Attaching a two-stroke engine to a pair of Rollerblades has a Darwin Award written all over it, they do sound cool though.

The top speed is only 20mph but when your feet are mere inches off the floor that is going to feel a whole load faster. Half of me is thinking I want a pair, whilst the other half is saying stop being a dumb ass you accident prone fool.

You’re probably been reading about e-Ink concepts that are out there (here and here for example).

These, like the many before them, treat e-Ink as a conceptual anomaly that may one day be cool.

Well, it has been here for a bit, in useful practice. The people at ARINC developed the eFLYBOOK and it is available for pilots the world over. It is an e-Ink viewer for use in aircraft, mainly for pilots.

This is an entirely interactive tablet (hmmm, you Tablet PC (and Mac) folks paying attention,, maybe the back of a regular laptop screen maybe?) that stores, maps, charts, and forms for pilots to fill out. So, yes, I’ve already shown proof I’m a tad weird, but, here’s more proof.

I think Knee-boards are cool.

Yes, I’m still not quite sure why either. Maybe it is because you can use them to carry important little notes like,

“If flying upside-down, do not release bombs.”

or

“Pay attention to the radar when flying, those other dots you see at your altitude can hit you and it’ll be bad.”

So you know, important notes that pilots use. While I’m not a pilot, I always am writing notes to myself, as well as cruising all over the office. So, you guessed it, I’ve always wanted one. Maybe this falls into the same category as the wrist coach for why I think it’s cool to be doing something and be able to read important information, (just ask any NFL quarterback).

Maybe this’ll be the year I finally buckle down and get one for myself.

How many accidents could have been prevented if the driver was alert enough to avoid that obstacle or apply the brakes a fraction of a second earlier? The answer would be plenty, of course, but now is no time to cry over spilled milk. Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo have worked with their counterparts from Oita University and the Shimane Institute of Health Science as well as Delta Tooling to develop a prototype of a smart car seat that can detect whether the occupant is about to nod off into la-la land. You might find it weird that this post is about gadgets that give your cup holders some real use, you know, make it do more work than just hold a drink. Ever wanted to tell the driver behind you exactly what you think of them (without stopping and getting your head ripped off)?

Now you can with the scrolling digital license plate frame (pictured) or for your back window the rear deck scrolling digital message system. Both display a scrolling LED message that you can program and then activate via remote control.
