A-Bike Folding Bicycle

March 8th, 2007 by Tiago in Sport

A-Bike Folding Bicycle

While thinking about doing some exercise there are two things I have in mind, either play football which I do plenty of times per week, or go out for a bike ride which is also pleasing to do because the rider will get some fresh air on the face and be able to view some good sights as well.

And while thinking about the bike ride there is always one important detail, which is the bicycle of course. Is it heavy? Light? Big or small? Easy to store it somewhere? Does it provide a good riddance?

Board? I’ll knee you!!! (ok, it’s about knee-boards)

March 7th, 2007 by Fred in Football Gadgets, Gadget Gift Ideas, Miscellaneous Gadgets, Vehicle Gadgets, Wacky Gadgets

So, yes, I’ve already shown proof I’m a tad weird, but, here’s more proof.flyboys kneeboard

I think Knee-boards are cool.

Yes, I’m still not quite sure why either. Maybe it is because you can use them to carry important little notes like,

“If flying upside-down, do not release bombs.”

or

“Pay attention to the radar when flying, those other dots you see at your altitude can hit you and it’ll be bad.”

So you know, important notes that pilots use. While I’m not a pilot, I always am writing notes to myself, as well as cruising all over the office. So, you guessed it, I’ve always wanted one. Maybe this falls into the same category as the wrist coach for why I think it’s cool to be doing something and be able to read important information, (just ask any NFL quarterback).

Maybe this’ll be the year I finally buckle down and get one for myself.

Golf Ball Launcher

March 6th, 2007 by Al in Conceptual Gadgets, Golf Gadgets

Golf ball gun

Is that a man shooting birds, nope it’s a bloke with a decidedly dodgy mullet playing golf with the golf ball launcher.

Designed for people that have mobility issues or who are just crap at golf is the golf ball launcher is capable of firing balls from 25 yards to over 300 . Instead of having to whack the ball with a club you simply pump up your launcher, load, take aim and fire. I’d expect you’d get some very funny looks at the 19th hole, well that is until you point it at them.

It’s a bit of a concept gadget at the moment (phew), further info over at Invention Showcase.

Sunglasses,, that are so cool, they’ll eat your face,, Parasite

March 3rd, 2007 by Fred in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Sport

Well, ok, maybe they won’t eat your face, but they’ll definitely stay on. parasite sunglasses

These are from the French design team at Parasite. They have a line of super cool sunglasses.

I’m sure however you could easily figure that out after looking at the images here.

Check out their site for a full look at all the lines they have. I’ve been wearing my pair of toasters for waay too long and I think it may be high time to trade out for a pair of these (then again, they’re probably a fortune, ahh, what the heck, I only have these two eyes). Ball that measures how Far it was thrown

February 26th, 2007 by Al in Football Gadgets, Sport

Virtual Distance Football

This is a cool idea, a football (American) that can measure and display how far it has been thrown, so next time you throw a great touch down pass you can brag about the distance accurately (rather than saying it went really really far).

Known as the Virtual Distance Football, the distance thrown is calculated by using sensors to detect when the ball is thrown and then the impact of a catch or fumble (though how it knows the distance between the two is beyond me).

The virtual distance football is available from Discovery for $19.95.

Hey let’s all go to Holland and ride bikes. Coasting,, a manufactured fad

February 22nd, 2007 by Fred in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Sport, Vehicle Gadgets

Shimano CoastingSo the folks at Shimano that make every bike component you own (unless you ride Campy, Sram, or other gear) want to make friends with all the people that never ride bikes.

Plus they want them to buy a new bike too, (With their partners Giant, Trek, and Raleigh).

They’re going for the slow roller set, and going after it with some gusto with their new Coasting program.

The bikes look fun and enjoyable for the beach-going or city set. They’re clearly made for low grade (read flat places) that are easily pedaled.

The design look is fun and relaxed. These are not featherweight rocket sleds (though their transmissions and higher grade materials will make for a smooth efficient ride). These are developed for meandering down a country lane to your friends house. Maybe halfway there you hop off your bike and pick up an espresso.

After the jump take a look at how distinctly different each one of these new bikes look. It’s creepy how different they all,,,,, oh, wait,,, they’re like identicalish.

Now your bike can show off like a peacock and you won’t look like a skunk

February 20th, 2007 by Fred in Miscellaneous Gadgets, Sport, Vehicle Gadgets

inflatable fenderstopeak logoInflatable fenders, finally!!

Thank you Topeak!!!!

Yes, now you can roll with a fender on your bike the whole time, and when it gets wet and slick, just pump up the fender and away you go.

Sure, you think bikes aren’t that impressive, well,, you’re wrong. The problem is when you’re stuck out in the rain riding your bike, you get a skunk style trail from the bottom of your butt up your back to your helmet. Outside of that (and the incessant downpour) the riding is the same, (ok there’s reduced grip and you’ll likely be soaked, but one thing at a time ok.
