Kidz-Med TeddyCam

November 21st, 2005 by Anita in Home Gadgets, Spy Stuff

teddycam

We all worry about our children when we leave them in the care of others, even in our own home, that is why this Kidz-Med TeddyCam is excellent for reassuring us that our little ones are in the best hands possible.

No matter, if you use a nanny on a full time basis or you use the next-door neighbor as a babysitter for a night out on the town, you may wonder if your children are okay and sleeping safely in their beds. The best way to know this is not to call, who can’t ask everyone in the home to be quiet when the parents call. The best way to know what is going on is to have the Kidz-Med TeddyCam sitting on a shelf giving you live images on what is going on while you are away.

Supersonic Ear by Wild Planet

November 11th, 2005 by Anita in Spy Stuff

supersonicear
You may think this is just a child’s toy but you would be completely mistaken. My son has one of these and you would be amazed at just what you can really hear with this device.

There should be more laws invoked concerning toys with this power. You can honestly sit in one motel room, point the electronic listening device toward the room next door, and hear what is going on. Not only that, but if you go outside and point it toward homes as you are walking by you can actually hear them talking. You may not be able to distinguish each and every word according to how far you are from the house, but you can hear the voices.

Lighter Camera

October 18th, 2005 by Anita in Spy Stuff

lighter

If you have ever wished you could take pictures without anyone knowing then you must get a lighter camera. However, don’t try to light a cigarette with this gadget because it is non-functioning, just a clever way to hide a secret camera. Just carry it along with you in your shirt pocket or purse and then whip it out to get those shots of the next-door husband with his girlfriend during lunch, or one of the neighbor’s kids throwing brick through a store window. You are sure to be the first one with the prizing winning photo of all the activities going on around your town.

October 14th, 2005 by Keith in Software, Spy Stuff

Reg Organizer

Reg Organizer 3.1 Beta 2 offers a variety of tools required for effective System Registry and configuration files management. This software lets you view, edit and clean the Registry and preview the registry files you want to import (preview files directly from Windows Explorer). The automatic Registry cleanup mode helps you optimize your system performance. You can thoroughly search the Registry to find all the keys related to a certain application.

Released: October 12, 2005
Publisher: Chemtable Software
Homepage: Reg Organizer
License: Shareware
OS Support: Windows (All)
Screenshot: Reg Organizer 3.1

According to several people who use Reg Organizer, they were fascinated with the existence of this kind of aggressive tool, that could clean up system registry and truly manage the keys and identify unnecessary ones. Unfortunately, under shareware mode, many of these strong functions are reduced.

Nonetheless, the shareware is free to download and worth a try.

Download Reg Organizer 3.1 Beta 2.

The software costs $29.95 for a registered license.

Electric lock pick

September 22nd, 2005 by Marc in Spy Stuff

Electric lock pick
How I missed this when I did my round up of spy gadgets I don’t know. It appears that the subtle art of lock picking has not escaped the inexorable march of technology.

Having said that this looks like a pretty brute force approach to the problem of gaining entry without a key although it’s not as brute force as, say, a sledgehammer so perhaps it has merit. Apparently jamming one of the swappable picks into a lock and pressing the button will agitate the lock cylinders several times a second and with practice you should be able to get into many places you shouldn’t.

Is this even legal? They’re selling them so I guess they must be… If you get caught it’s nothing to do with me!

I found this one on Lockpickshop.com

Real world surveillance

September 21st, 2005 by Marc in Spy Stuff

Bomb proof security film
A few people have commented to me that they’ve enjoyed the “Spy Stuff” section on coolest gadgets so I thought it would be interesting to have a look around and see what’s out there for use in the “real” world.

Bear in mind that some of this stuff is only sold to governments (and from the prices I’ve tracked down I know why too) but it’s still interesting to see what technology has managed to create for the world of surveillance and espionage.

To start with: the photo on this post… That’s Bomb Blast safety film to line windows and (hopefully) catch the glass in case of explosion, rather than letting it fragment all over the place. You can get this from Spymaster in London. They list lots of fun stuff on their website (like armoured landrovers) and I’ve walked past their shop a few times but I’ve never gone inside – it always looks like the kind of place you need an appointment to visit ;-)
