Can-Am Spyder: One of the Coolest Motorcycles Money Can Buy

February 14th, 2007 by Nick in Vehicle Gadgets

Can-Am Spyder

Is the Can-Am Spyder Roadster a motorcycle or a car? Either way you want to look at it, this is one sexy beast. This three wheeled vehicle is a hybrid between a motorcycle and a sports car, with two wheels on the front and one in the back. With a stunning design and even better performance, the Spyder has a Vehicle Stability System (VSS) with anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control systems, and is described by BRP as the next dimension in open road riding and a paradigm shift.

Original Pink Panther Car For Sale on eBay

February 14th, 2007 by Al in Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

Pink Panther Car

If you’re old enough to remember the Pink Panther show (or one of the many repeats) you’ll recognise this car instantly, the original cool pink car from the opening credits.

The Pink Panther car is a 23 ft limo, it’s drivable but probably not road legal in the UK. It’s main function is as a crowd puller at shows but with its boudoir like furnishings it would also make the coolest love wagon (though probably not that incognito).

The auction ’s starting price is £75K (~$150K) so you’ll need lots of green to get this pink princess.

Car cassette player accepts iPod

February 12th, 2007 by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets, iPod gadgets

car-ipod-cassette.jpg

Take a look around and you will notice that iPod docks are dime a dozen, which is also the same case for FM transmitters that target the car and iPod. Is there any other alternative for those who want to listen to their favorite tunes stored on their iPods without using an FM transmitter? That question has been answered by CarDomain.com user JPPadula who has plenty of time and an inexhaustible amount of passion to create one of the most brilliant iPod cradle units anyone has seen so far to date. He did not use some form of new-fangled material to create this dock, but relied on what most people would call a relic of vehicles from a previous era - the humble cassette player.

Passport 9500i Radar Detector

February 10th, 2007 by Dan in Electronic Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

escort.pngSpeeding tickets? No thanks, I am good! Well, at least I will be once I get my hands on this new product from Escort. It is called Passport 9500i and apparently it is one of the best radar detectors on the market. In fact it won the “Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice” award.

Here is a quote from the official website: “Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in new product design and innovation, the PASSPORT 9500i is the biggest breakthrough in radar and laser protection since the original ESCORT was launched in 1978. The PASSPORT 9500i redefines what a radar detector should do.” Read the rest of this entry »

Garmin GPS Review

February 9th, 2007 by methodshop in Gadget Reviews, Vehicle Gadgets

Sometimes it’s not just about what should you bring, but how in the hell you get there. If you’re like me (a guy) you can proabably make it from Point A to Point B in record time. The problem is, Point B is not actually your destination, but somewhere a mile or two from it. Now, I’ve been wanting a GPS for years but was concerned my wife thought it too expensive of a “toy.” So I did the next best thing… I bought her one for Christmas. (Kind of like Homer buying Marge a bowling ball) And the funny thing is, she has this amazing internal compass. She hardly ever needs the GPS, so it usually resides with me.

The Garmin Garmin Nuvi 360 does everything you want and more. The Bluetooth technology links seamlessly with your cell phone for handsfree conversations. Map and audio directions put you exactly where you want to go. It can also find restaurants by genre and distance, as well as lodging and gas stations. Did I mention it’s also an MP3 player? One of the coolest features is the optional up to date traffic reports. It automatically processes the information on your route, and takes you around the problem. Now, onto the city guide… not in your car, on foot. Once you’ve decided on your restaurant, museum, or Broadway Show, it’ll take you to the front door.

I’ve been using it for a little over a month and it works flawlessly. The touchscreen makes inputting destinations a snap. Due to the small size and many functions, I don’t ever see myself having to buy my wife another one… till next year.

Cheap remote car starter

February 7th, 2007 by Mike in Vehicle Gadgets

Design Tech Remote Car Starter
It’s not exactly warm these days, it is winter after all. That’s not bad if your in your nice house that is at a comfortable 72 degrees, but if you have to walk out to your each morning it’s not going to be so lovely. Instead, the seats are going to be freezing and it’ll be 10 minutes before the heater is ready to do its job. You could have someone run out in the cold to start it for you or you could do it yourself. Don’t be silly, I didn’t mean you yourself would run outside to do it, you’d have it done automatically with the Design Tech Remote Car Starter.

BMW Inflatable Bubble Tent

February 7th, 2007 by Al in Conceptual Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets

BMW Camping Bubble

Could this be the way BMW drivers go camping in the future (actually have BMW drivers even heard of camping), the BMW inflatable bubble tent.

The unique item attaches to the back end of the car, allowing campers to make use of the inside of the car, and is inflated is by a low-voltage fan hooked up to the car’s cigarette lighter. All-in, the Air Camper can accommodate two people.
