Sun Dial Watch

November 19th, 2005 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Retro Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Stonehenge Sun Dial Watch
If an LED watch isn’t retro enough how about a sun dial.

Continuing in our tradition of reporting on the multitude of time keeping instruments (I’m desperately trying for the sake of variety not to call them clocks and watches (again)). We’ve just found a remake of probably the oldest time keeping device; the Sun Dial. These wonderful time pieces were very popular in historic times and could be seen in many a Roman or successful caveman’s abode.

Tiki Tissue Box Holder

November 18th, 2005 by Anita in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

tikitissue
This unique gadget is a great way to hand out tissues for those runny noses or during one of the girly movies when all women seem to cry. This Tike Tissue Box Holder will have everyone smiling no matter the reason they need a tissue.

Not only will it be used often but is also a great conversation piece. You can sit one up in every room in the house or at the office and have a tissue handy all the time.

This cool tissue box holder stands up so it is much easier to grab a tissue. All standard size tissue boxes will fit perfectly, so you can still use your favorite.

Soundproof Microphone!

November 14th, 2005 by Marc in Audio/Video Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Soundproof Microphone
I don’t know where you can find these - there has to be way of getting hold of the wackier Japanese gadgets in the west though. Come to think of it, if you’ve ever had to suffer a karaoke party this might not be so wacky!

From the always entertaining Odd things from Japan we present the sound absorbing microphone! It looks like a regular mic with a large cover for your mouth so you can yell into it to your hearts’ content without fear of your off-key warblings disturbing anyone else.

Could be useful, with alcohol fuelled Christmas parties just around the corner…

USB Mug Warmer (with 4 port hub)

November 11th, 2005 by Al in PC Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

The USB Warming Cup Holder
There seems to be no end to USB devices, you can now get a USB powered cup holder/warmer.

So you no longer need to be worried about your coffee mind fuel going cold whilst you’re slaving away at the keyboard. As you’d expect from any good cup holder it also incorporates a 4-port USB hub so if they ever bring out a USB toaster you could plug that in to the USB Cup warmer but it only supports USB 1.1 so don’t expect your coffee to warm too quickly :).

More LED Stuff to Wear

November 9th, 2005 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

LED Cap
After reading Marc’s post on his new LED flashlight I thought I’d have a look around and see what other LED bits I could find.

Thanks to the Red Ferret Journal I found the trend setting (not) LED Cap available at Alibaba who also stock the LED Dog Tag.

Geeky Dog Tags

November 4th, 2005 by Al in Wacky Gadgets

Geek Tags
Never lose your loved geek again. Not quite as in your face (well crotch) as the Geek Belt Buckle we reported on a couple of months ago, these Geek dog tags are pretty cool. There made from Sterling Silver and even include a chain that wouldn’t look out of place with a plug at the end of it.

If you don’t want to spell it out that your a geek, you may want to get one of the more subtle tags (though they may be even geekier), the range includes:

  • Geek
  • Barcode
  • I <3 Elves
  • Uber Geek
  • I Heart Geeks
  • Barcode
  • 133+
  • Geek Girl
  • 20 Sided Die

Available for just under 20 dollars from ThinkGeek.com though I must admit I prefer the Belt Buckle.

November 3rd, 2005 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Torch Slippers
Okay you’re lying in bed listening to your favourite tunes on your pillow speaker when you realise there’s one last thing you need to do before getting your daily shut eye.

Your bedroom floor is littered with toys and gadgets which combined with the fact you had a few beers earlier means navigating to the bathroom without injury or gadget breakage is going to be a challenge to say the least.

Introducing Lighted Slippers to the rescue.
