The BlueFire Endoscope will give you a more in-depth look into…everything Thu, 21 Apr 2016 19:30:35 +0000 Bluefire Endoscope

Have you ever had a clogged pipe or needed to get a look into any other tiny space that you can’t see into properly? You can whip out a flashlight and try to form a clearer picture of what’s going on, but if it’s out of sight or too small to see, you can’t react appropriately to correct any issues. This applies to a great number of things such as pipes, vents, car problems, home care, and more.

While there does come a time where you need to call in a professional, it’s nice to know what you’re dealing with beforehand. If it’s something you can fix on your own, it’s better to spend a little money to save a lot by getting this BlueFire Endoscope. Let’s just put it out in the open that this should not be going into any parts of your body aside from getting a better look at the back of your throat when you feel a cold brewing. There’s a reason doctors get paid the big bucks to do all of the scopes.

That being said, this tube is perfect for home issues, working on delicate problems on your computer or detailed art projects. This has support for Android devices, and features a IP67 waterproof 7mm camera head and an adjustable LED light. It has a focal length of 3-8cm, but you’ll need to download the corresponding app to get it to work. This will cost you $20.99-30.99 depending on how long you want your cable to be.

The Snooperscope gives your smartphone night-vision, for better or worse Mon, 04 Apr 2016 19:30:03 +0000 Snooperscope

When walking at night, are you the type of person who waits for their eyes to adjust to the light, or do you prefer to have a flashlight with you? Both feel a bit ominous at times in completely different ways, mainly because we can’t see a full picture of everything that’s in front of us. If you could see it all whether it’s day or night, would you want to?

If that was met with a quick yes, then the Snooperscope will be an item worth looking into. This is an attachment for your phone or tablet that will let you see in low or no light situations. It uses special optics to let you see the world of night in a green tint. This would be useful for nighttime wildlife watching, action or sport cameras, or ghost hunters who want to see what goes bump in the night. For that last one, we all hope the answer is nothing.

This runs through WiFi peer-to-peer connection, giving you secure H.264 compressed video feed. It has its own battery which will continue working for up to 4 hours, and won’t be draining your device in the process. To use this, simply connect it to your smartphone and be on your way. You can also configure it for sound or motion detection while leaving it on a stationary tripod where it will send you an email if anything causes a stir. This works with iOS and Android, and will cost you $139, coming in black, white, green, and camo.

This Tesla Lighter uses an arc of electric to spring life to a fire Mon, 21 Dec 2015 19:30:15 +0000 Tesla Coil Lighter

When you think of a lighter, usually products from Zippo and Bic brands flash in your mind. Of course, those all use a liquid fuel that either needs to be replenished, or you just have to buy a new lighter. It would be nice if we could just plug our lighter in instead of using butane, but if there’s not enough reason for us to do so, we’ll likely stay with the same ole ball and chain since we’re used to it.

While picking out pretty colors or designs is fun, why not get a lighter that looks as awesome as what it can do? This Tesla Coil Lighter is not only rechargeable, but uses an arc of electricity to spark a flame. It measures 3×1.75×0.5”, so it’s not going to take up much more room than you’re already accustomed to, and you’ll only ever need to plug it in via USB to keep it working. It is an electronic gizmo, so it does still have a lifespan, but it will last for years rather than months or weeks like normal lighters would.

Clicking the button is all that’s needed to get an arc, and a full charge should give you 100-300 uses. Not only would this be awesome to use, but it has a gunmetal and matte black finish that makes it look like something a spy would be toting in their gear. This is only going to cost you $24.95, and is going to give you both an air of mystery and at least 5 extra cool points.

This Keychain makes Duct Tape seem classier than it is Tue, 15 Dec 2015 19:30:04 +0000 Duct Tape Key Chain

Hailing from an area where there are more cows and cornfields than people, I have seen duct tape used in a variety of ways. While keeping the front bumper of your car on and fixing pipes with the silver sticky magic paper may seem uncouth to some, let me tell you that the stuff is going to outlast most of mankind. It does come with a connotation of being for rednecks that is generally unfavorable, but it is and has been a lifesaver countless times.

If you have to be pretentious about carrying it around with you, but want to nod to its usefulness, then this Keychain Duct Tape should be on your person at all times. This is a simple metal spool that is meant to have 18” of Gorilla Tape or 24” of Gaffers Tape on it. It’s only about the size of your chapstick, and is made of either solid brass or stainless steel, whichever you prefer.

This is a very simple idea, and you can most definitely make your own version of this easily, but it is a very dapper way to carry around duct tape. It’s certainly more convenient than carrying around the whole roll, especially if you deal with public transit rather than being close to your car. To refill this, put your keychain into a power drill, measure out the correct amount of tape, spin, cut, and you’re ready to roll out. This is a $20 purchase that will blend into your other fancy spy gear seamlessly.

This Practice Padlock will improve your lock-picking skills Mon, 20 Jul 2015 20:39:34 +0000 Practice Padlock

There are some practices that we no longer view as a necessity. How many of your friends are expert cooks, blacksmiths, or falconers? The only times we really consider picking up a new skill set is usually in a video game. If you wish you could level up in real life, then picking up some neat skills we usually thought were reserved for spies or characters in fantastical worlds might be just the way to do it.

If you’ve ever wanted to be a rogue, but didn’t know how to obtain the knowledge to be one, you should start small and work your way up. This Practice Padlock will help you develop your lock picking skills over time. This functions like any other padlock, but it is made of clear plastic so you can use a pick and see what you’re doing while you try to open the lock.

