Remote Controlled Demolition Derby

September 23rd, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

rc-demo-derbyDestroying can be fun sometimes, as there is always a feeling of satisfaction when it comes to starting from a new slate. Well, if you love demolishing stuff, the Remote Controlled Demolition Derby might be your cup of tea.

These are the remote controlled cars that can be repeatedly smashed to create unlimited demolition derbies. When the cars are crashed head-on into each other or their hoods and doors will dislodge; a hit to the rear pops the roof and a door (Play Video.) The parts can be easily pushed back into place for continued smashing. The remote controls forward, backward, left, and right movement. Two ramps and four cones are included, allowing you to create obstacle courses or stunts.

We’d strongly recommend getting rechargeable batteries for this though, as the set will require 10 AAA batteries before you can get started. While it has been labeled as “Ages 3 and up”, we’re sure you can come up with some fun game in your drunken haze with the $49.95 Remote Controlled Demolition Derby.

MaruBot Football League better than soccer video game

September 22nd, 2009 by Mark R in Gaming Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Sport, Toys

01_img02-thumb-550x403-24530Just when I am still reeling after Space Foosball, another electronic tabletop game that requires the player to stand comes my way.

Introducing MaruBot Football League, a new way of playing soccer on the table. As you can see, miniature robots rest safely under glass, and it is up to the four players (two on one team, two on the other) to control them.

These players are moved by joystick controls, and their goal is to make goals. Oddly enough, these robots have LEDs in their eyes that indicate emotions. So if the other team scores a goal, they look flat and sad. If you make a goal, the eyes look wide and happy. Check out a mini photo gallery after the jump to see for yourself.

USB Rocking Teddy Bear

September 20th, 2009 by Edwin in PC Gadgets, Toys, USB Gadgets

rockbearNow here’s something you don’t see every day – the $47 USB Rocking Teddy Bear. This plush bear might look soft enough to hug whenever you’re about to call it a night, but he comes with an added caveat – built-in hi-fi speakers that are able to pump out your favorite tunes from your iPod, iPhone or portable media player of choice (as long as it is compatible with the 3.5mm jack, that is). He is connected through a USB cord where he derives power from, although those who tend to be portable can always tote around a quartet of AA batteries with them. Not only will he “sing” your tunes, he will even perform a little dance – not something that will amuse your boss, but it might just catch the eye of that hot-looking secretary.

Pac-Man Rubik’s Cube

September 20th, 2009 by Edwin in DIY Gadgets, Toys

pacman-rubicks-cube

Most of the older folks who are in their middle age these days would have definitely remembered the Rubik’s Cube from their youthful days, although whether that memory is a fond one of completing it or a frustrating effort that ended at the second tier colored line. If you’re a geek, here’s one that ought to relive those memories – the Pac-Man Rubik’s Cube. It was designed with ghosts as well as Pac-Man alongside his favorite fruit, cherries, among other favorite Pac-Man icons that have stood the test of time. Apart from the change in the images compared to just using color, the solving mechanism remains the same. Get this from Etsy for $7.

Revomaze Extreme Puzzle

September 18th, 2009 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Toys

revomazeThink you have got it all down pat upstairs, and take pride in your perfect 4.0 grades at school and college? Well, if you’re a puzzle lover who has yet to meet your match, perhaps the Revomaze Extreme Puzzle might just break that precious record of yours by offering an unprecedented level of challenge (unprecedented and not impossible – ThinkGeek isn’t asking you to the solution for world peace).

Individually milled from a solid block of metal, the Revomaze features an internal labyrinth full of dead ends, traps, and one way paths you need to navigate to remove the metal core and solve the puzzle. What makes the Revomaze truly great is its challenge to both your mental and physical aptitude. You need dexterity to manipulate the Revomaze as well as brain power to ferret out the correct path in the labyrinth. One wrong move and you’re forced to start from the beginning. However the Revomaze is very fair minded…you screw up, you get punished, but you’re always aware of whether you are making progress towards the solution.

You could do a lot worse by handing $119.99 over to someone else to tickle your mind…

Petcare Robot: Play with your pet from a distance

September 15th, 2009 by Mark R in Conceptual Gadgets, Pet Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

petcare-robotThe first time I saw this picture, I thought someone took an alien head and mounted it on the body of a UFO. In reality, this is the PetCare robot, a mobile webcam that allows you to monitor your pet from a distance.

I know when I leave my dog alone for a while, I would feel better if he was occupied by playing with this toy rather than chewing up my garbage. This is assuming that I have nothing better to do on my vacation than operate this toy on the Internet.

Not only is this camera/toy mobile by remote control through the Internet, but the ball that it bears is also remote control as well. In fact, the ball can be charged in the mobile camera itself. I’m not certain how the robot can be charged, or if it can be charged from a distance.

Telekinetic Obstacle Course

September 15th, 2009 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Toys

telekinesis-courseShow the world that you literally use your brain with the Telekinetic Obstacle Course, where it requires one to focus brain waves to maneuver a ball through the obstacle course right in front of you. Pretty unnerving, right? Now you get a semblance of how telekinesis feels like, making you wonder just how infinitely more powerful fictional mutants like Psylocke or Jean Grey handle this experience.

A headband and two earlobe clips measure theta wave activity produced by your brain (similar to EEG monitoring technology used by medical professionals). As you relax and concentrate, the headband sends a wireless signal (based on your mental commands) to the game’s air fan, which increases or decreases its speed, suspending or lowering a foam ball; a knob enables you to turn the gameboard in order to move the ball through one of eight obstacles, including hoops, teeter-totters, baskets, or chutes. The obstacles may be interchanged; includes nine total obstacles.

Powered by a quartet of C batteries and a trio of AAA batteries, the Telekinetic Obstacle Course would make for a nice present this Christmas for $99.95.

Lego Walkie Talkies don’t require assembly

September 8th, 2009 by Ally in Electronic Gadgets, Toys

Lego Walkie Talkies

These aren’t some DIY project that you dream of accomplishing someday when you get a bunch of spare time.  No, instead, this is something you can purchase.  Of course it is a bit dissappointing that the walkie talkies aren’t actually made out of Legos.  However, even if it is just a Lego decorated decal, it’s still instantly better than the boring plain walkie talkies.
