Gift Ideas for the Spy in your Life
It may not be the wisest of moves buying other people spy equipment but hey if you’re married to 007 and are stuck for a gift then check these out:
GPS Tracker
We wrote about this exceptionally cool GPS tracker earlier in the year and it became our first ever Digg front page (which meant lots of traffic and new readers (thank you digg)).
Once the tracker has done it’s travels and it’s back in your possession you simply connect it to you PC and download the data. This data can then be plotted on Google Earth, Mapquest, maps.google.com and Virtual Earth to show exactly where it’s been, how long it took and how it got there.
I just think this is so cool (may of said cool a record number of times in this post) it obviously has the spy functionality of tracking somebody else but to me it is even more useful for tracking your own holidays and backpacking adventures. So not only can you bore visitors with your holiday snaps you can also show them exactly where you went.
Available from from TG for $249.99.

Mains Adapter Bug
The spy world is full of cool gadgets, I was browsing around Spy Review and came across this total innocuous bug disguised as a UK 2 way mains adapter (I have 100s of these things dotted around my house, generally plugged into 4 way adapters).
The mains adapter room bug not only bugs a room but the adapter side of it also works and provides the required power (so you no longer need to sneak in to change the batteries).
The cheapest (~£50) version of the bug uses VHF for transmission, though if required you can spend a bit of extra lolly and get a UHF or narrowband version (must admit I’ve got no idea what the difference is).
For info over at spy review, another cool English blog about spy gear and all that sort of fun stuff, cheers Dan.
Neato military gadgets,, ok, gear, (and some neat news)
Yeah, you always had it in the back of your mind, what if I was some secret soldier guy with all the neato stuff.
Well, you’re not, but you always wondered what kind of gear you’d have anyway. Well here’s a great blog that actually tells you!
It’s called Kitup, and it’s brought to you buy some of the guys at Military.com It’s all the really useful military gear that those guys need (not the extraneous crap they typically hand out like heavy batteries for radios that last far longer than you need, but they make you pack in 6 of them!) Check them out.
Also there’s a great link to an article on the retirement of the stealth fighter (F-117a Nighthawk). Why would this be important you ask? Read on for more juicy thoughts!

Official 007 Laptop

My name is Bond, $3900 dollars less in the pocket for a cool looking but slow computer Bond.
You’ve got baddies to deal with.
You’ve got a car that costs as much as some people’s home.
You’re now blond, and you must find a way to send an email and look super cool doing it, probably while upside down.

Bringing kids to the local mall can be a time of fun and bonding, and yet the experience could be rather stressful as well when you try to complete the list of groceries while keeping tabs on two of your tiny terrors who love playing hide and seek between the aisles. Short of getting a dog leash or risk the embarrassment of admonishing your little ones in a public area, the IonKids system will be able to help you keep tabs on your children. This unique tracking system comprises of a Base Unit which looks like a PDA device and a Wristag that locks onto a child’s arm securely.

Alien Alarm – The Echo Bot
This is a cool little toy, the Echo Bot your very own alien intruder alarm. Simply record your own custom message (like “Get of my land!”) stand or attach the bot near the place you want it to guard (it works like the GorrillaPod Camera Tripod where each of it’s tentacle-like legs can be wrapped around objects to keep it in place). Then as soon as it detects an intruder it will play back your recording.
Echo bots are available from Gizoo in both pink and orange for £9.95.
