Intersecting Slot Car And Train Set
Buses and trains, cars and trucks. These are all favorite playthings for children, so why not get your holiday shopping done earlier this year with the Intersecting Slot Car And Train Set? It isn’t going to be cheap, mind you, burning a cool $299.95 in your pocket in the process, but at least this racing toy will bring together the throttle-happy thrill of a slot car set alongside the steady lumbering of a train set. Thanks to the track’s single intersection, it enables racers to replay that ever tense situation of beating the train to avoid high-velocity impacts, and it will require an innate sense of timing for your competitor to remain stranded at the crossing until the train passes. Hand-trigger controllers will be used to tear around the track’s seven curves, where one of them even includes a 180º hairpin turn for added challenge. The train itself comprises of a locomotive with a working headlight, four freight cars, and a caboose, and it can also move forward and reverse using the included transformer/controller. Each purchase comes with 11 pieces of track for slot car set, 15 pieces for the train set. Looks like kids aren’t the only ones to have fun with this…
Racing video game meets R/C car, with corrugated cardboard
Once I saw this set-up, I knew that I had to report on it.
After all, it is a sit-down arcade racing game that uses a real car! Granted, it is a small, remote controlled car that goes around a corrugated cardboard track, but the R/C car has a camera so you can see as you are driving!
I have a video of it after the jump so you can see it in action, and you really should.

Remote Controlled Water Soaker

Swimways offers all sorts of fun gadgets for out in the pool. One of them has already made it onto Coolest Gadgets and this one is just as awesome as the last. The other one was a game that required you to dive and search for the gadget as fast as possible. This one allows you to attack just about anyone that happens to come within shooting distance of the pool. This is the absolute perfect gift to give someone else’s kids for them to torture their parents with.

GRASP Labs creates quad copters to pick up things
This isn’t the first time we have covered flying drone robots such as the Parrot Ar.Drone, or the voice-controlled one at MIT.
This particular one is from UPenn, developed by the GRASP Lab. I have no idea if GRASP is supposed to stand for something, but it certainly is a good enough description of what this quad-copter does.
I have included a video of it so you can watch after the jump. You can see one of them picking up a board or something, and you will notice how much it flies into the air when it drops it. At least it does not spiral out of control.

Aerial Camera to mount on RC planes

Instead of purchasing an expensive toy plane or helicopter with a camera already built into it, you could buy a camera seperate. That way you could just pop it onto your favorite RC aircraft instead of having to replace it with something completely new. Also if you happen to crash the plane you’re more likely to have to replace either the plane or the camera rather than the whole thing.

Mario R/C Cars set to rock your (kids’) world

ThinkGeek aims to bring out the kid in you with the Mario R/C Cars set, where it will bring the game of Mario Kart into the real world. Of course, don’t expect these tiny R/C vehicles to be able to participate on tarmac tracks, but you can race on top of a kitchen table (we would personally prefer it to be done on the floor since it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand with the remote control as well!) – just make sure you don’t steer your car off the table! You can choose between Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi, where they can all move forward and backward and turn left and right, while a “dash” button offers an extra burst of speed when you need it the most – guess this works only once per race? All vehicles will come with a happy banana peel and Koopa Troopa shell which can be used as an obstacle on your racetrack. There is a 5-feet range for the controller, where it retails for $25.99 a pop.
Rechargeable Super R/C Land & Sea Amphibious Air Soft Battle Tank
Not too sure what you can get for Junior as a birthday present? We’re pretty sure that he wouldn’t mind bringing home the Rechargeable Super R/C Land & Sea Amphibious Air Soft Battle Tank from ThinkGeek – we’re pretty sure he will have a field day shooting everything in sight, with the family cat being the main victim as he pumps up to 200 BBs in the poor feline’s direction. This unique remote control toy is full well capable of traversing over land and water, thanks to its 4×4 precision-grip wheels. Needless to say, it is water resistant, and can transform between tank and ship forms within seconds – could this be a precursor of the Transformers on our planet? Only time will tell, but you will first have to fork out $59.99 to have fun with this puppy.
RC Snap Circuits Rover
Kids today are smarter than ever (isn’t that the same with each new generation?), but how do you do your best to equip them when it comes to facing the future which will surely be even deeper into the world of electronics than where we are today? Well, ThinkGeek has thought up of a solution – the RC Snap Circuits Rover that will introduce them to the world of robots and artificial intelligence, exposing them to what could possibly be the future SkyNet that rains death on mankind should it ever attain self-consciousness. The RC Snap Circuits Rover comes with a bunch of capacitors, resistors, and wires that will attach to the large plastic base via easy button snaps. It is easy to configure different circuit diagrams while picking up the basics of electronics, where a wireless 27 mHz multi-channel remote control will help you control the RC Snap Circuits Rover from afar as long as it is within range. You can bring this puppy home for $79.99 today and prepare Junior to be the next John Connor.
