled with almost unbearable suspense, the movie centers around a blond vixen who finds herself amidst a revolt of a murder of world-domineering birds. The bird’s start going batty, attacking children and damaging homes in tremendous numbers.

What could be a better way of honoring the film then portraying it through another piece of cultural treasure, the Barbie doll. “The Birds” Barbie Doll depicts our favorite girly toy being ambushed by a trio of blood-thirsty crows. Watch Barbie perform her best Melanie Daniels impression, sporting a lime green outfit, accessorized with a black leather hand bag.

USB Flash Drive Lighter features a dead cow

June 17th, 2008 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

If you are constantly carrying around a lighter due to your smoking habits as well as needing a USB drive all the time, you might check out this little gadget.  It throws them both into one little device.  There have been other lighter/flash drive combinations before but this one is just so much more classy.  I mean it doesn’t get much more chic than an animal skull.  The site selling it says so itself the embossed cow skull is indeed “awesome”.  I’m bubbling over with so much nausea excitement that I can hardly stand it.  Even better is that it’s available for wholesale, so you can buy one for all of your friends too.

Shocking Digital Camera Prank

June 16th, 2008 by AndrewD in Digital Cameras, Toys, Wacky Gadgets

We’ve only got 10 months to plan for our next April Fool’s Day pranks! That might seem like enough time, but you know those weeks are going to fly by. Before you know it, it’ll be the end of March and you’ll be left with only your words and creativity. It’s so much easier to just buy a prank, and much less brain consuming.

This awesomely mean Digital Camera Shocking Gag looks just like a modern day point-and-shoot, but is actually a concealed prank. Remember those handshake shockers from the vintage old days from decades passed? This is sort of like that, but with an extremely modernized twist and surely a stronger dose of electrical shock.

Welcome Mat Table: Make Yourself At Home

June 16th, 2008 by AndrewD in Conceptual Gadgets, Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

At a time where furniture design is more focused on form than function, there is always a cult of rebellious designers who say “Screw that!” regarding the typical standards of the design trends. While it’s not a typically pretty piece, Luis Eslava’s Welcome Table is a brash rebellion against the tables of Ikea and other decor fitting home surfaces.

Inspired from the hospitality of door step welcome mats, the Welcome Table invites your guest to make themselves at home, moving the floor mat to the table surface. Want to put your legs on the table? Don’t worry about being rude! This table is made for your rudeness!
