TurnSmart Mirror System

by Edwin

The TurnSmart Mirror System brings up road safety by another notch, thanks to a set of small stick-on wide angle mirrors that feature solar-powered blinking LED lights in order to improve your visibility whenever you want to make a turn. I know that more expensive new vehicles already come with this feature, but that doesn’t mean older vehicles cannot be retro-fitted with a $149.95 device.

These small wide-angle mirrors with very bright LEDs attach to your present side-view mirrors and operate along with your regular turn-signal lights. They help to alert cars in your blind spots of your intentions to change lanes. These safety mirrors with blinking lights are easy to install. They’re self-contained, solar powered units – so no wires into vehicle from mirrors. The small transmitter is easily installed in trunk or under rear bumper.

I wonder whether they have versions for motorcyclists and folks who prefer pedal power.

TurnSmart Mirror System

by AndrewD

I sit in my 15 year old Suburu, glancing at my fellow drivers with envy. Look at all of them with their fancy rear view mirrors and their LED turn signals. Psh, like I would want something like that anyway. Don’t look at me that way! No need for smugness! I already know you have a nicer car, no need to rub it in that you’re better looking and most likely better in bed too.

But there’s a few tricks up my sleeve which might just make me feel a little better about my crap-mobile, even if it’s not nearly as chic as the real thing. The TurnSmart Mirror System adds a set of wide rear view mirrors onto your current mirrors. These mirrors also happen to feature solar panels which power a set of super bright LED’s which sync with your turn signal. Solar panels! How about that, Mr. Smug Driver?!

Yet another in-vehicle gizmo for enhanced safety

by Edwin

Now the Interior Rear View Mirror and Flashing Auto Warning Light is definitely a mouthful, but this China-sourced invention aims to bring up road safety by another notch.

Pai Lung Interior Rear View Mirror is light-weight with a compact size, it is easy to attach to the inner side of the car door and efficiently helps passengers or drivers observe traffic approaching from behind. Moreover, its Flashing Auto Warning Light has a great indicator function; its bright light is able to get special attention from other car drivers, which ensures the highest security on the road.

There is no word on pricing though, but with the company Pai Lung having achieved worldwide patent rights including U.S.A., Japan, EU and Taiwan, this should be able to be available in due time.

DIY Turn Signal Biking Jacket

by Edwin

Taking a bicycle can be the healthy and green thing to do, but it can get pretty dangerous for the cyclist especially in the dark. The DIY Turn Signal Biking Jacket works by blinking the arrow in which the direction you want to turn. Of course, it works best against a dark background which could potentially lower your overall visibility when not using the turn signals. Ah well, I’ve always wondered by bicycle manufacturers did not bother to come up with turn signals for their rides. How much more expensive could it be, really?

Cops can finally track, rather than chase bad guys

by James

We’ve all been mesmerized by the local news coverage of some bad guy fleeing police in a high speed chase. And like watching car racing and hockey, we just wait for the inevitable crash that will end the pursuit. And soon enough, it comes and the foolish perp is taken away in cuffs while his car is a smoldering mass of twisted metal. But lately, police are catching all kinds of flack for pursuing these car chases at the endangerment of the local populace. Some have even taken to letting the guy go, rather than risk a crash and human lives which result in the inevitable bevy of lawsuits. But now, they can track the bad guy, rather than chase him, with a new projectile GPS transceiver which will allow the helicopter and units monitoring to simply hang back and wait for the perp to get where he’s going.

The Car Projector Clock for those that are clock deprived

by Ally

You have to love those gadgets that make you pause and really wonder.  Mostly about how many people actually purchase it.  This one is definitely one I had to stop and think for a bit as to why on earth it’s actually necessary.  Really, cars come equipped with clocks, that’s a pretty standard thing.  However, I did have at one point an old Ford that you had to look at the clock at just the right angle to actually read the time.  It was an old piece of junk though, everything about that car had issues, but I do get that there are some people that are neglected in the clock department.  It is still a far cry from the brand new car they feature on the site to show the laser in action.

The Rail Rider Lets You Cruise The Train Tracks

by AndrewD

You know those cheap damsel-in-distress movies? Where some fair maiden always manages to get the fringe of her dress stuck on a train track, or manages to get tied down to the rails by an evil gangster? But never fear! The hero of the story is always there to provide rescue at just the last second, scoring kudos from the town, not to mention getting the chick.

In real life, the “hero” would almost always be too late to the scene of the crime to do any sort of saving that couldn’t be done with a spatula. If the hero just happens to still live with their parents and not own a car, how are they supposed to get to the tracks on time (especially if their friends are busy). The Rail Rider provides an excellent self-powered method for railroad transportation.
