Leap Frog Leapster

January 3rd, 2008 by Mark R in Childrens Gadgets, Toys

Leapster

As a parent, I often wonder how many other parents read this site. I am assuming there is quite a lot. The Leap Frog Leapster is nothing new, but I highly recommend it.

The Leap Frog Leapster Learning Game System is something like a handheld gaming system, as it takes cartridges to run it. It even has a digital pen thing like the Nintendo DS. However, the Leap Frog Leapster actually comes with some little games already loaded in the thing that can entertain a kid for hours.

8 in 1 Wiimote Attachments Turn You Into a Fake Ninja

January 2nd, 2008 by Mark R in Toys

8 in 1 Attachments

As a big fan of the Nintendo Wii, I’m always anxious when the latest new stuff comes out. Especially when it comes to Wiimote attachments, such as the 8-in-1 set from the Beloved Dragon Electronics.

As you can see, there are lots of weapons like an axe, scimitar, sword, gun, shield, and two daggers. I’m not certain what types of games you could use these for, but I believe the sword and shield would come in handy for the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Then again, I’m not really into the whole “I’m going to put on my fake weapons and pretend I’m playing with real ones” kind of guy.

I suppose that would be good for the sword and shield, but why two types of daggers? There must be an Assassin’s Creed for the Wii that I don’t know about. As for the scimitar, is that available for the Prince of Persia game? I’m not certain what kind of games is available that you can use the axe for, but I guess it’s just neat all the same.

Boxing Grannies go head-to-head

December 27th, 2007 by Edwin in Gadget Gift Ideas, Toys

boxing-granny1.jpgAs if racing is not enough, this pair of Boxing Grannies are willing to go all out to punch each other’s dentures (they have no more teeth, remember?) out of their mouths!

All that lifting of tea cups and hefty biscuits has given them some great upper body strength, and the time has come for them to find out who’s the top Granny. With an upper cut to strike terror into the hearts of any heavyweight (or paperweight at the very least), these Boxing Grannies will slog it out for victory. You control each Granny by pressing buttons on the base to power each arm, and if your Edna or Doris is hit in the right place, she will rock back on her feet, and your opponent scores a point. It’s a tough game, and these Grannies are not only up for the challenge, but can’t wait to get at each other. This may well be the beginning of something big…

I’m not too sure if a comically violent toy such as this will have negative repercussions on grandkids years down the road, but if you want to take the chance, the Boxing Grannies retail for £14.99 a pair.

Jinsei Ginko: The Life Bank

December 27th, 2007 by Mark R in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Toys

Life Bank

This next product is cool in so many ways. All I can say is: welcome back, virtual pet! Not only that, the Tamigotchi has a serious upgrade as you have not one pet, but a virtual family.

Not only that, but you don’t just feed the virtual pet family by pushing a button. This is a family that you provide for with real money.

Oh man, I really need to slow down, as I am way too excited about this Life Bank. That is, this is what this product’s name (Jinsei Ginko) translates into. The Jinsei Ginko is an advanced piggy bank that has a display with a monochromatic screen. On the screen, a virtual person.

As you add money to the bank, the person goes into marriage, and then a life of luxury. That is, if you give enough money to it. And I have no idea how much money you have to give in order for the virtual family to live like the Hiltons, sans Paris.

Spy Video Car - maybe Santa will bring it next year

December 26th, 2007 by Chris in Electronic Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

Spy Car
Christmas has finally passed. While I enjoy this time of year, people tend to go crazy with their last-minute shopping. The streets are crowded and people tend to get rude in the stores. It’s these things that make me happy when the day is over. That’s not to say that I don’t love the time I spend with my family and the giving (and receiving!) of gifts. Since I’m still a child at heart, I tend to enjoy gifts that are intended for kids. It’s not uncommon to see things like LEGOs and R/C cars on my wish list. If I could go back in time, I’d probably add this car to my list.

Hyper Dash game from Wildplanet

December 23rd, 2007 by Mark R in Toys, Wacky Gadgets

Hyper Dash

Okay, I’m probably overdoing the whole “I’m reporting on products from Wildplanet” thing, but I like this product almost as much as I liked the whole Spy Video Car.

This Hyper Dash game is one of the coolest simply because it is so limitless as far as its gameplay. You see that long joystick-like object up there? You have to take that, and slam it onto the numbered discs up there.

Yes, it really is that simple. The thing is battery operated, so it shouts out what disks to slam, and you slam them. Settings can make it so a player can slam it down by number, or by color.

Spy Video Car from Wildplanet Spy Gear Collection

December 23rd, 2007 by Mark R in Childrens Gadgets, Remote Control Toys, Toys

Spy Video Car

I’ve got to like these new Spy Gear toys from the Wildplanet company. One of my favorites, and I am told, a lot of people’s favorites is the Spy Video Car.

Unfortunately, a Spy Video car isn’t one of those cool cars with lots of built-in gadgets like you would see in a spy video, but it is just as cool.

Simply put, this toy is a dream come true. It is a remote control car with a camera attached on the front. Unfortunately, the camera is a monochromatic job, but it does shoot in infrared.

The Spy Video Car comes in two parts, first the car itself, which has good controls and runs easily across carpet. I never tested it on rocky terrain, but I imagine in might do pretty well.