While this doesn’t mean you’ll be able to open any lock, it will make you familiar with this specific type. You’ll learn what you should be feeling for if you’re trying to open one of these with anything other than a key. Of course, this is not meant to encourage you to steal anything as this is just a handy skill to have should the situation befall you. This skill can be picked up for only $13.99, and hours of practice.

Evermind – Love and Caring from a Distance Thu, 07 May 2015 17:43:30 +0000 sensors

I’ve reached a point in my life where I worry a lot! Sure, I worry about my soon-to-be-teenaged daughter, I worry about my health, and of course, the well being of my parents. There are a million ways to keep tabs on my kid, and I tend to be pretty responsible about myself… but my parents are never going to wear one of those “alert” necklaces, nor are they going to take kindly to my checking up on them…

If you know what I’m talking about, check out Evermind, a rather new gizmo that affords you some real peace of mind. Designed specifically to be unobtrusive, Evermind simply detects when electrical appliances are switched on and off. So, when mom hops out of bed and throws on the coffee maker, an alert lets you know that all’s well, and you can wait until lunchtime for that relaxing phone chat.

Evermind works with a multitude of appliances, so you can choose according to your loved ones routine. Use the microwave, a coffee maker, the TVs, lamps, curling irons, a CPAP machine, or even the garage door openers, and you can be instantly notified when dad gets up, is watching tv after dinner, or is safe in bed for the night.

Evermind can send you text messages or email notifications throughout your day, and will even let you know if something seems amiss. Your Evermind set includes three sensors so you can monitor from one to three appliances. You just plug the Evermind sensors into your outlet, and then plug your selected appliances into that. These sensors are able to connect to the Evermind network with a built-in wireless Internet. So no home Internet connection is required.

Sounds great to me, and I can think of a few other uses for a TV, or garage door monitor (think teenagers) If the Evermind sounds like something that benefit your family, check it out at It’s under $200 for the system, and around 29 bucks a month for the service.

The Kniper – Snipe unsuspecting fools with this multi-functional knife Wed, 22 Apr 2015 19:30:32 +0000 Kniper

If you haven’t caught on by now, I’m a bit of a fan of multi-tools. There’s always some history to why it was made, as the creator likely had a set of specific problems, made the product to fix them, and decided it was useful enough to sell. There are hundreds of thousands of different multi-functional tools out there, but your situation is the deciding factor for which one will fit you the best.

If you are more of a woodsy type, or find yourself in need of a knife rather frequently, then why not spring for something that will help you do more than cut down limbs? The Kniper is a throwing knife that is certain to help you take on a variety of challenges. This is made of 420 high-carbon stainless steel which measures 13 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 5.5mm thick. Its 22 functions include a Philips head screwdriver, fork, flathead, ruler, bottle or can opener, pry bar, closed wrench, wire breaker and stripper, saw, nail remover, tobacco pipe, and much more.

Seeing that its main purpose is a throwing knife, it’s important to know that its weight distribution and shape are all specific to this purpose. That being said, these extras are just bonuses on top of its main function. This is going to cost you $75 for the pre-order, and won’t ship until July of this year. If it sees regular use, you likely shouldn’t stay too fond of the lime green color it sports, as that will very quickly become noticeably dirty and/or fade over time.

United Cutlery Kommando Pocket Rescue Tool – the cavalry is in your pocket Tue, 21 Apr 2015 19:30:37 +0000 United Cutlery Kommando Credit Card Survival Tool

If you prefer to take care of things on your own, the idea of being left helpless is likely one of sheer terror. While it’s good practice to think of what-if scenarios, you don’t want to go too far overboard preparing for every possible thing you can think of. Using your logical mind, you should take in your typical surroundings, and think of what tools you might need so you can make sure you always have those specific tools at the ready.

If you happen to find yourself in a situation that often requires wire strippers, wrenches, a screwdriver head, cord, a knife, inclinometer, and a bottle opener, then it might be in your interests to get the M48 Kommando Pocket Rescue Tool. This has 4 different sized wire strippers, 4 ASE wrenches, and the other aforementioned tools. While it will fit in your wallet, the sharp edges are likely better kept in the waterproof carrying case that comes with it.

If you are in such a spot that you need more help than this multi-tool, the Morse code for SOS and HELP have been laser etched onto the top. This is an $11 purchase that will hopefully never see use out of desperation. However, it would be a nice way to stop yourself from having to run to the tool box for wire strippers and wrenches on occasion (and opening bottled beverages when the job is done).

The Carabiner Grappling Hook – never leave home without one Tue, 31 Mar 2015 19:30:29 +0000 Grappling hook

When you walk out your front door, you never know what you’re going to face that day. Maybe the zombie apocalypse will finally happen, or you have to save a kitten from a tree, or stop a flaming bus full of orphans from careening off the road and shepard the children to safety, becoming the town hero. It may be far-fetched, but it’s not impossible.

If you think fate might put you in one of these situations, you need to be prepared for all the ifs and what-ifs that could ever if. This is a totally pointless endeavor, and will have you stuffing a laundry bag-sized backpack full of random items, but it will bring you mental comfort knowing you have a zombie survival grab bag and answers for the inevitable questions you may ask about how it all came to this. Of course, if you really want to be ready for whatever life can throw at you, why not get a Grappling Hook?

This is a steel Grappling Hook that can take about 800 pounds of weight in one go. The price tag only being at $52, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this is made of plain ole steel with no emphasis on being stainless, meaning it will likely rust over time. However, it will help you scale walls and pull down limbs with relative ease. If you’re buying it for the zombie apocalypse, this may be your only way to safety, or a weapon with murderous intent.
