Horse Racing Gadget Style

June 25th, 2007 by Al in Remote Control Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Horse Racing Challenge

I’m not a big fan of horse racing, I’ve been a few times and on each occasion lost my beer money pretty quickly. However this looks kind of fun, Horse Racing Challenge, a Scaletrix like thing with nags instead of cars.

This nail-bitingly brilliant game utilises infra-red RC horses, so unlike other horsey racers you actually control your gee gee as it thunders around the track. This means you can barge competitors out of the way, cut them up or jockey for position as you gallop into corners.

Each horse is controlled via a nifty little handheld transmitter featuring two joypads to control forward movement and steering. They also double up as charging units for the horses - simply attach the integrated lead to your gee gee and power up. No oats or apples required.

Horse Racing Challenge is available at Firebox for £49.95, a lot cheaper than losing the shirt off your back.

Be serious… about your toys! The suitcase racing set

May 28th, 2007 by Andi in Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Remote Control Toys, Toys, Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

gk-briefcase
Look at this! an aluminium suitcase featuring a nice clean finish. It fits perfectly with your corporate penguin’s suit. It will make you look very good when attending a meeting or just going to work.

The real treat however is inside: It’s a guide rail racing track with go-karts. It respects the classic 1:87 scale. The track is well designed, looks pretty tricky to master and totals at about 2 meters length.

Want to see it? Read on…

Remote control Flying dinosaur - The Pterosaur

May 17th, 2007 by Al in Remote Control Toys

Pterosaur

Remote control toys are often pretty cool, examples being R2D2 and the wall climbing car, and some are just plain old wacky, R/C Sumo wrestlers and the farting teddy spring to mind. I’m not sure yet which category this one falls in, Pterosaur, the remote control flying dinosaur.

Dream Racer cars for the disabled

May 11th, 2007 by Edwin in Remote Control Toys, Toys, Vehicle Gadgets

dream-racer.jpgRaising the self-confidence level of a child especially after a horrific accident can be quite a hard task to do, even more so if the child has been left disabled or paralyzed to a certain extent. One thing’s for sure though - remote control cars are definitely fun whether you still have your limbs intact or not, which is why Mark and Mike have worked together since last year to improve the lives of disabled children by coming up with remote controlled radio cars that do away with the standard controller. Known as the Dream Racer car, the controllers can be custom built to cater for children and young adults who experience physical disabilities.

Giddy up, we’ve got a horse to flog

May 9th, 2007 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

horse-racing-set.jpg

Horse racing isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but attend any race during the weekend and chances are you’ll be seeing more money change hands that day than you’ll ever do in a single day at the bank. For those who are trying to wean themselves off the horse race betting habit (as well as others who are looking for a suitable racing toy for their kids) can always check out the Horse Racing Challenge Set that features a full fledged miniature race track, some infrared remote controlled horses, and a whip to get those mounts moving - nah, I’m kidding. You get a tiny handheld transmitter which is then used to flog those horses across the finish line. A fine start for kids who want to grow up and be a jockey.

‘Let’s-a-go’! Mario Kart, live!

April 27th, 2007 by Andi in Remote Control Toys

R/C Mario
Thinkgeek have just received a cool new RC toy, with a special appeal to us nostalgic console buffs that have enjoyed Mario Kart. Just imagine the little guy rolling through your hallway or outside on the sidewalk while going ‘Hey-a, you very good-a’.

The kart is 12 inches long and is about just as high. For added nostalgia and ‘realism’, the remote control is styled after the GameCube controller.
