Remote Controlled Land, Sea and Air Vehicle

December 17th, 2007 by Edwin in Electronic Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

remote-control-als.jpgThe Remote Controlled Land, Sea and Air Vehicle allows you to have fun no matter where you are.

This is the remote-controlled vehicle that can be operated on the ground, on the water, and in the air. This nimble craft has three runners on its polynyolene undercarriage that glide directly atop water, grass, or concrete, allowing this craft to race directly against RC boats and cars–but with a tap of the elevator button, it can shoot skyward, executing a rapid vertical climb or dodging and darting through a dizzying array of acrobatics. The high-torque motor is capable of three speeds, controlled by the included radio transmitter, which also controls pitch and yaw. The double-coated, high-impact wings will withstand the rigors of intense maneuvering and rough landings, while the specially designed hatch ensures that batteries and electronics stay secure and dry. The 3-channel digital proportional radio system provides precise control up to a range of 500′.

You can have your fun on all three terrains for $99.95.

iNo Interactive Game Plays Well with the iPod

December 14th, 2007 by Mark R in Toys, iPod gadgets

iNo Interactive Game

Considering how much the iPod has changed our lives, isn’t it about time a game was designed around it. Kind of like that Channel surfing game where you have to find something on the remote in order to win.

Such is the concept behind the iNo Interactive Game. The game is played as players alternate putting their iPods in the iNo, and then it randomly selects a tune to play. I think it has some speakers on it for that purpose.

After that, the players chime in with one of the four wireless remotes, and then guess the song it plays. Personally, I think the guy who has the iPod in the iNo has an unfair advantage.

Petrol Powered RC Hummer Monster Truck

December 10th, 2007 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

petrol-hummer.jpgHere’s the grown up version of battery-powered remote control toy cars - the Petrol Powered RC Hummer Monster Truck.

This is an actual petrol powered model, meaning you use fuel from a petrol station. It runs on a mix of normal unleaded petrol and 2 stroke oil. Both of these are available from any petrol station which makes them more practical and cheap to run. Mixing the petrol is very easy. You simply fill up a petrol can with 5 liters of unleaded at the petrol station then pour in 250ml of 2 stroke oil.

Sounds like a pretty volatile mix, so I guess having adult supervision while playing this is a must. The Petrol Powered RC Hummer Monster Truck hits your pocket with a monster price too - £349.

The Force Is Strong With Your Poker Chips

December 7th, 2007 by Carolyn in Gaming Gadgets, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Toys

starwarspoker.jpgYou know if you have a Star Wars fanatic in your family. They own a replica of a light saber and they have it proudly displayed in their living room. They own one or more pieces of Star Wars dinnerware or glassware. They own every conceivable release of the Star Wars movies (even the ones on Laserdisc) and have gone to at least one con dressed up as a Storm Trooper or Obi Wan Kenobi. They live, breathe and sleep Star Wars. So how can you buy a gift for a Star Wars fan that seems to have everything in their collection?

There’s one thing they may not have and is pretty cool to boot: the Star Wars Poker Chip set. The set includes a chrome Death Star dealer button and colorful chips illustrated by Russell Walks (well known illustrator and painter of Star Wars images). The chips include 100 blue (50 Luke Skywalker, 50 Obi-Wan Kenobi); 50 green (Yoda); and 50 red (Darth Vader). Read the rest of this entry »

December 6th, 2007 by Carolyn in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Toys, Wacky Gadgets

sw700sil_pip.jpgEveryone has a “puzzle master” on their holiday gift list. They’re the ones who loved the Rubik’s Cube, is a wizard at Sudoku and mere 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles are a yawn.

This year, give them the ultimate puzzle gift. Sharper Image is selling The ISIS puzzle globe and is touting it as the “the most difficult puzzle ever.”

Each individual ISIS is etched with two unique 10-digit numbers, one visible on the outside, the other hidden on the inside, only uncovered when you solve the globe puzzle. Guitar Hero Mobile turns your cell into an Axe … sort of

December 5th, 2007 by James in Gaming Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Toys

Guitar Hero Mobile

Guitar Hero Mobile launches on Verizon Wireless this month. Working with wireless game company Hands-On Mobile, Activision has dumbed it down a bit, but they kinda had to. I mean, we’re talking cellphones here not a Les Paul. Still, it all looks, and sounds very familiar.

Black Ghost Helicopter for the kids

December 4th, 2007 by Edwin in Childrens Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Remote Control Toys

black-ghost.jpgIf your kid is into all things military, then the Black Ghost Helicopter toy could be just the right present.

Not far off looking like an Apache helicopter (if you squint a bit) but sadly without the weaponry, this tiny little powerhouse is so astonishingly stable even an idiot can fly it. We tested it on of our idiots in the IWOOT office just to make sure. As well as being an easy flyer it’s also pretty darn resilient along with full altitude and directional control plus a super steady forward motion. It charges up from the remote (which takes 6 AA batteries) and you should get at least 10 mins flying time before it needs another charge. This really is the most stable and controllable little helicopter we’ve ever played with - and we’ve played with a lot (it’s important research you know). This well and truly rocks.

The Black Ghost Helicopter would make a pretty good stocking stuffer at the relatively affordable price of £24.95.
