Scaled Composites and Virgin Galactic have released the new design for viewing of the follow on to SpaceShip 1, the cleverly named, Spaceship 2! Carried aloft by Whitenight 2 the new ship is massive in comparison (still not huge, but definitely more useful).
It really looks like a winning space platform. With the New Mexico Spaceport (clever job New Mexico, you’re far better than that old Mexico) They’ll have prime launching facilities for this new system.

Automatic Indicators for your Push Bike
Safe Turn Indicator is an Australian invention that aims to make riding a push bike that little bit safer. You generally (well you should) use arm signals to indicate when you’re about to turn, what Safe Turn Indicator does is detect your arm movement and then flash like a regular motor vehicle indicator. According to the manufacturers, it offers these advantages:
- You do not have to learn to use the device, as its use can be combined with your normal hand signals
- To accommodate for your individual preferences, the base can be adjusted at 15 degree
intervals to allow the tilt switch to function at any angle - Containing 3 LEDs, the indicator is extremely visible and it flashes in a similar fashion as a vehicle/motorbike indicator does
- The Indicator is portable, lightweight and has low energy consumption
- The Indicator will keep blinking as long as your hand is raised
- The Indicator promotes safe cycling

Laptop Mounts by PanaVise
If you’re always driving here, there and everywhere and are fed up of balancing your laptop on your knee when you pull over to check your mail or see where your next appointment is, then help is at hand in the guide of the Laptop Mount from PanaVise. I’m sure this will be a boon to most travelling business people.
It should fit most make of vehicle and can be self-installed. The idea is, as always, simple but effective. When installed, you have the ability to position the mount to the most comfortable viewing and working configurment. When not in use, you just unclip from the base and stash in the trunk of your car, or wherever else you may want to store it. Accessories include USB cooling fan, light and telescoping support brace.
The Laptop Mounts will be available by the end of January 2008 and retail at $199 for the base model.
Checking Tire Pressure the Gadget Way
Checking the tire pressures of your car is generally pretty tedious and involves checking each individually either with your own tool or a trip to the garage, this next gizmo lets you see the pressure without leaving the driving seat (if, unlike me, you have a new swanky car it might already do this for you but this site is for us cheapskates too).
The TPMS-201 (which I assume stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System) is a set of valves that connect to each of your cars wheels, these then measure and transmit the pressure to a display unit that you mount on the dash. The display unit shows you each tires pressure or temperature in real time giving you the knowledge to pump your tires for optimum performance .

TankChair all terrain wheelchair
Why should not being able to walk stop you enjoying the great outdoors? That’s the question that led Brad Soden to develop the TankChair. It will do 5 MPH, over or through terrain that a normal wheelchair won’t even look at. It will even climb stairs!
Each one is custom made to order and you’re looking in the region of $15,500. There’s a waiting list, so ordering now will get you delivery around mid February.
Showstoppers@CES: Parrot Motorcycle Handsfree Kit
Whilst walking around the CES Showstoppers meet and greet, I came upon the Parrot SK4000 bluetooth handsfree motorcycle kit. Now as I have a brother who is a keen biker dude, I thought this was a great idea so was keen to learn more.
The microphone attaches to the helmet via a pressure clip and once on, it ain’t coming off, so no worries about it flying off whilst doing 70k on the freeway. Parrot have also employed innovative noise reduction and echo cancellation technology to ensure clear quality of sound. The speakers are padded and feel quite soft to the touch, and can be positioned anywhere inside the helmet for rider comfort and are slim enough so that I don’t think there’ll be any additional pressure concerns when the helmet’s put on.
