The Robosapien Homer (and Spidey)

January 25th, 2007 by Al in Robot Gadgets, Toys

Homerspaien Spidersapien

Robosapiens have always been one of the coolest toys to own and they’ve just got a smidgen cooler with the upcoming release (no firm date yet) of the Homersapien and Spidersapien. So instead of having a boring old robot looking robot you’ll be able to get one that looks like Homer on steroids.

Sneaker Transformers

January 25th, 2007 by Al in Toys

Transformer Nikes

Transformers - Footwear in disguise. This has got to be the best albeit not coolest disguise for any robots intent on world domination, sneakers.

Yep the new transformer robots Convoy and Megatron don’t convert into something cool like planets, space ships or jungle animals (ok maybe they weren’t so cool) they transform into ordinary looking Nike trainers. So be careful next time your getting ready to go to the gym.

They are due out May 2007 and can be pre-ordered from Big Bad Toy Store, found via UberGizmo and Gizmodo.

Minimalistic Dolls House

January 23rd, 2007 by Al in Toys

Minimalistic Dolls House

I’m not really a connoisseur to dolls houses but this is probably the coolest I’ve seen, the Villa Sibi a truly modernistic and minimalistic doll residence.

Bang your desk with satisfaction

January 22nd, 2007 by Edwin in Toys

desktop-stress-reliever.jpgIt is Monday (already), and you have a never ending pile of work coming your way, your kids are sick, one of them is still mourning for a dead pet, your wife is having PMS, your colleagues are being unreasonable, and your boss requires you to stay back till late this week since it is crunch time for one of the projects. There is only so much stress you can take, and you feel that the veins at the side of your head are throbbing so badly, they are on the verge of exploding. The fact that the office phone is ringing incessantly doesn’t help either, and you found a fly in your coffee which was incorrectly mixed by the tea lady. Just when you’re about to explode and commit foul murder on whoever that walks by, you realize that there is a cheap solution to all this unwanted anger and stress - the Desktop Stress Reliever toy.

Aquaclimb lets you rock climb in your pool

January 17th, 2007 by Mike in Home Gadgets, Toys

Aquaclimb
In case you’ve been to busy to venture outside, it’s getting pretty cold out. It is Winter after all, and it tends to get cold that time of year. So, I figured, what better time to introduce an insanely awesome pool gadget. Yep, unless you’ve got an indoor pool with a nice, high roof, you won’t be using your brand new Aquaclimb for a few more months. Hah!

Making Cash Puzzle Gifts

January 16th, 2007 by Al in Gadget Gift Ideas, Toys

Money Maze Gift

I always think it’s a bit of a cop out giving people cash or gift certificates as presents (though if somebody wants to shower me with cash I won’t complain) and besides choosing the gift is half the fun. I came across a cool compromise today, the Money Maze.

With the money maze the recipient has to navigate a ball bearing around a maze before they can get at the enclosed monetary gift, so they’ve got to work for their pressie (it may be an idea to hand over the gift after they’ve had a few Birthday drinkies :))

The money maze is available from Firebox for £11.95, but make sure you’ve got enough cash left to put in it.

Spyke - The Make Your Own WiFi Spy Robot

January 10th, 2007 by Al in CES 2007, DIY Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Robot Gadgets, Spy Stuff

Spyke WiFi

It’s another robot with a cutesy name, SPYKE the WiFi Spy Robot. It’s due to be sold under the Meccano brand name which is pretty appropriate as you’ll have to make him your self.

First Cool CES Toy - The BladeRunner Recon

January 6th, 2007 by Al in CES 2007, Remote Control Toys

BladeRunner Recon

After 20 hours of traveling and queuing I had to choose between drinking and gambling or attending the first official CES event of 2007, CES Unveiled and am I pleased the geeky side of my head won that argument.

The CES show opens good and proper on Monday but tonight they gave us a bit of a preview of what to expect. There were 30 or so exhibits to have a look and play aroud with (the main show is host to something like 2,700 spread over 65 miles of carpet) and the one that particularly caught my eye was the BladeRunner Recon remote control helicopter.
