Electric Shocking Mouse

April 9th, 2009 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

I realize that I am a week late with April Fool’s Day, but I suppose any time is good for a practical joke. Especially one that involves electricity. Yes, it is easy to go overboard with electricity when you are doing a practical joke, like the Joker did in Tim Burton’s first Batman film.

Provided that you don’t want to kill your enemy, the Electric Shocking Mouse might be the best way to bring aggravation. Apparently, it will give a jolt that will not harm or hurt, but just enough of a shock to make everyone laugh.

Betamax to HD-DVD Converter

April 1st, 2009 by Edwin in Wacky Gadgets

If you want something really redundant or love living in the past with failures of other people surrounding you, then chances are you will find the Betamax to HD-DVD Converter to be your cup of tea. Seriously, is there any need to explain further?

Betamax and HD-DVD are like a match literally made in heaven (you know, that place you go when you die?), and now you can get a slice for yourself. Featuring simple one-touch record between either format, your media has never felt less obsolete.

of course, by the time you’re done reading, you’ll realize that a device such as this will be an epic fail – even more so than the two formats combined, so before you leave a comment about how outdated we are, here’s a very happy April Fool’s day!

Change messages with a Cell Sticky

March 23rd, 2009 by Ally in Conceptual Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Sometimes people don’t always say the things you’d like.  Tragically there isn’t really a perfect method that will brainwash your friends and significant other.  So you have to find other ways to make yourself feel important.  Of course, this method will only work for those with an iPhone.  If you do have an iPhone though, you can fool yourself and others that people have sent different messages than they actually sent you.

Fly-Goodbye Pistol lets you have target practice with flies

March 13th, 2009 by Ally in Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

I will be the first to admit that my hatred for bugs is a strong and unwavering one.  I’m aware that a lot of bugs are necessary for the environment, but I still like them best when they’re dead.  At least indoors, outdoors I don’t mind them as much.  However, the down side with killing them usually means I have to smash them onto some surface and then clean  up the mess.  A predicament that I despise almost as much as I do bugs.  Well soon you can pick up the Fly-Goodbye Pistol, which solves the bug and mess issues.

The Lunocet brings out the Michael Phelps (or the Flipper) in all of us

March 10th, 2009 by James in Sport, Wacky Gadgets

Remember the story a few months back about the dolphin that received a “bionic” tail? It was a great human interest story about how a dolphin had lost his tail to disease and veterinarians outfitted him with a prosthetic tail. Well, when I first saw the Lunocet, I wondered … don’t get the name. But then I realized that what it does could be ground breaking for swimmers, thereby giving them dolphin like speed.
Okay, not really, but you could go twice as fast as that Olympic Gold Medalist. The idea is really simple.

Stove Top design means you can cook anywhere … all you need is a tabletop

February 20th, 2009 by James in Home Gadgets, Kitchen Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Our friends over at Yanko have released an interesting design by Maurizio Maiorana for a fold up portable stop top mat which uses silver as a conductor. The “Cooka” incorporates silver because of it’s excellent thermal properties which allow for effective heating of pots and pans while keeping the tabletop nice and cool.

Star Trek Communicator to finally become phone for VoIP crowd?

February 5th, 2009 by James in Coolest Gadget of the Week, Mobile Phones, PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

A few years back, an upstart cell phone company announced the holy grail for geeks to great fanfare … a cellphone that looked like a Star Trek Communicator. Everyone signed up to get word of when this cool homage to sci-fi geekery would ship and it was destined to be a very popular product. I mean, who wouldn’t want to indulge in a little “beam me up Scotty” fantasy while making a call to work? But alas, it wasn’t to be as a few months later, the company announced they couldn’t make it work, nor would Paramount/Viacom play ball if they did. Ready for round two? Only this time, it’s a VoIP/Skype platform that has the eye of Captain Kirk’s favorite method communication. Will geeks finally get their due? Or is it just another interstellar carrot on a stick?

Couple-saving Gadget Automatically Lowers the Toilet Seat

February 4th, 2009 by Mark R in Wacky Gadgets

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I usually like to report on gadgets that will bring couples closer together. It is my pleasure to report on a cool gadget that will settle an age-old argument between husbands and wives world wide: leaving the toilet seat up.

Ironically, it wasn’t some big electronics giant who made this, but a group of students from Skjern Technical College in Denmark. Somehow it can end the endless comic routine without using additional energy, but my sources do not say how.
