Is it a boat, is it a plane no it’s a Hydro Fibian

November 20th, 2005 by Al in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Hydro Fibian
What remote control toy costs 300 quid and doesn’t now whether it’s a boat or a plane, the Hydro Fibian of course.

I must admit first impressions are not great, this does not look like three hundred pounds worth of advanced remote control quality kit and the official website leaves a lot to be desired in the design department but this toy is cool…

What iZ it, it’s an iZ

October 26th, 2005 by Al in Toys, Wacky Gadgets, Audio/Video Gadgets

iZ Musical Dancer
As you can probably tell by the picture this is one strange gadget, if we had to guess what it was just by looking at it we’d also struggle. According to the inventors of the iZ the green alien looking thing is an “interactive animatronic DJ/speaker” which basically means it’s a speaker that moves and you can interact with :).

You can connect it to your favourite music player using a standard socket and the iZ will serve as it’s speaker. The iZ’s eyes will bounce up and down and it’s nose lights up in time to the music (a very strange site).

Stress relief…

October 5th, 2005 by Marc in Toys, Wacky Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets

Foam Brick
I’m sure we’ve all had days where we just wanted to throw something. Hard. Usually at someone, or at the very least at something breakable. And most of the time you just don’t follow through - the lawsuits, paperwork and general hassle involved in replacing the windows are all enough to put you off the idea.

But I say go for it - just make sure you’re doing it with one of these foam bricks from drinkstuff.com and not the real thing!

GammaMaster geiger counter watch

September 28th, 2005 by Marc in Toys, Miscellaneous Gadgets

GammaMaster watch
I was going to write a post about a cool Japanese watch I saw, but in trying to find it I came across this one which is much better! GammaWatch.com are selling an integrated geiger counter and digital watch, so if those pesky terrorists release a dirty bomb in your immediate vacinity you’ll be the first to know. (Although I think the big bang might be a subtle hint too).

It’s waterproof to 100 meters which is the only part of the specification sheet I could actually understand! Thankfully we don’t need to understand the numbers anyway, the watch has some handy dials and an alarm for when you wander into an area you shouldn’t have.

Geeky Wrapping Paper for Forum Junkies

September 28th, 2005 by Al in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Geeky Paper
It’s all well and good buying the perfect gadget gift for that special geek in your life but wrapping the present in paper covered in clowns or balloons isn’t really appropriate is it now. You can now get much more suitable (and expensive) wrapping paper to prove how much thought you’ve put in to that special present.

Not your average pogo stick

September 25th, 2005 by Marc in Toys

Flybar
Wow. Pogo sticks have come a way since I was a kid. The ones I remember were not much more than a spring in a tube. You could bounce around with them but you’d not clear more than a foot or so off the ground.

The inventors of the flybar obviously decided that wasn’t good enough. They went back to the drawing board and came up with something that can jump 5 feet high! (That’s about 1.5 meters in real money) . It’s all done without any artifical aid too - no pneumatics, electrics or other tricks.

Then I saw the small print. I thought that this 5 foot potential would only be good for anorexic teenagers - but apparently not. The top limit is 250lbs which would even handle me (just about). The thought of 250lbs crashing down out of control from 5 feet up is quite a sobering one but I’d give it a go!

X-UFO

September 19th, 2005 by Anita in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

xufo
Do you believe in UFO’s? Well, all of your friends will after you control this awesome remote controlled flying saucer. Just hide behind the trees or bushes in your neighborhood and see how long it takes for the neighbors to call the police, the fire department and maybe even the president when they see a flying saucer hovering outside their windows.

This cool remote controlled flying saucer is made with lightweight carbon fiver and EPP foam. It can fly up to around 330 feet and can even fly indoors if you have a large enough home.
