I was browsing around Think Geek and came across this cool LED powered belt buckle. It consists of 147 LED lights that you can program to display scrolling messages. Whether you’d want to be seen in public wearing one is a different matter.

September 19th, 2005 by Anita in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

xufo
Do you believe in UFO’s? Well, all of your friends will after you control this awesome remote controlled flying saucer. Just hide behind the trees or bushes in your neighborhood and see how long it takes for the neighbors to call the police, the fire department and maybe even the president when they see a flying saucer hovering outside their windows.

This cool remote controlled flying saucer is made with lightweight carbon fiver and EPP foam. It can fly up to around 330 feet and can even fly indoors if you have a large enough home.

September 6th, 2005 by Al in Home Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Pillow Lite
The Philips R & D team have been busy of late and found a way of weaving LED lights into fabric material, which they are calling photonic textiles. The special material is as soft as conventional fabric and can be used as bedding or even worn.

They currently have prototype pillow cases that can display scrolling SMS messages and our working on higher resolution models that can play various animations.

Remote controlled golf ball
This is too cool! It’s one of those things that you always talked about and dismissed, but now someone’s actually gone and done it.

Yes, it’s a remote controlled golf ball :-) It’s almost enough to make me take the sport up…

‘Nuff said. Check it out at iwantoneofthose.com.

Sumo Costume

September 2nd, 2005 by diceman in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Sport, Wacky Gadgets

As a kid growing up in a small town in northern Canada, my aspirations of becoming a world ranked sumo champion seemed unattainable. However, thanks to the Inflatable Sumo Costume, my dream is closer than ever. Now I no longer have to stuff my face with Twinkies or walk around the house in my underwear to prepare for sumo domination. Photo of the segway

This unexpectedly comfortable nylon costume comes complete with built-in nappy and a sumo-hair hat for added authenticity. With 4 AA batteries, the included fan will inflate the costume in minutes, adding 20 sizes to your pants instantly.

If you’re looking for something with a bit more “shook” value, why not buy the sumo ballerina costume instead. This model comes fully equipped with an “authentic” ballerina dress. Read the rest of this entry »

Sticmatz

September 1st, 2005 by Marc in Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Sticmatz
Here’s something that deserves a mention. In the best tradition of gadgets it’s novel, cheap, was probably based on alien technology and actually serves a useful purpose!

The marvel that is modern chemical engineering has managed to produce the Sticmatz ; a not-quite-rubber mat that will hold anything placed on it securely, at just about any angle, without leaving any residue when the item is removed. Great for holding the sunglasses / phone / gps on the car dash.

You can find it at a variety of UK resellers and garage forecourts (apparently, although I’ve not seen one yet) for about 6 pounds.
