Handsfree Snake

May 4th, 2006 by Al in Mobile Phones, Vehicle Gadgets

Snake handsfree kit

It may look more like a snorkel but this is a hands free kit for your mobile. The Iqua SNAKE is designed to slot between your car seat and headrest, it then communicates via bluetooth with your mobile whilst you communicate via your mouth and ears with your friends.

The Green Three Wheeler

April 25th, 2006 by Al in Vehicle Gadgets

The CLEVER CarLooking a bit like a futuristic Go-Kart with a roll cage this is the University of Bath’s answer to the congestion problem found in many UK towns and cities.

Known as the Clever (Compact Low Emission Vehicle for EUrban RTransport, they obviously got stuck after V) Car this tiny machine is capable of speeds up to 100 km/h (60mph in real money) which doesn’t sound that fast but when you take into account how close to the ground your butt is may be fast enough.

Satellite navigation madness lands British drivers in hot water.

April 21st, 2006 by Paz in Vehicle Gadgets

Stranded drivers follow their sat nav systems into a ford.

It seems British drivers are getting into hot water over their blind trust in their satellite navigation systems. Well, they’re landing in cold water actually, as you can see from the photo!

The Coolest Boarding Board Ever!

April 21st, 2006 by Al in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

The Scarpar
There are not many things that make me drool (excluding pizza) but the Scarpar board did just that. The Scarpar is the first multi terrain motorised board. Unlike snow and wake boards you can use it anywhere so will be ideal when you don’t have the time or weather to enjoy your regular boarding.

You may be able to tell from the picture that the Scarpar uses mini caterpillar tracks instead of wheels, this gives it the ability to travel on grass, mud, snow anything bar water really. To really appreciate what it can do you need to watch the video of it in action.

The Cycloc Bike Hook

April 20th, 2006 by Al in Home Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

ClyclocThe cycloc is a simple solution to bike storage, instead of leaving the families bikes learnt all around the garage walls you can simply pick them up and hang them like a picture (a very muddy picture in my case).

The cycloc looks a bit like a green bucket and it’s ingeniousness is in its simplicity, only taking 3 screws to mount and capable of holding nearly any style of bike.

It’s available in the UK from Cycloc for under 50UKP (found via Stuff).

Omni-directional Forklift Truck

April 11th, 2006 by Al in Vehicle Gadgets

Aitrax Omni-directional vehicle
Technology company Airtrax are selling a new type of fork lift truck known as the SIDEWINDER. What makes the SIDEWINDER different to other truck is that it is omni-directional, which in English means it can move in any direction without turning.

The SIDEWINDER (not sure why they insist it being uppercase) achieves it’s omni-directional abilities by each wheel having it’s own motor as well as 12 specially designed rollers. I’ve read through the documentation and still don’t really understand how it works, however seeing the video of it in operation looks really cool.

Really Cool Portable GPS Tracker

April 5th, 2006 by Al in Electronic Gadgets, Mobile Phones, PC Gadgets, Spy Stuff, Vehicle Gadgets

Update: Somewhat annoyingly Think Geek have stopped selling this GPS tracker, however there is a huge selection of alternatives over on Amazon.

USB GPS TrackerThis must be one of (if not the) coolest spy gadgets I’ve ever reported on. It’s sort of a cross between a USB memory stick and a GPS receiver and what it does is store where ever you take it on the flash memory.

The Portable GPS Tracker is pretty small so you could either always carry it on you or use it in 007 spy mode by planting it on a person or vehicle you want to monitor. You may be wondering how you retrieve the stored info and secret routes, well that’s where it gets really cool.

Spoil a Child with their own Boat and Lake

April 3rd, 2006 by Al in Toys, Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Backyard Paddle BoatThis has got to be on every spoilt youngsters birthday list, the Power Paddler Lagoon Water Park for the kid who has everything.

For your thousand dollars you get an inflatable 225 square foot lagoon which holds 1,015 gallons of water, on top of which your child can sail their very own unsinkable paddle boat, though knowing kids (and a famous movie) I don’t think a boat should ever be called unsinkable. If you can afford to have 2 children (which if you’re seriously considering this you must be) then you can buy an extra *unsinkable* boat for a paltry $259.

So for $1,259 you can start developing you children’s competitive streak. Lagoon and boats available from here.
