George Bush has illegal music on his iPod?

April 17th, 2006 by Paz in Tech News, iPod gadgets

This is hilarious. It’s a video of George Bush discussing his iPod after a recorded interview with Fox news. In a supposedly informal post-interview chat, the President lists the songs he has on his iPod, (at least one of which must have been “illegally” ripped from a CD, as you’ll see).

The iPod Vending Machine

April 12th, 2006 by Al in Tech News, iPod gadgets

Zoom iPod Vending Machine
I tend to associate vending machines with over priced chocolate bars at the local sports centre and not the latest technology gadgets, though I may have to change that point of view thanks to Zoom Systems who sell iPods via a vending machine.

Presently you can see (and buy from) the iPod vending machines in Atlanta and San Francisco airports, though many more installations are planned. I’m not sure how keen I’d be spending a few hundred dollars in a machine (what happens if it gets stuck) but for convenience it’s hard to beat. It accepts credit cards so you don’t have to feed it a bucket load of coins to make your purchase.

Sex Sells - Bellyvision

April 7th, 2006 by Al in Tech News, Wacky Gadgets

Belly AdvertsWhich advert are you going to notice more: a poster on a wall, a paint job on the back of a bus or a well toned midriff sporting a custom advertising paint job. If you say anything but the later you ain’t normal.

As advertisers have known for years “sex sells” so by painting adverts onto the regions we all want to look at anyway, it is a guaranteed way to get an advert noticed.

Google Earth teams with VW for next generation satellite navigation.

March 24th, 2006 by Paz in Tech News

Next gen Google satellite navigation

I’m always fascinated by Google Earth. I often zoom in on old haunts and places I haven’t been to for many years. I must admit, I’d never seen any practical applications until now.

According to Gadgetspy, Google have teamed up with Volkswagen and graphic card manufacturer nVidia, to develop the ultimate, future satellite navigation system.

For the first time, 3D images will be available as well as practical information about location, traffic jams, and the weather that you get with existing devices.

The problem with existing navigational systems is that the 2D display doesn’t give you a “feel” for where you are and is sometimes difficult to trust, especially for long journeys through unknown terrain. If you could have a real-time, graphical display of where you were, it could help build confidence and add a little spice to long-distance journeys, as I’m sure you can well imagine looking at the graphic.

As well as providing location, the gadget could tell you other useful information, no doubt from Google’s index, such as the location of the next gas station, hotel, restaurant, etc.

Apparently, the device is in its development phase. There are no details of price or launch date, but I have to say - I’m intrigued!

Free & Cheap VOIP calls to International Destinations

February 20th, 2006 by Keith in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Software, Tech News

I’m sure most of us have heard of Skype, the most popular VOIP calls, offering cheap PC-to-landlines calls to international countries worldwide. No doubt the quality of the service has been very good, and the rates are pretty fair and reasonable. However, have anyone considered that VOIP calls can be free?

Oh yes, there are (perhaps, not to every single destination in the world) some that are offering free VOIP calls to landlines. In addition, those non-free calls, normally have cheaper rates compared to Skype’s, when dialling to similar destinations. Basically, what I have here are three piece of cool softwares - VoipBuster, VoipCheap and VoipStunt!!
