Infrared Tracker Remote Control Car follows the light

September 25th, 2008 by Mark R in Remote Control, Remote Control Toys, Toys

I’m not really in to remote control cars, and I find the controls complicated. Some of them have two joysticks with one for speed and one for direction, but they take a little work before the user gets used to them.

If you really want to simplify this controlling process, you should probably check out the Infrared Tracker Remote Control Car. All you need to do is take the controller and point it where you want to go.

The controller has some sort of laser pointer, and the car will move wherever the little point of light is going. I’m not certain how this tech works, but it has something to do with the infrared tracker can sense the laser and go to it.

Robotic Spyplanes have Medical uses too

September 15th, 2008 by Mark R in Electronic Gadgets, GPS gadgets, Medical Gadgets, Remote Control, Remote Control Toys, Robot Gadgets, Spy Stuff

This isn’t the first time that we have reported on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and most of the time, these are used for spying in enemy territory. It appears that UAVs have medicinal uses as electronic flying couriers.

Think of them as that big G button on Speed Racer’s Mach 5 that fires an electronic homing pigeon. It was used on the cartoon all the time, but only mentioned in the movie. (By the way, the Speed Racer movie is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, and you should invest your money in a film that was incredibly awesome and yet was somehow a box-office flop.)

Sorry for digression, but I thought the Speed Racer reference would give you a good idea what these electronic courier pigeons do. These things can be programmed to carry medical supplies to and fro to places that don’t have advanced hospitals, such as Third World countries.

Zero Gravity Micro R/C Car

September 1st, 2008 by Edwin in Remote Control Toys

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all where remote control cars are concerned, along ambles the Zero Gravity Micro R/C Car. This device is touted to be extremely maneuverable, and is able to perform gravity-defying moves along the wall.

So how does it work then? Well, Zero Gravity Micro features an advanced Venturi suction system that works a bit like a vacuum cleaner. Special fans create massive down-force to keep it glued to the wall whilst flexible skirts around the chassis ensure the vacuum remains sealed. You control the action via a stylish twin toggle infra-red transmitter and the vehicle itself is powered by a rechargeable battery. Simply charge and go.

For £29.95, you will be able to choose from black or red colors, and with four frequencies to select from, you will be able to have fun with three other racers, but make sure your neck gets more than enough rest since looking at a ceiling all day long can get pretty sore.

Draganflyer X6

August 31st, 2008 by Edwin in Remote Control, Remote Control Toys, Spy Stuff

I’m not too sure if the Draganflyer X6 was not spelt properly on purpose, but whatever it is, the name isn’t really more important compared to what the Draganflyer X6 offers.

The Draganflyer X6 is a remotely operated, unmanned, miniature helicopter designed to carry wireless video cameras and still cameras. Operate the Draganflyer X6 helicopter with the easy to use handheld controller while viewing what the helicopter sees through video glasses. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter uses a unique 6-rotor design refined from an original concept that has been under development since early 2006. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter uses 11 sensors and thousands of lines of code to self-stabilize during flight. This means the Draganflyer X6 is easier to fly than any other helicopter in its class. The Draganflyer X6 on-board software is the result of extensive testing and development. The Draganflyer X6 helicopter is a revolutionary reconnaissance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV); it can be transported in a 5.5″ diameter tube slung over the users back while always being ready to launch immediately. Fly it over hills to get a safe view of what is on the other side.

I think for the layman, most of them will use it for less altruistic purposes such as spying on the enemy.

Remote Controlled Hovering Space Surfer

August 31st, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Remote Control Toys

Looks a whole lot like Boba Fett to me at first glance, this Remote Controlled Hovering Space Surfer.

This is the remote controlled 9″ space surfer that hovers in the air, spins 360, and moves left, right, forward, and backward – all while levitating parallel to the ground. Capable of indoor or outdoor flights, the space surfer has dual propellers that generate enough thrust to send the device from a stationary position to 66-feet in the air without requiring a hand-launch. The radio frequency remote control has proportional throttle and trim settings that allow it to be precisely controlled through climbs, descents, and turns. Made from durable EPP foam, the aircraft’s body withstands turbulent flights and crash landings. Pre-assembled and ready to fly, the device is powered by a rechargeable battery that recharges via the included AC adapter.

The Remote Controlled Hovering Space Surfer will come with a 27 foot range remote and is powered by a 9-volt battery. The theory of diminishing returns applies here – it takes 70 minutes to charge, and yet offers just a quarter of an hour’s worth of R&R time. You can pick it up for $89.95.

R/C Mini Tank

August 27th, 2008 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Remote Control Toys

Are you bored at the office? I’m sure we’ve seen plenty of remote controlled toys in the past, but that won’t stop me from adding the R/C Mini Tank to our annals.

R/C Mini Tank is the coolest racing car you have ever seen. It is designed in the military tank shape. It can be charged on the remote control which is powered by 3pcs AA batteries only. Just install the batteries and enjoy playing it with your friends. Here comes with Green Tank and Camouflage Tank.

It certainly doesn’t look too professional, and too bad there are no laser fights you can hold with this, otherwise you and your mate could build an elaborate obstacle course, waiting for someone to make that fatal move first. The R/C Mini Tank will retail for $14.50 a pop.

Wrex the robot dog

August 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Remote Control Toys, Robot Gadgets, Toys

Al managed to catch hold of Wrex the robot dog at CES earlier this year, and true to his word, we’re now in the third quarter of 2008 and Gizoo’s offering Wrex the robot dog for the masses.

Wrex the robot dog gives paw, sneezes, gets hungry and needs to pee, just like a living breathing version of man’s best friend. You can train him, play with him and even reprogramme him into a cat or the original Robosapien. And in keeping with Wrex the Dawg’s slap dash body, your robot dog malfunctions every now and again and you will have to save the day and repair him. Wrex the Dawg has three distinctive moods, including happy, angry and crazy, and if you’re in any doubt as to which one he’s in check the eyes. Wrex’s eyes go nuts, spinning like you’ve just won on a slot machine and stopping on a set that match his mood and desires. Pick a mood and control Wrex the Dawg using the remote control or set his moods to random and let him roam autonomously off the leash. Preorder yours today for heaps upon heaps of fun in one tiny package.

Sounds as though this will make for an extremely desirable Christmas present! Wrex the robot dog will ship at the end of this month, so make sure you plonk down £99.95 if you want one by then.

R/C Dead Fred zombie

August 7th, 2008 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Garden Gadgets, Remote Control Toys

Is this super scary or what? Halloween comes a little bit early with the remote-controlled Dead Fred version, but it looks set to be a surefire winner if the manufacturers could work on reducing the $2,650 price tag. This 4-foot long realistic looking zombie is powered by a quartet of DC motors and two 12-volt batteries, allowing it to groan, scream and talk in full digital audio thanks to an onboard amplifier and speaker. Perfect to keep those pesky kids off your well-manicured lawn. Gotta love Dead Fred’s nasty looking entrails behind.
